November 2017 Moms

Nursing clothes

Hello ladies hopefully I'm not doubling this topic if it's already been done running around with a toddler all day plus in home child care I don't have time to keep up with the boards like I use to. I am a second time mom due in Nov. Just wanting to hear everyone's favorite nursing bras and clothes choice. I have nursing bras from my last pregnancy but I'm kinda wanting to hear what everyone else enjoyed I ended up with three cases of masitis and milk blisters repeatedly I'm wondering if my bra choice had anything to do with that maybe it didn't allow for my milk to flow out properly because I never missed a feeding or pump session. Hope to hear some great feedback on products.

I bought these and like them.  I didn't want to spend the money on something I was only going to wear temporarily.  I should have as I've been in them for almost 2 years now.

If you are looking to spend some money I have heard AMAZING things about Soma Nursing bras.

  • @av2323 I have those same exact bras and they worked and are comfortable sometimes I worried that the padded breast insert was maybe too much and pushed my nipple down not allowing my milk to flow. Im not sure what caused all my troubles just hoping the second time goes more smooth. Will definitely be talking to my lc about all my troubles I also had a super abudance of milk so that could have been it also. It took me months to wean. Thank you though
  • @shortstuff15 What nursing bras have you used? I used these a lot in the beginning and I definitely developed those awful milk blisters when I used a padded bra when I went back to work. https://www.target.com/p/nursing-sleep-bra-2pk-gilligan-o-malley-153/-/A-16754657#preselect=14055275

Definitely want to not have pressure especially if you have an oversupply. Would it be possible to go without a bra and maybe just a tshirt for some time? I hope this time goes much more smoothly for you.

  • I wish I could help! I wasn't happy with my bra choices with my first either. I just wore whatever I found at Target one day. They were fine and mostly comfy, but I felt like I was constantly adjusting them. I loved the nursing tank I got there though. I think you may be right, that your over supply may have contributed to the mastitis and milk blisters. I had the opposite problem, but when she was cutting down her feedings and I was staying more full is when I dealt with the milk blisters. So I would definitely talk to your LC!
  • I would guess that the problems were more due to an oversupply than your specific bra (unless it was really tight or would get damp from leakage and keep your nipples damp). I would definitely talk to your LC about your issues and see what she says.

For bras, I used mostly Bravado nursing bras and then random ones from Target once I needed some thickness. I love the Bravado!

  • My gut says that maybe it wasn't your bra.  I wore regular bras and had no issues.  It sounds like it could be either a latch or an oversupply or overactive letdown issue.  We did have another post that recommended kellymom.com as a breastfeeding bible and I agree wholeheartedly.  I had overactive letdown with my son and I'm not sure I would've been able to continue our bfing journey if not for the help and advice I got from that site and from fellow nursing moms.  Also of note is that I've been told each nursing experience is different.  You may not have the same issues this time.  My advice would be to browse through kellymom and learn about different issues and their symptoms.  Good luck! Mastitis sucks

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
