Re: August WTO

  • Entering CD1 today or tomorrow! Wish AF would get on with it as she's already hinting at her appearance. :s

  • CD 9.  Getting ready for BD marathon for the next 10 days well EOD at least.

@silvergreen the only times in our lives when you wish AF would just hurry up and get here so we can get on with the next cycle of trying.
  • CD 7 here. We will start the EOD marathon soon too @Mack2342 ! I've started using pre-seed and am loving it- hoping it's worth the price compared to the alternatives....

@silvergreen sorry your back here too.. let's hope for fast and successful cycles!!

  • @Mack2342 Haha, yeah!

@jchpg Thanks. And I'm okay with it. I was supposed to wait another cycle as per my OBGYN's instructions, so I feel a little better about it than I would have otherwise. She said to wait three cycles. I only just finished my second. Do you think this means it's okay to try on the third? There's nothing concrete out there that I've found to really back up her recommendation (I had a D&C and she said she wanted me to build up the lining), but they always say to listen to your doc.

  • @jchpg we use preseed as well and I love it

@silvergreen doctors used to say wait 3 months but it seems most are following the new research as long as there aren't other issues.  Maybe call your doctor and ask. Or do what feels is right for you
  • Anyone else use clear blue to track their ovulation? I had a blinking smiley yesterday CD 8 and today CD 9  it seems really early to me but oh well fingers crossed DH and I will start to  BD tonight

  • @shri929 I use them.  I have Od early a couple of times especially right after MC. So I started BD at CD 10 through 20 plus that's what dr recommended
  • Ok, I have to ask, what does "WTO" stand for? I can not for the life of me figure it out.

@Mack2342 Thanks! I feel like whatever I read never really specifies what kind of MC - natural or D&C - so I can't determine whether one really needs to "rebuild" a lining. So I'm basically gleaning information from other posts. Seems like a lot of people conceived right after a D&C (without getting a period) with no issues whatsoever.

@Mack2342 thank you! I guess my cycle isn't regular yet?

Another random question-- anyone ever spot during ovulation?

@MrsBunz I'm trying desperately to get all of the lingo too!

@silvergreen  I had a nmc so was told after they did an ultrasound that I could try again. She did take a look at the lining. Not sure how d&c work, so if they didn't do another ultrasound there is no telling. Be forewarned though that some offices bill follow up ultrasounds as non- ob and charge quite a bit more.
ETA: should be ovulating soon on day 12.
ETA: sorry I tagged the wrong person.
  • @silvergreen medically you rebuild the lining every cycle, regardless of whether the previous cycle had resulted in a pregnancy and MC or not. That's what happens in the 2 weeks before O.

  • @silvergreen I've had two d & Cs and was told I could try when first period arrived after both.  I didn't have a follow up US either just physical exam
  • @shri929 Haha!! It was a total learning curve for me when I joined this site, too! My husband said, "It's like you're trying to have some sort of secret code!"

    @MrsBunz @rklinge0 @Mack2342 Good to know! Thanks, ladies! :)

She made it seem like a D&C removes more tissue than what would occur in a natural period. Maybe her suggestion had something more to do with personal belief/experiences rather than what the actual science shows.

  • @silvergreen Often OBs want you to wait until you have AF after your D&C or MC to TTC because it lets the drs know your cycle has returned to normal, and it helps with dating the pregnancy. Depending on how far along you were at the time of MC, you may have depleted your maternal nutritional stores, so an extra month lets you help build them back up a bit.

  • Hope this isn't going off on a tangent too much but I was reading a few things about sperm. It may be common knowledge to some but I figured I'd share since it was new to me. I happened upon some information that suggested old/dead sperm can decay and release harmful substances which can cause DNA damage to fresh sperm. It would seem that the recommendation is to ensure the old sperm is expelled every two-three days prior to your fertile window.

"We conclude that in normal semen there were no significant differences in terms of total motile sperm count between 3-5 days abstinence time and 18-30 hours abstinence time (only one day of abstinence). However DNA damage and the percentage of normal morphological sperm were significantly lower in 18-30 hours abstinence time when compared with the 3-5 days abstinence time."

    Study here.

  • @MrsBunz I was supposed to be 9 weeks but was measuring around 6+2 (discovered 4/14 with D&C on 4/17). She said I could try again in July, after three cycles, but I didn't get AF until June. Maybe what she was really trying to say was three months!

  • @silvergreen my dr told me about dead sperm so DH and I decided to have a clean out BD around CD 7 or 8 since we start EOD BD usually at CD 10.  However this cycle I was at a low yesterday morning with OPKs but CM changed yesterday after day so I took another one and got a blinking smiley on CD 9 so we will start EOD until solid smiley.  Also last cycle for me we did IUI and they do a sperm wash on the sample to remove the dead and increase mobility.

@Mack2342 A sperm wash? Wow! I didn't know they could do those things. Pretty cool.

Last night I had this weird episode of jolting pains around my abdomen (more so above the bellybutton area) and a couple times in my vagina. It's nothing I've ever had before. I'm hoping that there aren't any complications chasing me after the D&C back in April... I've had 2 periods with nothing like this, so I'm feeling a little disturbed. Not sure whether this is worth chasing up with the OBGYN. I had a little red when I wiped last night, but it's mostly brown this morning. :/

  • @silvergreen it's amazing the things science can do!  What CD are you?  Could it be ovulation cramping? Or end of period? If you are concerned you might want to call OB and speak with someone.  I notice so much more about my body with TTC and the losses than I ever did.   I now feel ovulation cramping when I never  noticed it before

@Mack2342 Based on my app I should be CD2-ish, but I always allow a few days wiggle room. My cycle prior to the MMC/D&C was 25-27 days, but since the procedure my cycle seems to want to follow closer to the 28 day rhythm. It was really odd - it happened when I was sitting and it was like having lightning crotch that extended all over random parts of my abdomen area. Laying down helped a lot! Still having brown discharge/spotting, enough to faintly see on a pad, so I really am having a hard time figuring out which CD I'm on!

ETA: Took another HPT to be sure, but BFN. Maybe my uterus is triggering spasms in areas nearby. :s

  • @silvergreen. I had no idea about all that old sperm info. I don't think about this stuff too much because it can literally drive you insane.

  • @silvergreen hmm. I don't know.  Maybe knew PMS symptom.  I've never really had pre spotting until after this last loss.  So RE told me CD 1 started with bright red flow and not any spotting so i haven't been counting the day or two I spot
  • @silvergreen - it's not CD1 until the red blood flow starts

  • @Mack2342 @vlagrl29 Thanks! I've been a pre-period spotter for a good few years now. Hoping the flow starts tonight because I'm ready to get this show on the road!

  • I'm so frustrated....I had an US on CD 2 and learned that my follicles from last cycle were still hanging on so what I read was I didn't actually ovulate. So we were not able start new medicated cycle and had to take a rest from meds but were told we could try naturally. I usually start taking OPKs on CD 8 on CD 9 it was low in the morning but later in day I had EWCM so I took another one and it was high or blinking smiley.  Blinking smiley yesterday (morning and evening) but CM was just watery.  Now I'm back to low on OPK.  We did BD on CD 9 and will BD again tonight as we do EOD but I have a feeling I'm not going to ovulate again this month. I'm so annoyed and feeling like this is not going to happen
  • @Mack2342 that is beyond frustrating! Do you think there is a chance you still ovulated?
  • @Mack2342 I'm new to clear blue but I believe that you're supposed to take it the same time each day or it might interfere with the integrity of the reading don't hold me to it but maybe it means you might have ovulated then

  • @sprkls8506 so I took another a couple hours later and it's back to blinking....come on OPKs make up your mind!

@shri929 I usually take one in the morning when I get up and then one in the evening. I've never heard to take them at the same time
  • @Mack2342 fingers crossed for you!!! I've never used the clear blue OPK but I will be starting this month. The months I've tested I always used the cheapie ones.

My RE told me you should do it the 2nd bathroom trip of the day. She said not to use it first thing altho I always used to! Not sure it really matters. I always did one in the morning and at nite as well.
  • @Mack2342

    Test once a day

Only test once a day until you see High Fertility
    - For reliable High Fertility results you must use the urine from after your longest sleep.
    - When you have seen High Fertility you can test more often, but avoid excess fluid intake before testing.

    I hope that's helpful :)

  • @shri929 that's good to know!
  • I never cared for the blinky smiles. I just like the regular digital clear blue smile face.

  • I only use the cheap wondfos.  I test once in the morning and once at night.  I hope I haven't been doing it all wrong.

My therapist said to just make "passionate love" every other day. LOL, she makes me laugh.
  • I've read that you should test twice a day.
  • I love your therapist @justsuzie but I have not enough energy to have sex EOD for an entire month.

When I used OPKs I only used them in the morning with first urine.

  • We dtd every other day for half of the month to conceive our first.
Hubby has gotten it 3 times this week.  Probably the most he has gotten in one week in a long time.
  • I just don't even see the point in BD if there isn't somewhat fertile CM coming out.  So we usually don't start until CD8 or so.  It's just one of those things  I can't tell you how many months we had precise timing so I don't care much more if we have the perfect timing or not.
