Re: Weekly Appointments Thread - Week of 6/5

  • @scatteringashes I'm a little late to the party, but I just wanted to commiserate.  That's is unbelievably frustrating you're having to jump through that extra hoop. There was a hospital midwife practice near where I used to live who didn't take any women with a weight over 200. Which is ridiculous, because even if you really think an obese bmi automatically makes you high risk (and to be clear I don't, and I don't think the science supports that either) taller women could weigh 200+ and be totally fine or just classified as overweight.  I remember thinking it was the most arbitrary cutoff.  Anyway, I hope your appointment with the dr. goes well and you can be released back to midwife care. Since your appointment went well with her, I'd give her the benefit of the doubt!

  • Called an Ob/Gyn office here in town to see if they're expecting new patients and I have an appointment with a midwife on Tuesday afternoon! <3  Definitely wasn't expecting to get in within 2 business days, so I'll call that a win.  Its an hour closer than my old Ob/Gyn office and they're open later so I'll save a ton of benefit time over the next seven months (and not have to drive super far in the snow!)

The Ob/Gyn office I was going to before was part of the on-call group of doctors for the hospital I want to LDR at so the chances of me getting my own Obstetrician off of the rotation was slim anyways.
