@beachbunnyxo123 yay!! If I were in your shoes, I would have wanted to find another clinic as well. I hope you are super impressed on Monday and feel good about moving forward with them!
@KariAnn323 we're supposed to get the results in 3-5 days!
Me: 31 DH: 32 Dating since: 11/17/2001 Married: 9/26/2009 TTC: June 2016
I just got a phone call from Walgreens about my IUI meds. That was a reality check talking about doses and needles and pricing. Ugh But with that being said I'm still ready to get this show on the road. And I'm still having my husband find an EMT to give me my shot lol
@BertieMeetsGertie I hope so too!! Hope that you get YH results soon and that they come back great!!!
@50Wife so sorry that can definitely be a lot to all take in that's for sure. What is your med plan this cycle are you just talking about the trigger shot for the IUI or are you doing injectables? If just a trigger I'd be surprised that they talked about needles usually the hcg shot comes ready to go
Howdy ladies! Thanks for all the well wishes regarding our RE consult yesterday - DH and I talked about it last night, and we've decided to keep trying on our own for the next three cycles (this one, I'm CD12 so it's on this weekend ), August and September. This works out because we have some work and vacation commitments through September that would make it difficult to get in for appointments, testing, etc, so it's for the best. Then, if that doesn't work, we're going to try IUIs for October, November, and December. Then if THAT doesn't work, we're going to reassess IVF in January.
We came to this decision for a bunch of reasons: 1. The above mentioned work and vacation commitments, plus, we're getting into holidays at the end of the year TW in spoiler
2. I got a very nice PM from a former TTGPer who seriously helped take a load of my shoulders by explaining to me her situation, which is very similar to mine, and how they were successful through IUI, not to mention that we have naturally conceived before
3. DH was very hesitant about this whole process, and I have to respect his feelings in all of this - it's not just about me. I feel if we tread slowly (but not too slow!) he may feel more comfortable if and when we get to potentially having to do the IVF w/ICSI. 4. If we were going to do IVF now, we'd have to either start in August, or wait until November, because again, of the aforementioned vacation/work stuff. 5. I'm hoping that these next few months of trying on our own (although I'm not hopeful) it will give us more time to make some lifestyle changes, I can continue to work on losing weight, and DH will continue his vitamin regimen to maybe help get the morph up a percentage or two.
Thanks for reading my novel. I hope you don't see this as an AW - I just had to write it all out, and to talk to people who understand. I know time is not on our side, but I'm not in this alone, and have to take DH's feelings into consideration as well. And the timing thing kind of works on anyway.
@BertieMeetsGertie thanks, girl! I swear this whole process has us going through stuff we never thought we'd imagine going through!
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm just doing the trigger shot so it doesn't sound overwhelming writing that out but talking to the lady I was thinking holy shit, this is real life.
@RVAmom315 I'm glad you came up with a game plan that works for you guys. I agree slowly easing into things makes it easier to go through (my husband said months ago we would never pay to get knocked up...but here we are) i hope things work out for you so you don't need to get into IUI or IVF. Its a tough ride either way but we're all on your side! Have fun trying this weekend *bow chicka bow wow*
@rvamom315 It sounds like you guys have thought about it and
are doing what’s best for you guys. There are so many things that play into these decisions.I’m so glad thata grad was able to help you. This community truly amazes me every
day.I hope that you guys don’t have to
proceed with IFV, but if that is the case, you’ve got a lot of support here.
@50Wife you can do this! I promise the trigger shot isn't as bad as it seems.
@RVAmom315 I'm glad you guys were able to come up with a plan that works for you! Diving into treatment isn't easy and you definitely need to be sure it's something you're ready to do. I still can't decide if I'm going to take the next step and do IVF if this IUI fails so I completely understand.

@RVAmom315 I think the plan you have established is excellent!! It's such a shock to the system when someone tells you your best chance is going straight from regular ole sex to IVF. It's really difficult to wrap your mind around that, especially when your H's count and motility are normal. FX that you won't need to move into ART! Oh, and don't worry about being an AW or DD (I wouldn't say your post was either of those!). The way I see it, any IFer can post whatever she feels she needs to to get everything off her chest!

OK, that is probably the first and last I can haz cheezburger reference I will ever make, LOL.
I was super hopeful about this cycle, and I'm so disappointed and discouraged, and frankly angry. But I realized on the drive into work this morning that I have at least a day of tears a cycle, but that I'd rather enjoy being hopeful the rest of the time than let IF make me miserable. So after my day of tears, I will do my regular attitude reset. Thankfully tonight is acupuncture, and that always helps.

Does anyone here have experience with Metformin and want to share?
My recommendation is to make sure you are on the extended release and that you don't start with the full dose right away. Eating carbs will make your stomach pain worse but eventually that all went away. I was only ever on extended release but I've heard the non ER format can cause a lot more digestive issues.

@aurora1973 so sorry hugs friend; I got another bfn this morning still just WFAF. Do you know what the plan is for next cycle?
@beachbunnyxo123 I'm sorry, friend. BFNs just suck balls. Yep, our plan is: second verse, same as the first. The only question is whether I will have another IUI and one at home insemination or if we will do two at home inseminations because we'll be traveling. I'm hoping to get a referral from my midwife for someone in my hometown to do it, should I O while we're there (which is looking likely). What about you? Another IUI?

Afm -- we are definitely doing ivf. We paid the first payment on the pgd this morning (they have to create the probe before the ivf/stimulation so that's our first step). Looks like we will have our next news in 6-8 weeks.
I'm also getting a hysteroscopy because of my complicated recovery from d&e for my loss. Has anyone had a hysteroscopy? What should I expect and what happens if something is wrong?
I am also terrified of giving myself injections...the re nurse told me people get used to it after a couple times but I don't see how that can possibly be true.
@beachbunnyxo123@Aurora1973 sending my love and hugs your way! For me, I allow myself a few hours to feel sad and angry (usually this is before CD1 even hits), and then I try to focus more on the future and positivity.

@beary67 Thank you! I'll make sure to ask for the ER!
A few more things I thought of--I always took my Metformin with dinner and that helped. I also took a total of 1500mg (extended release). To ease into it, I would take 750mg for one full week and then after a week I added in the other 750mg pill to get my 1500mg total. I did have some digestive issues the first week or so but got adjusted quickly!

@adirat I had a hysteroscopy. It was legit a <1 minute "procedure" if you want to call it that. I sat on a chair that they tipped backwards to the point where I thought I'd have to hold on for dear life but it took longer to get the chair up and down than he did looking around in there. I didn't experience any pain or discomfort during (I experienced bad period type cramps during my HSG) but I did get pretty bad cramps not long after it ended.
They did a Pap smear while they were in there as well.
Your doctor should be able to tell you right then and there if something doesn't look right. The labs will obviously take a bit longer. I got the all clear after mine so I can't really say what happens if something doesn't seem normal, but I'm hoping that you won't have to worry about that!
Oh and minor details....They use stuff to clean the area prior to going in so you'll have brown discharge from that (as well as possible spotting) through the day so you'll need a liner for sure when you leave. They told me it stains so I guess consider that when choosing your pants/underwear that day just incase.
@50wife Thank you! That is super helpful. I was relieved to hear that my RE can do the hysteroscopy himself so he presumably can see what's going on and tell me right away. I had an extremely painful hsg so I'll go in prepared for this...
@50Wife hm I wonder why she described it like that. Is it ovidrel? Usually mine comes all good to go and ready to inject. I will tell you I was petrified and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. You totally got this girl!
@adirat yay!!! So exciting that you guys are moving forward!!! Fx so hard for you! Sorry I don't have any information about the hysteroscopy
@Aurora1973 I'm not sure yet actually. I'm WFAF but hoping she comes later than usual because we have a consultation with a new RE on Monday and I'm so frigging excited after weird vibes at my other clinic. Everyone who works there has been so nice and supportive! Anyway I was hoping that it would only be cd 3 the day I meet with him so I can start a treatment cycle that day otherwise it might just be me and DH on our own this month. I'm looking forward to getting a second opinion and if he's recommending IVF me and DH have talked about it and we are gonna do it.
@adirat were your tubes blocked? My HSG was pretty bad cramps as they got me set up - like I couldn't believe how quickly I went from 0 to bad cramps - I get my period cramps in my thighs and that's exactly where they were with the HSG.
But with the hysteroscopy I was fine during, but probably about an hour later is when I started to get decent stomach cramps. When are you having that done? Do you have it scheduled? Maybe take some tylenol right before or after to help with any cramps you might get.
Yea they should definitely be able to tell you right then and there. My Re had like an old old looking TV connected to the camera so he could see it. I couldn't see the TV - you're literally laid so far back and then your legs are in the way so you can't see anything that's going on (if you'd even want to see up in there...)
@beachbunnyxo123 Oh, I think I read where you said that later. That is so awesome that you have the consult so soon! FX AF waits long enough for you to be at CD3!!!

@adirat Yay for having a plan! How are you feeling about everything?
@Redpuma119 Everything @beary67 said. I also started with taking mine later in the day, and building up the 1500 mg. Even though I don't have IR, it is already helping regulate my period. I went from loooong cycles (2-3+ months), and my last cycle was only 43 days, and AF came this morning, putting my most recent cycle at 32 days. Still don't know if/when I ovulated though I might have missed a previous post, but will you be taking it for IR, to regulate, or ...?
@Hollyyyyy At my last appointment, my RE said that I could try metformin and see if anything improved. I posted about this a while back, but I don't have PCOS, but PCOM. I'm not overweight. I have high AMH and too many follicles on each ovary. Also, my prolactin is high so I just started meds a few weeks ago for that. Also, AF is super regular. So it's a shit show over here. My RE wanted to get started on the cabergoline prior to throwing any other meds into the mix. I was fine for a few doses, but it has started kicking my ass. Hence why I wanted to feel out how other peoples experiences were before I added something else in. It makes me nervous but I am ready to get the show on the road.
@Redpuma119 Ahhhh. So not to sound like an idiot, but what is PCOM? I have PCOS and am kinda all over the map too...high AMH, irregular cycles, NIR and not overweight. We still haven't done an u/s to see if I have the "string of pearls" cysts on my ovaries. We will do that when I start Femara (now next cycle...hopefully )
I hope if you try the Metformin, that it does work for you. I was pretty concerned about diarrhea and nausea, but really didn't have any issues. I think the ER does help, and then taking it with a healthy meal. Good luck!!
@JuneRoseRuby I hope your appointment went well today!
@50wife On my hsg I didn't have a full blockage, just "spiderwebs" (ha I'm sure that's a real medical term). But what happened is that the balloon shifted and touched the wall of my uterus which was LITERALLY THE MOST PAINFUL THING I'VE EVER FELT. So hopefully the hysteroscopy won't be the same! Thanks for the tip on taking meds beforehand.
@Hollyyyyy Well I've kind of felt like I was going to throw up ever day constantly this whole week...but otherwise good? Some days I feel hopeful and other days I feel furious that I'm doing IVF when I should be like 25 weeks pregnant. So who knows. Thanks for asking. I'm so glad to hear the metformin seems to be helping you! I hope femara is just the ticket for your bfp
@Hollyyyyy Don't feel like an idiot! I hadn't heard about it either. It's polycystic ovarian morphology. So some of the symptoms of PCOS are there, but I don't have the syndrome. I still don't know if I understand it fully. I didn't have the string of pearls, but I had around 15 on each, which the dr didn't like. And thanks for the info on metformin. I was hoping I could just take it at night and sleep through it!!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IUI with clomid and ovidrel
How are things going? Moderately patiently waiting. I imagined these 2 weeks would fly by since I'm fairly busy but here we are not even a week and the

Oh and minor details....They use stuff to clean the area prior to going in so you'll have brown discharge from that (as well as possible spotting) through the day so you'll need a liner for sure when you leave. They told me it stains so I guess consider that when choosing your pants/underwear that day just incase.
@RVAmom315 it sounds like you've got a good and well thought out plan!
@Aurora1973 I'm so sorry about cd1!
@adirat so glad things are moving forward!

I hope if you try the Metformin, that it does work for you. I was pretty concerned about diarrhea and nausea, but really didn't have any issues. I think the ER does help, and then taking it with a healthy meal. Good luck!!
Any questions? Anyone using natural resources like pineapple/vegetarian diet to assist?
GTKY: What languages do you speak? Any that you wish you spoke? English and a little French and even less Portuguese. Wish I spoke more French since my husband and MIL speak it well.
