IF/Testing Weekly Check In 6/19

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another.  Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say, and treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (If you've been):

Cycle/CD:

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)

How are things going?

Any questions?

GTKY: If you had to pick a new screen name, what would it be and why?

ETA sorry forgot to update the GTKY!

  • Loading the player...
  • @TravelingCouple Glad you did better with the second shot! I'm keeping my FX for you that the IUI happens before your trip... it's not fair to add one more thing that IF messes up :(
  • @TravelingCouple I was worried about that being an issue for me because I passed out after fixating plasma before. I had my DH drive me for that reason!

    @zwink1 thanks, friend!

@Sailing_Mama maybe you won't have as much drawn as me! I know my gyn added hiv, hepatitis, varicella, and a few others so that probably why it was so many. She said I'd need those anyway down the road.
    Me: 31 DH: 32
    Dating since: 11/17/2001
    Married: 9/26/2009

    EDD: 5/14/2018

  • I heard from the nurse that my blood draw this morning for estradiol showed a level of 43. She said they like to see over 50 at this stage of the cycle. I feel like I am not responding to anything...the Letrozole alone did nothing, and now I've had 2 injections of the Gonal F so far and my levels are still low. Feeling very frustrated. I go back Thurs for U/S to see how my follies are doing.
  • @vflux33 I think you really nailed it - they are more personalized in their approach. Mine is also super helpful - for any testing she writes down what I need, then I can literally just go to any walk in clinic (or family doctor) and ask for it (being Canadian, if the GP orders it, we don't pay, but a test through the naturopath is out of pocket). I know there may be a point where she can't help me - but she has had lots of success with PCOS patients getting pregnant. She's also open that if there is a point where she thinks I should see someone else, she'll let me know up front. I think working with them both is also a good idea - you're getting the best of both schools of thought!
  • @Sailing_Mama Very true about the 2 schools of thought. I hope that works to my benefit, but they won't work together, which may be a problem down the line. My RE is very anti-giving information. When I asked her the size of my follicles at my u/s on Saturday she asked why I needed to know. Like, hey, it's my body, how about you tell me what's going on in it if I ask without making me feel weird, you know? Polar opposite experience with the naturopath who will test whatever I want and explain everything. I know from my fertility acupuncturist (who recommended this naturopath) that my particular RE doesn't believe in anything natural/acupuncture and doesn't like to dialogue with patients so I am sort of worried if my naturopath thinks I have PCOS based on my upcoming test results how my RE would react to that (since she told me I 100% couldn't have PCOS, refused to test the relevant hormone levels, and was kind of abrasive and rude when I inquired about the tests at all). But I guess I'll cross that bridge when and if that happens. Again if I had a time machine I would go back and go to the naturopath 6 months before I started with the RE and do my initial testing with her. So I think your approach is ideal, and I hope it works out for you without needing these crazy drugs and interventions.
