Baby Names

Incorporating "Les" in baby name

my grandfather's name was Lester, I don't want to use the full name because it opens a world of bullying. He went by Les, never Lester. It's very early, but if current baby is a boy I would like to incorporate "Les" into the middle name. Would it sound ok as a stand alone MN with a longer first name? Last name starts with B and rhymes with "rain". Two syllables.

Re: Incorporating "Les" in baby name

  • I think you could go the middle name route with Les. I have a family member whose middle name is Web after his great grandfather Wilbur.

  • I agree and would do Les as a middle name works fine

  • I think it would be fine as a middle name. I don't think you know the sex yet right? You could also use the name Leslie/Lesley which can be unisex.
  • I like the idea of Les as a mn.
  • I guess I don't understand the bullying one would receive from Lester? Especially if it is in the MN spot which doesn't come up a ton at school.

    Leslie is a great suggestion.

Really?  Lester the molester comes to mind immediately.

I think Les as a middle name is super cute.

Seriously? Lester the molester.... I'd rather not set my kid up for a life time if awful nicknames.

Thanks everyone. If it's a boy we will use Les as a middle name.

Wait, what was grandpa's middle name?  Could that be a first name option instead of Les. . . just another idea!

His middle name is my dads middle name, as well as my oldest brother's. It's tradition for it to be passed to the oldest son's son. If that makes sense? It's literally been that way since way before my grandpa's family immigrated here on the Mayflower. My dad would have a heart attack if I switched it up  :D

The character was Chester the molester, so no, that did not come to mind. Lester just sounds like an old cowboy name.
