Re: PGAL Check-in 7/12

  • How far along are you?
    Yesterday was 6w+5.

    Any appointments coming up?
My appointment is scheduled for first thing next Thursday morning. I've been calling hoping someone cancels on Monday or Tuesday because my TH may be going out of town at the end of next week for work.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
Ehhh. I've had good days and bad days. I'm really, really hoping that I can get into the doctor on Monday or Tuesday.

  • For those on Progesterone suppositories, how long are you using them for? The first RE I saw said 10 weeks, but this one says 12. I'm eager to be done with them because they're obnoxious, but I'm also nervous to stop too soon.
  • @chasingroygbiv my RE has me on the injections until 10 weeks
  • hdaleyhdaley member
I am 4 weeks along.  Is 14 for progesterone an okay number?

@chasingroygbiv  I'm not sure.  I'm going to be on them until at least my first ultrasound on 7/31.  I talked to a nurse from my ob/gyn and she said they usually keep you on it til 10 weeks

  • Would you think there would be harm in going until 12? My main issue right now is that I'm 110% sure I'm 8 weeks and not 7 and some change. Going by ovulation I am 8 weeks today. I also went back and looked at the radiologists notes on my u/s and my due date according to LMP was 2/28, but baby measured 2/22, which is ovulation calculation. If I take it up to 12 weeks, it would be more like 13...  :/ Maybe I'm thinking too much..
  • 10 weeks is shortly past the point when the placenta takes over in making progesterone. That's why you can usually stop taking it then.
  • @heatherdubrow Thanks, I'll have to e-mail and confirm tomorrow. I'll just explain that I'm confused (and nervous) because my previous doctor suggested differently. This is also why I wish my MFM appt would get set up.  :/

Any appointments coming up? F/U monday

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)
This is my first post in this check in. This is pregnancy #6 for us. We have two girls (soon to be 6, and 17 months) and have had 3 ectopics. I was SURE this was another ectopic after a TL;DR history of severe Tubal factor,  I have one tube left and was recently DX with an obstruction and hydrosalpinx so I was supposed to have the tube taken out sometime in the near future. Today we confirmed a sac in my uterus, which is astounding to me, I am still in total shock. My last ectopic was right after my LO was born, so I was sure she would be our last.  Random trivia: I have been pregnant every single year since 2010.

Any appointments coming up? Had an HCG done today.  They wanted an early HCG draw before I could even schedule an appointment this time.  Usually blood work is first drawn at 7 weeks for this practice.  Level looked good though (over 3,000!) so I'm slightly less anxious now.

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouaged here)

Mostly I'm doing ok.  Trying to be optimistic.  I want to hear the HB then I will be able to relax a lot more.  We haven't told anyone yet and it's fun just having this secret to ourselves for now!

Not sure what to think right now. Part of me is happy and excited, while the rest of me is anxious. Been testing every day to see that second line get darker to keep me calm...

Third Beta and progesterone check on Monday

How are you doing? (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouaged here).
Ehh I am very anxious/nervous. I feel like I keep needing to be my own advocate with my RE. Thanks to the ladies here, I pushed for a progesterone check. Nurse called and said oh yeah it was 12 and said that was fine. Now after talking to the ladies here, I feel it is low and left a message with my RE about it. I just hate that I feel like they aren't paying attention to my history of 2 losses. I am hoping this is all unnecessary, but PGAL brain so hard right now. I also have no symptoms except constantly sore boobs (which then of course according to google can be a symptom of low progesterone in pregnancy ughh).

@journogrl23 I am right there with you. PGAL brain is so hard. I hope that we are both able to find some calming optimism, despite how hard it is

    @SP128 hooray for fantastic betas!!

@hullabalou I understand your conflicting feelings, its hard. Not gonna lie, I actually read your post and wished I was puking haha.

@missydallas so excited that your ultrasound is 1 week away!

@chasingroygbiv all the positive thoughts your way. It is good that it is small, but I definitely understand your worry

    @mdfarmchick hooray for nausea!! hahah

@ellekell 4 more days! I hope you have a wonderful u/s! I completely understand how you feel, I feel the same way with feeling that I should be more positive/excited, but also guarding my fragile heart

@jesuisjamie how did the appt with the midwife go??

  • @GG620 if it makes you feel better, sore boobs is one of the biggest symptoms I've had so far, and I can tell they are growing so maybe it's not a bad thing. I think sore boobs are pretty common. And a couple of people have said 13 or so is what the suppositories have brought the progesterone up to? Hopefully 12 is in the range.
  • GG620GG620 member
@mdfarmchick I am definitely hoping that everything is perfectly fine and sore boobs is a great sign, just hate that I am over-analyzing everything as also possibly something bad. I think after talking to the doctor (if he says everything is fine and not to worry) that I will feel better. Thanks :)

Hi ladies. I would appreciate some positive vibes. My doctor called and isn't super happy with my numbers. My hcg very nearly doubled, but not quite and my progesterone is low. He is starting me on progesterone suppositories immediately and more bloodwork on Monday. I have had two early losses and am just sort of a wreck. I have had cramping, but just hoping it is normal 1st tri cramping. I really hope this medication can make a difference and be the miracle we need. Anypne have any experiences? Guess I am just looking for some hope.

@GG620, I'm kind of in the same boat. My first 2 hcg levels had a doubling time of 85 hours :/ They were 24 on 14DPO and 43 on 17DPO. My OB ran my levels again exactly one week later, and they were 642 (which would put my doubling time at 42 hours). My progesterone was also at a 12, which I guess is the low end of average. So I'm on a progesterone supplement as well.

I haven't had an ultrasound yet. My first one should be on Tuesday. So I'm not sure how things are going to turn out for me. But my OB seems optimistic, and I'm having lots of symptoms. So I'm trying to be positive about the whole situation.

Ill be sending you all sorts of positive vibes.

@ellekell it does sound like we are in very similar situations. I will be hoping for you as well that everything turns out perfectly fine. Out of curiosity, have you had cramping? If so, how often? Mild/severe etc

I've had some really mild cramping, but nothing I've been too concerned about. And I haven't had much cramping over the past week (I'm currently 7w 1d).

I did have some very light spotting at 5w 5d, but I had definitely over exerted myself the previous day. So I'm hoping that was the cause of the spotting.

  • To all ladies who have experienced a loss, how do you keep trying? When do you say enough is enough? When do you accept that what you have (0, 1, 2 etc) kids is it? I have a DD, had an ectopic in the fall, and had a bit of bleeding this morning...if I lose this one I feel like my heart and mind can't take it anymore...

@mountain_girl  I've had two losses and I'm terrified of losing this one.  I'm having a tough PGAL afternoon. However, I know that even if things done work out with this little one my DH and I will keep on trying.  I want it too bad to stop right now.  I feel like I still have some options.  This one was conceived through my first IVF cycle.  I'm trying to tell myself that it will all be worth the wait in the end.

  • @mountain_girl My first loss was in June. If we lost another one, I don't know that I would give up until I had exhausted all the options, or couldn't handle the pain anymore. DH and agreed years ago before we got married that we wanted to adopt, so I would have my "big family" one way or another. I hope that everything is fine and that you get your rainbow baby in March. <3
  • @mountain_girl DH and I are pretty sure we will be done if this ends up being another loss.

I already have 2 previous losses, but it's not really the fear of another loss that would stop us at this point. We already have 2 kids, ages 6 and 4, and DH is getting close to 40. Although I don't feel like that is too old to try for a 3rd, he does.

At this point I would love to have a third child. But I know that there is a real chance that this pregnancy won't work out the way we would like. And if it doesn't, then I think I'm just ready to put this part of our parenting journey behind us.

DH and I also realize we might completely chance our mind on that if we do end up having another loss. This is just were we are right now.
