My first appointment is tomorrow afternoon, and I'm very eager for it. I've been dying to have a roadmap and expectations for the specific kind of care this office gives, since I've never been there before. Not knowing what to expect is terrible, lol.
We have a local elective ultrasound "boutique"...not sure what the right terminology is. But basically one of those places where you can go to find out the gender early and get 3d/4d ultrasounds. I have an appointment at that place on Wednesday just to get a 2D US and hear the heartbeat, because we didn't get to hear it at my first US. And my doctor's office doesn't give another US until I'm 20 weeks, and that's forever from now! But I'm excited because we will get pics from the US and they'll record the heartbeat and put it in a stuffed animal! haha
@EmilyLove25 We're almost date twins! but I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was DH's idea one night, and I was like "Nah, we don't need to do that" and the next morning I called him to tell him I was scheduling the appointment!
My dating US is tomorrow afternoon. I am excited and nervous. I know I am between 7-9 weeks, but my symptoms are none. At least we will know how far long we are. Hoping it's healthy but I was super sick with my last two and was in maternity clothes by 7 weeks with my 2nd. This time absolutely nothing, and it's making it hard to get excited. I just have this crazy feel something isn't right.
I just got back from my first prenatal appt. based on my LMP I'm 7w1d. The midwife tried an abdominal us but she couldn't see very well, just got a quick glimpse of the gestational sac. I'm going back in next Monday for a transvaginal one. My anxiety is killing me though! I just want to hear or see a heartbeat and I want to know if there's one or two gummies inside of me.
My first appointment is Thursday! I'm feeling sort of nervous to see if we hear a heartbeat...no reason to suspect we won't, but I've been mostly symptom free so I feel like I won't believe it 'til I hear it, you know?
My 3rd and potentially last U/S with my RE is on Thursday! So excited - although leaving my RE's office will be bittersweet. I just adore all of the staff there.
FX for all of you with first appointments/Ultrasounds. It's nerve wracking and I think we read into anything and everything (no symptoms/cramping/etc). In reality, with some obvious exceptions, we never know what to expect-some women have intense symptoms and MC, some have no symptoms and MC, but by in large most people have healthy babies. I wish that for all of you. PS excuse sentimental pregnancy hormone logic
I have my first appt on Thursday. I'll be 7w1d (based on ovulation) which, I was surprised they scheduled me so early and I am a little nervous but also excited. Going to new OBGYN for the first time and I really hope I like the practice.
I had my first appointment with my midwife today after being released from the RE almost 2 weeks ago! Just a lot of paperwork and questions mostly. I'll see her exclusively until 28 weeks and then she will have me meet with the other midwives in the practice for some of my appointments after that in case one of them is on call when I go into labor so its not a complete stranger walking into the room. Until she said that I hadn't thought about that prospect lol. She tried to find the heartbeat with a Doppler but it wasn't working so she snuck me over for a quick u/s (my first one where I didn't have to take off my pants, winning!) Snowman spent the whole u/s bouncing around and waving, it was adorable.
No appointments until July 3, it will be the longest I'll have gone since the FET without any monitoring or anyone re-confirming that I'm still pregnant. FX my post infertility brain doesn't drive me batty in the meantime!
I have one tomorrow! It's been three weeks since my last one. I almost just said eff it and rescheduled it for two weeks later so I could do the NIPT but decided to do both appointments instead of merging them.
I had my first appointment yesterday with a nurse apractitioner. It was just POAS and going over paperwork. While a bit of a let down, I was able to schedule a dating u/s for tomorrow morning. I'm literally so excited but nervous. It'll be so amazing getting to finally see LO and confirm he/she is actually in there.
Good luck, @ready4theparty! Please let us know how your appointment goes today.
Two hours until I go in for my second scan! My doctor wanted me to get a second early scan, because the heartbeat was 99 at the six week scan. Dr. T. wanted it to be 100+, so she wants to check on the little one again today. I'm excited! I honestly believe we can't have any bad luck left. The difference between 99 and 100 is so small, it isn't enough to make me worry. I'm just happy to see the little one!
I had my first "monthly" appointment this morning. She changed my EDD from 1/5 based on LMP to 1/13 based on the dating US, so I'm 8+3 now. We heard the HB at the US but she doesn't try the Doppler until 10 weeks so I'll go back in 2 weeks for a check. She also gave me the rx to schedule the NT scan at the place they work with for that.
Second appointment is today. I'm hoping for an in-office US today since I'm considered high risk, but since I have one next Friday with the perinatal doctor, I doubt it! FX though!
@PleaseSendPicklesNow. Thanks for asking, the appointment went well. We were able to see the heartbeat which was my biggest concern. I figured I was about 8-9 weeks but measuring at 6w4d. I'll take it since everything looks good
Today's appointment was great. Little Bit looks like a popcorn shrimp, and in 2 weeks she (or he?) went from 2 mm long to 16 mm long. Baby measures 8w 1d, and the heart rate was 156. It was so fun to see our little shrimp!
Have my appointment today for an US and hopefully get to hear the heartbeat this time! Going in for an US is so nerve wracking to me...just hoping ever is ok in there. I'll post pictures on the US sticky if everything looks good!
So, the office called to reschedule my next appointment after we set it up yesterday. Because of my BMI I have to be assessed by an OB at my next appointment to see if I'm healthy enough to qualify for midwife care, and I am soooooooo angry about it. I'm 5'2". Most weights are obese on me, and weight/BMI is not an indication of one's health.
I'm also bummed because I liked the midwife and thought we clicked well, but she didn't mention it at all. Either she didn't see my weight until later, or didn't want to bring it up.
@BelhurstBride I'm not sure if they will make me have an official appointment for the NIPT, but they have someone there on site who usually does blood draws. The NIPT might be different though. I'll check in about it. It would be nice if I went In and could get that box at the same time since my OB is a 45 min drive! (Wasn't fun going in last time only to realize I had my appointment dates screwed up). Thanks for mentioning it!
@madcouplewithabox, do you have a lab closer to you? The blood needs to be drawn in a certain window (I don't remember specifically) but you might be able to get the box from your OB and take it to a more convenient location when it's time for the draw.

Right up the street actually. That would be so awesome if I could!
@scatteringashes I'm so sorry! That is such a bummer they are reevaluating your request to see a midwife based on BMI. BMI is such an outdated method! It is not a true representation of how healthy you are.
@scatteringashes I am sorry they are doing that to you. Can you get a second opinion? I am considered obese based on Bmi and my hospital keeps trying to push a midwife because my previous pregnancies were textbook. BMI should not play a part in whether or not you can or can't have a midwife.
We have our dating us today at 10:15!!! I cannot wait I am so excited just hope everything goes well . DH swears there are 2 but we have no history or reason to believe that would be the case so I just smile and laugh . He is going for twin boys after DD. I just want to see a healthy little heart beat on that screen so I can relax a little more moving forward
@scatteringahses I am so sorry they did that ! Completely out of line !! With my first I had a doula but a normal doctor ( that didn't deliver DD) and basically my husband was my rock along with my doula but she had never indicated to me that weight had anything to do with who you saw . After I had DD I lost 45lbs off of my pre pregnancy weight so I was a lot bigger with her ) Maybe you can look into a different practice in the area, im so sorry they made you feel that way !! I went the natural route and between DH and my doula the doctor didn't do jack except catch her as they were running into the room. ( and sew me up , I guess that was important lol) . Stay strong and speak up for what is right for you and your family , I don't think they have good medical grounds to do what they did in my opinion ( I have no health background so take that coment with a grain of salt from a fellow pregnant lady who is pissed off for you )
I didn't get an US at my appointment this week, but I got to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler. HR was 169, and all of my 1st trimester blood work came back normal, so things are looking good right now. I have THREE doctor's appointments next week, so that should be fun. Perinatal, EKG, and genetic's counseling. I don't think these babies will ever know how much time/effort it takes to make them and get them here. Good thing they're worth it!
@scatteringashes, I'm calling bullshit on that one! I have a girlfriend who is undoubtably obese but is in the care of a midwife. She exercises regularly and eats amazingly well and is hoping for a birth center birth.
Just had my first high risk appointment. Man did it take forever 1.5 hours. I feel like they wanted to know my whole life story, lol. At least I know they will take good care of baby and I. Got a quick ultrasound and everything looked great!. NT scan scheduled for June 20th.
