All went well today! Baby wad being stubborn so there were two views they couldn't get, he refused to turn! They had me walk, jump, drink caffeine and he moved but wouldn't turn. Stubborn already! The doctor was busy and couldn't go over results with us but tech said all looked good from what they got. They want us to come back in a month for the two images they couldn't get. And he is definitely a he! I'll share photos later
Eta they made us sign an insurance waiver bc apparently insurance doesn't always cover the AS?! Basically it said we agree to pay of insurance doesn't cover. I thought AS was pretty standard?

My insurance said we have run over the allowable limit for ultrasounds (I have a subchorionic hemorrhage that the doc is monitoring, so lots of U/S). They keep denying all ultrasounds (even my AS), and I have to keep appealing saying they are medically necessary.
My AS on Friday went well. Sea monkey was super active and kept kicking and pushing the ultrasound wand away and wiggling away from view. I didn't meet with Dr, that is in 2 weeks, but the tech said everything looked good except they were not able to get the "standard" views of the spine so I have to go back in 4 weeks for another scan. I am trying not to freak out since the tech didn't seemed too concerned but I realized my blood screening results were never released either (they were done late at 18 weeks/2 weeks ago). So now I am a hot mess trying not to worry about it and I keep looking at the pictures to see the spine to see what I can find which is a terrible idea because it is just like "yep, that's a spine...is that what it is supposed to look like?"
We are Team Green but my sister came along and found out the sex. She is a great secret keeper but it is already making me crazy that she knows something about my baby before I do...I am baby's mother! Its my fault since I said she could know but I had not expected these feelings. Grr. I have been having girl feelings and my sister said it was "obvious" what sex baby is, so now I am doubting myself and thinking maybe boy. Either way, I still don't know and doubt my sister will slip up.
@sarahunderthesea try not to stress too much, apparently it's super common to not be able to visualize everything due to baby position or other non -worrisome factors. Ours was Friday too and they couldn't get his profile or palate so we are going back in 4 weekd as well. It's giving me slight anxiety but tech wasn't worried and said it's normal. Hope that helped! When do you go back?
@jess0211 July 21. I don't want to wish away this pregnancy but I want it to hurry up and be here so I can know sea monkey is all good. Until then I guess I have to satisfy myself with what I know looked good. DD was so cooperative at her AS, funny how different LO's (and pregnancies) can be and this one hasn't even arrived yet.
@sarahunderthesea Are you able to go online to the lab companies website and view your results? The company my OBs office uses for all lab work I can usually see the results before my office calls me. If you are a healthcare professional or know one they can interpret or mine has a really easy reporting as well that shows the formatting as normal range, below normal and above normal. They also provide a breakdown of what "normal" is considered. I reviewed my results even after the OB called because DH wanted to see the specific lab results on a couple of things.
With DD1 I had 3 scans instead of 1 AS all because she wasn't cooperating. Everything turned out fine and I got a lot of photo keepsakes.
Had mine today at 19-6. Baby BOY looked great and was sucking on his hand the whole time. My placenta is still low but not complete previa. Hopeful it will move up by the time we do our follow up in 8 weeks.
@sarahunderthesea we go back on the 21st as well. Fx all goes well for both of us! I also don't want to wish this pregnancy away but just want to know all is well.
Has anyone's physician not changed their due date when measurements are off and you know exactly what day you ovulated? I'm ok with leaving my date as is and truly just am so excited that baby is healthy. I found it odd though that I'm measuring 21w6d with a due date of Nov 1 but we are sticking with Nov 13. OB said they use concrete dating and only establish the date at the first appointment within 7 days and use this date for all testing and scheduling purposes but otherwise the date doesn't mean much to them. She did explain if I came in at 34 weeks with contractions that we would review again then to determine if treatmeant is needed but otherwise not to focus on the number.
I think for sanity purposes im going to stick with Nov 13 mentally so I wont think I'm late starting Nov 1.
@maegpie Did you have a dating ultrasound? That one is much more accurate in terms of figuring out a due date than the scans now. Or do you know when you ovulated?
@maepie Did you have an earlier ultrasound? My understanding is that AS is not accurate for dating.
With my first my due date was pushed up by a week due to my 12 week ultrasound, even though I was certain that was wrong. In hind sight, I wish I'd fought them, because I ended up having to be induced at 10days past due, even though in reality it was only 3:/. Hopefully in your case, it shouldn't result in a negative outcome?
Our scan was today. She was a little wiggle worm and the tech had to be very patient. We were supposed to meet with my OB after but she was called to an emergency delivery. We saw the Nurse Practitioner instead and she said everything looks great. We do go back to see my OB in 2 weeks to confirm she likes everything. Once piece of good news we received is that my cervix is measuring long at 6 which is apparently great for folks who have previously had pre-term labor. She was optimistic that the Makena injections coupled with the longer cervix will let baby bake a little longer.
My dr told me that if the baby measures 4-5 days off they typically don't change the due date. And if the baby is measuring ahead they typically don't change it unless it is a week off. Babies have growth spurts differntly and some may measure ahead initially and would slow down later or some may start slower and catch up so its best to identify due date closer in the third trimester.
@maepie I've had 7 ultrasounds and baby measured a week ahead last time, but my EDD wasn't changed. I know I ovulate late anyway, but it will be interesting to see if LO is even bigger at the anatomy scan since we haven't seen him or her since 12w and I'm a lot bigger now! @av2323 Great news!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I had to reschedule my A/S. It was scheduled for July 10th but I found out today that our computer system training starts that day. I started a new job yesterday. This is a brand new office with all brand new staff so I cannot miss this training. I called MFM to reschedule sooner (training is every day until the end of July) and she said she didn't have anything the week prior. I told her I guess I wasn't having an A/S then. I called my OB's office and left a message with the OB coordinator asking if it's okay to have the A/S in August. I was pretty bummed. I just checked my phone and MFM left me a message saying they have an opening July 6th! Yay!! I was so worried I wouldn't be able to have the scan done until next month.
My dating ultrasound showed 6 days earlier than my EDD but they did not change as it was less than 7 days. Using my ovulation date I am 5 days off from EDD so I didn't push it. As long as my OB isn't concerned I'm happy. We will do another ultrasound at 37 weeks to assess size then.
@sarahunderthesea I go back on the 10th to get better pictures of the spine as well. It was obvious during the ultrasound that it looked fine though. I think it's a common thing and worrying isn't worth it. Hopefully baby cooperates for you next time!!
@MississippiCatfish that's what's I'm thinking. Mentally for me if I prepare for a Nov 13 due date and I go a little early great and they should still let me go 2 weeks past the 13th before inducing.

My midwife said they usually stick to the later date (my dating scan at 7 wk was only 2 days ahead from LMP dating anyway) since it's this date they start the count before they induce and it in my case gave a bonus 2 days . So they left it at the 8th instead of moving it . Are you ahead just on this scan or your dating too?
My OB changed the date based on baby's size at my 7-8wk scan. She said the baby was 6 days behind my LMP date. I still wonder if she's wrong. If I'm right then my scheduled cs will be on my due date otherwise it will be 6 days early. I went into labor at 38w both times so I'm not sure I'll make it that long but it's okay.
@maegpie it's common practice not to change a due date after the first trimester/dating ultrasound. I'm 20 weeks and baby is 12oz, which is bigger than normal but staying with the same due date. I think it has to do with the how different babies can change and vary between mom's after the first stage of growth
Had my AS scan today and everything is great! NIPT was accurate and she is a she! I didn't have to have a full bladder at all- they let me go to the bathroom right before. I do go back in 4 weeks for another check-- just standard procedure for all IVF peeps.
Had AS today, all went well. Have to go back next week to get two views of the heart, the tech couldn't get a view of blood flow but she isnt worried. Baby is a BOY and is measuring 12oz at 20 weeks, big boy. We are excited not to be having a dragon.
@sarahunderthesea@jess0211 I have to go back for another look at baby's spine too-- they can't get me in for 2 weeks until July 11! Wish I knew for sure everything was OK but I'm going to just celebrate that everything else looked good. I hope both of your rescans go well.
Okay, mine was measuring 10 oz. at 19w4d. After reading how everyone else is measuring this seems to be on the small side maybe? The doctor didn't really comment on it.
@ooodalollly you seem right on track. I think this app says the average is 10.5 oz at 20 weeks. The tech told us that genetics, size wise, don't start playing a part for a couple more weeks.

Isn't this your mother's intuition from childhood come true!!!!

Edited to add measurement. Using dating ultrasound I'm 21 weeks today. Baby measured 14oz at AS yesterday. Using LMP I'm 20w2d.
