Re: Weekly randoms June 19th

  • I'm starting the second half of the Insanity workouts from beach body DVDs this week. The first half went good but my eating habits sucked so I only lost three pounds. I'm hoping the more intense workouts plus better eating help me drop more weight.
Also DS turns 7 months tomorrow yea!
Also I'm so tired of pumping, but here I am at 5 am pumping because I produce enough milk to get him through a day. I almost wish I didn't so I'd have an excuse to stop, sigh...

  • Seriously @rspalding001 3 lbs in one week is amazing!

About 7 years ago, I got E. coli in Mexico. It was so bad that I had to be hospitalized when I got home. I've had constant stomach problems since then and after last week's stomach bug, I decided to do something about it. I've been eating really well since last week and finally made an appointment for a gastroenterologist. I'm just worried that they're going to say I need an endoscopy/colonoscopy and I'll have to stop breastfeeding.

@RhodaMorgenstern I've had a few colonoscopies. I wouldn't think any of the medications they would give you either for prep or during the procedure would stay in your breast milk for very long. Or are you concerned that whatever they found might mean you have to stop altogether?
  • A little bit of both. My supply has decreased since A started solids so I'm worried that between the prep and the day of procedure, my supply would tank. I'm also just worried something is wrong with my liver. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and I'm still passing a large amount of bile, even normally.
  • @m6agua good luck with the job application! Keep us updated if you get an interview! I'm currently looking for jobs too but looking for a November 1 start date makes things a bit more complicated.

@RhodaMorgenstern that sounds miserable. Hope it all goes well and you get some good news!

  • I wish it was one week, HAHAHAHAHA :) but no, it was 6 weeks sadly.

@m6agua good luck with the job, I hope you get it!
@rhodamorgenstern I'm sorry :( I hope your supply isn't affected and everything goes well!

I already forgot which thread the Dawson v Pacey thing was in, but here is another.  Did anyone watch Felicity? If so were you team Noel or team Ben?   I was Noel all the way!

(my friend and I talked about this at lunch because she mentioned liking Jake on Scandal and she never watched Felicity)
  • I signed up for a 15 day core challenge. A short exercise video of a core/ab workout is emailed everyday.
    lets see how this goes.

@kvruns I never watched falicity but I am team jake. Was fitz at first but last season he bothered me.

  • I never watched Felicity either, but was always Team Jake. Fitz has always been a little too misogynistic for me. I actually stopped watching because it bothered me how dependent and weak Olivia became around him. Like how can you be so awesomely assertive with everyone and everything and then cower at him?

  • I thought Fitz was creepy but I dislike both him and Olivia. Team Smelly Mellie!

  • Ugh Fitz is a whiny little Weiner. I can't stand him. Man up and do the right thing instead of moaning over Vermont all the damn time. Bleh.

  • Guys. I have to share this recipe. I know it's unhealthy and I could probably substitute things to make it healthier but it's so. Stinking. Good. I follow the recipe except I don't use the parmesan cheese. We did once and it just seemed like a lot of cheese. But it's so easy and so good.

  • I loved Felicity, but I don't remember which guy I liked better. Ugh, Scandal, I am so far behind. I only finished season 1. Started season 2 and just never was able to catch up.

Oh oh and I screen shoted the casserole. It looks and sounds so damn tasty! Thx for sharing!!

I cannot get a second letdown pumping these past few days. And I use 2 pumps so I can't blame the pump. So I'm barely pumping it seems and then with B not wanting to latch makes me start to wonder if I'm not producing or what although they feel full so it is there it just won't come out!
  • @kvruns do they feel painfully hard? Any lumps? I had a duct blockage and wasn't pumping a lot. Hot shower, hand expression and once I massaged the blockage out, it was back to normal.
  • kvrunskvruns member
@RhodaMorgenstern nope no pain. I had a clogged duct early on but it doesn't feel like that. And really they don't feel hard, just not empty. I was able to hand express about an ounce out until my time was up in the conference room. Not sure what is up!

When was the last time you changed the membranes on your pump? That can make a world of difference.

I changed them not too long ago. For mine I've never noticed a big difference in changing them.

I pumped well this afternoon, so who knows
  • Pumping just SUCKS!!  I can't believe I actually thought EPing would've been easier when we were having latching issues in the beginning.

Yes. Yes it does. It's the one thing I'm always super excited to be done with when I stop BF. Otherwise I'm good to BF until whenever.

  • Major separation anxiety at bed time tonight. She can put herself to sleep 99% of the time but she was not having it tonight. I tried to lay her down twice and she just knew I was trying to sneak out. Eventually all I did was stand there and she went to sleep. Poor baby just didn't want to see me leave.

Ditto! I was not on the BF train at the beginning and had planned to EP but decided to give BF a brief try

Mines been having that too. Although he would still cry if I just stayed in there but didn't touch him
  • PSA: new photo. When I'm scrolling, I usually can tell who's who by their photos without having took look at the name so wanted to give you fair warning :D

And +100 to pumping sucking. My supply seems to have gone down in the last few weeks, and the arrival of today's period  makes me wonder if that's why? I have no idea why I think that.
(Side note: lol @ my sense of time for everything... I feel like I'm always saying "a few/couple weeks/days/months ago". Oh, I used to have the best memory!)

Thanks for the PSA. I look to the photos first also.

B started babbling last night and this morning and continues practicing his "D" sound .... dadadadadadadadadada. Each time I look at him sternly and say no, that will not be your first word. LOL He actually said it around H last night but you could tell it was just making sounds and not trying to say dada.

I have said it before (many times) but i will say it again, i hate pumping too! even though i am one of those women who love BFing, feel a special connection during nursing etc. i am counting the months to the day i can stop pumping. then i am planning to wean whenever my supply is gone and DD is ready to wean

This is how I felt with ODD and sure enough the first real articulate thing was "hi daddy". I've decided "d" is just easier to mutter than "m"; we can't take it personally.

  • Taking some of your ideas and debating putting in a play yard! It would be in my basement so not perfect for getting chores done but I think him having a super safe place to play in the basement is a great idea. I may even consider buying a second set of monitors so I can keep an eye on him.
We use video in the bedroom. Should we use video here too or is sound okay?

He had his dr apt yesterday. He is being sent for an ultrasound on his hips to make sure they are not starting to dislocate. She's not too concerned since she thinks his leg rolls are off because he's getting chunkier not because of hip issues.
Also gave us a prescription for his eye for when it gets really bad while we try to work through this blocked duct.
  • kvrunskvruns member
@kristah2 I'm glad they are checking his hips now. My coworker's DD just turned 15 months and had to see an orthopedic doctor because she still wasn't walking (she would stand, and "walk" holding onto stuff but that was it).  The Dr. found out her hips were dislocated and if it had been found out earlier they could have fixed it easily but now she has to have surgery and be in a hip cast :(
  • @kvruns oh no! Poor thing, I can't imagine a hip case at that age!
I hate the thought of something being wrong but like you said, better to catch it now!
  • @kvruns Oh no!! :( Poor baby girl. That hurts my heart. Is it a full recovery type of thing?
