Baby Names Part 2!

Re: Baby Names Part 2!

  • DH has started calling the baby Ronin, I don't completely hate it but I feel something is missing. Ronin means a samurai without a master. I keep scoping the unit boards for names but have yet to find any I like.

@bklynchica How about Alaina / Alena and Tabitha? Tabby is a nickname for Tabitha and it means "graceful".
I've actually been planning on Tova for years since his mom passed. It's her Hebrew name and actually Hebrew for Toby. I was thinking about Alaina, and see that @peacedancelove has an Alaina and it looks very pretty, but we just know too many people with variants. So many Elena's.
  • When I was pregnant with my 13 year old, if he was a girl our name we picked out was Alanha Rose. I still love that name but I am no longer with my 13 yr olds father so I feel weird about considering that name for my girl.

  • We are so stuck on baby names. We are having a boy with MN Daniel. We are using a C name to go with his family's tradition. But cannot agree on a C name. We don't care if it's common or unique - we're leaning more towards unique but they're hard to come by. suggestions???? And no Christopher or any variation of Chris please!

I've asked this before but we're still stuck lol

@ariasbabyblog My sister is names Samantha Elizabeth with a long Germanic/Old English last name. She goes by Sami almost exclusively. I also have a long first, middle, and last name and wished parts were shorter.

Our girl name was going to be Delilah and we'll save it in case we have a girl next time. Our boy name right now is Aiden. No middle names yet but I like Dean for a mn. I'm saving Finnley (Finn) for a boy (or maybe a girl) for future LOs but DH doesn't like it as much as Aiden. We both immediately liked that one.

    Cooper
    Julian
    Silas
    Miles
    Finley
    Taylor
but my boyfriend is a jerk and hates everything I suggest and offers none of his own suggestions besides saying Julian might be alright haha
  • @MamaMJ2 my DH is the same way..I keep sending him my list of names and he ignores them completely and comes up with absolutely terrible names and gets mad when I tell him that. Lol but admits he doesn't even look at the names I send

@amber0529 mentioned Cameron and I love that name. I think that would be our name if our very good friends didn't have a son named Cameron.

@MamaMJ2 I love the name Miles. I think it goes well with Reed and Landon. Also love those names too.
  • @mymulligan I think Miles is my favorite but I don't think he's gonna go for it
@kaitlinlix at least you're getting some suggestions! I can't get one single name out of him!

  • We are Team Green. If it is a boy, his name will be Theodore Henry. H will not consider another boy's name even though it has no significant meaning to us. I threw out Kai as a boy's name and H has decided to like it for a girls name. H has latched on to Audrey, if baby is a girl but I am having a hard time getting behind it (TW in spoiler). I keep throwing out other names;  Charlotte, Grace, Amelia, Olive/Olivia but he shoots them down "because I am not listening to his choice".
My college roommate lost her preemie daughter, Aubrey, at the beginning of the month. In my mind the names are too close and the timing is too soon for me to name my daughter Audrey. H refuses to listen saying that the names are not the same and we only see her in person a couple of times a year. I don't know.

  • @sarahunderthesea I totally see where you are coming from regarding the similarity to your friend's daughter and I would feel the same as you. I don't think I could name my baby Audrey even though it is a beautiful name. Unfortunately due to the timing, your baby is going to be a reminder to her. My heart breaks for your friend and I'm sure it is hard for you as her friend.

@MamaMJ2 if you knew his suggestions you'd kno they weren't really suggestions (well maybe in his mind they were) but OMG beyond terrible. I swear he was making some of them up just to see what I'd say. There's one he sent me that neither of us even knew how to pronounce! It was like 15 letters long but he liked the meaning. Seriously?!
  • @kaitlinliz haha that's ridiculous but kind of funny from an outsiders perspective! With our last baby mine refused to talk about names said that when he saw him he would just know and we picked Reed which is a good name but we didn't take into consideration that our dogs name is Reece so they're super similar and we mix them up all the time! Point proven sweetheart, we have to talk about names ahead of time so we at least have an idea and also can avoid something like that happening again!
  • Anyone want to update us on their name choices?

  • FTM mom expecting a boy. I had tons of girl names I was willing to go to the mat for but nothing I felt super strong about for boys. I had suggested Adrian and August but both were rejected by hubby. He is Latin and wanted to name baby after himself and his father, but I'm Jewish and not about that. We have agreed on Ignacio, whom we will call Nacho. Now I'm having a hard time finding a middle name. Last name rhymes with "terra." Suggested mn James, Eitan, Itai, Jude, Eliot. He suggested Hunter and Angel. So far, have tentatively agreed that Jacob could work. Any other ideas? I'd prefer J or H names for my grandfathers but can't find anything. Jonah and Judah don't pair well with the last name.
  • @NYTino24 we still haven't decided. I have a list, but he hasn't looked at it yet even tho it's been sitting at his desk for weeks now
  • Still haven't decided. We had one got a girl but are having a boy. No one really in our families yo name him after, either not great people in our pasts or names have been used too much. (At family get togethers we have 3 Marys).  DH likes Ronin.  We want a strong name but not one that sounds pretentious and while he wants some "cool" sounding names like Dax all I hear is a surfer guy not someone who will be successful.
  • I'm thinking Evan Edward Bri******. Husband and my father's middle names are both Edward, and the more I put it together with Evan the more I like it. I was originally leaning toward Anthony or William for the MN (one of the grandfather's names) but I am starting to lean towards Edward. I'm open to thoughts though.

  • We are having a girl and still have no idea. We prefer not too common names but just can't agree on anything. He likes that name Landry for a girl. I kind of like it but I'm just not sure. Any thoughts?
  • DH is no help at all. I gave him a list and his answer was no to almost everything, but he was neutral on Samantha and sort of liked Elizabeth. Elizabeth Samantha? Samantha Elizabeth? No idea.

  • I hate picking boy names but I had a list of like 8 girl names I loved. We came to an agreement really easily for this boy though. My SOs best friend passed away suddenly in December so we are naming him Christopher after his friend.
Originally we said the middle name micheal but now I think I like joeseph better!

  • @littlemissc17 I don't like Landry myself - an unusual name is fine but this just sounds kind of random.

  • @Abby7 thanks for the feedback!
  • @Abby7 I don't mind it, but as a teacher, I can see kids teasing and saying "laundry".

Our son will have his father's first name as his middle name because that's the family tradition. We are undecided on the first name as DH didn't want to start talking about until after we found out the sex.

I like Samantha, it's pretty. Elizabeth is a great name (I picked it for my confirmation name way back when) but it's also super common which is the main reason we didn't use it for DD.

  • FTM and our boy will be Henry Weston Backhouse M**** after H's great grandfather. It includes my MILs maiden name which is a part of tradition. He will go by Weston since H already goes hub Henry (also his middle name)

Our girl choice was Aurora Leslie nn Rory but it's on hold in case we ever get to bring home our last girl embryo from the freezer

Finley is on my list for my girl. If I were to have a boy I wanted his name to be Finnegan, Finn for short. But I love Finley for a girl. I actually love Charlie for a girl but DH doesn't like it. I also like Bellamy. My boys names came naturally but a baby girl name is tough.

  • @cwalker042  you could possibly name her Charlie/Charley or maybe have her initials be CC as well?
  • I wanted to name her Charley/Charlie but DH doesn't like the name. Even before my brother died I wanted that name for my girl. I thought about having her middle name just CC after my brother but nothing is sounding good to me right now.

  • @cswalker. Charlotte, Charlene , Caroline or Cynthia
  • I don't want a popular name. I like unusual names but it doesn't have to start with a C. I just want to incorporate my brother's name some how. Names we both like are Bellamy and Finley but using Charley as a middle
name I'm not sure sounds right.?

  • Maybe look at name meanings?  And pick a name that means the same as  Charles.  Not necessarily a diminutive but one with a common meaning that represents him as her namesake
