Same thing @sdarling2010. DH wakes up a little before 5am to leave at 5:30 for work. I woke up when he did. Sometimes I can fall back asleep...today was not one of those days.
It didnt help that baby girl decided it was a good idea to perform uterine gymnastics a the crack of dawn.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@jessafishy a raccoon?! That's intense. Good luck!
we will sometimes hear "scurrying" in our attic we've assumed are mice or squirrels. Last year we set a bunch of traps but all we did was manage to feed these things peanut butter because all the traps had gone off but caught nothing. Smart little effers. Good thing it's about a thousand degrees up there this time of year so I don't think anything will want to live there right now.
@purplestarz I was really hoping it was just a squirrel. It didn't sound that big when we heard it moving around so I guess we just have some really good insulation up there. When we saw the hole in the roof I knew it was a raccoon. Squirrels cannot remove shingles like that.

@Brambles23 uterine gymnastics, apparently early morning is the best time for that! Baby boy seems to think my bedtime and early morning wake ups are also a good time to bounce around in his waterbed.
Babies tend to sleep when you're active during the day because of the movement. When you slow down and relax, that's when they like to wake up and move around. Of course lol
I feel baby move most a little after eating. I've also got 45min drives pretty frequently throughout the day and it's usually prime crotch kicking time for baby.
Another BF...DH and I are close friends with another couple who saved all of their baby stuff specifically to give to us when we ready to have a baby. They are ready and willing to bring the stuff over in their truck, the husband just needs DH's help to climb up into the attic to get it all out and load up the truck. And they only live 10 minutes away. I've asked DH to set up a time to help get the stuff for the last three weeks so we can go through it and figure out the items we'll need to buy/register for. He's gotten irritated at this (I like to prepare!) but this is the same person who suggested a few months ago that his sister stay with us in what will be the baby's room until the end of September, thinking we can set up the room for the baby in a few days (which I shot down immediately). I love him, but his idea of planning is shit sometimes.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@dumbledoredies the baby is definitely moving in there, so if you're not feeling it yet, the movements just aren't quite strong enough yet for you to feel them. I think women must be different too in terms of how sensitive their internal organs are or something because some feel movement so early and some feel movement so late!
If you lay down and you are super still and you really focus on your bump area, you might notice something! It is really hard to notice movement while you are active, before they get really strong and start ninja kicking you in the ribs!
I was in a deposition while pregnant once, in a room full of men, and the baby (I think it was DD2) started king fu fighting. It was soo awkward trying to stay professional and not jump or lurch or interrupt the depo to say something about it.
Thanks for making me feel better about not feeling the baby move yet everyone! It's the one crappy thing about being right at the end of the month- it seems like everyone gets to these moments before me! Which is fine but then I start to worry.
@dumbledoredies I'm one of the weirdos who didn't feel any movement until around 23 weeks the first time around. So, don't fret. And I agree with everyone else who says you're likely to feel it more when you're not doing anything. The first time I was at a long meeting at work siting down for hours. This time around I'm almost 20 weeks and have only maybe felt the slightest movement and only when I'm sitting I the couch not moving for periods of time. I agree that some people must just be more sensitive than others.
@purplestarz they must be more sensitive! I sit on the couch every night now super still with my hand on my belly just waiting.. and waiting and waiting and waiting! I can't wait. I'm so impatient.
@dumbledoredies how far along are you right now? I can't math.

Ah yes! Still early. I felt DS for the first time at exactly 18 weeks and that was still on the early side of things. Hopefully soooooon!

@jessafishy when I said 17w3d I meant 17w5d. Not that it makes much of a difference lol. But yes hopefully soon! I'm a FTM so I'm most excited to feel this peanut move in there!
@dumbledoredies I haven't felt the baby yet either. When my sister was pregnant, her OB told her to chug a little bottle of orange juice before the ultrasound. Apparently, the sugar high gets the little ones all stirred up. I wonder if it would work for just laying down to feel the little one.
I haven't felt anything definitive either and I'm 20w tomorrow. Womp womp.
My BF today is the Whole Foods breakfast bar. I went to bed last night all excited because I was going to stop by and get an obscene amount of bacon and a black iced tea on my way to work. I wanted it SOOO bad. Well they were out of bacon AND black tea. I pitched a fit and they made more bacon but it's all soggy, not the crisp kind they usually have. And this pomegranate green tea tastes like ass. And there was a high school commencement in Boulder this morning so it took me 45 extra minutes to get to work. I'm feeling violent.
@migdala I forgot you're in CO. DH and I were talking the other day and he said something about how he loved going to Whole Foods for dinner on our trip out there last year because all of us can find something we like (And DS eating whole grain pizza and liking it astounded us). I reminded him he can have it all he wants if we move there of course there are stores closer to us, but he won't move to Chicago, so this is his only other choice since they won't build a store here
That's a massive pisser about the bacon though. We went out for mothers day brunch and I was so excited for all the bacon. It was so overcooked that it hurt my teeth trying to bite into it. Don't mess with a pregnant woman and her bacon!
@sjohns908 Most Coloradans are like STAY AWAY WE HAVE ENOUGH TRANSPLANTS but I think the more the merrier so talk your DH into moving already! I love this state
@migdala so I follow 9news on fb and when they have articles about "transplants", I can't believe how insanely rude some people are in the comments. I mean, really, get over yourself. And FWIW, I technically wouldn't be a transplant since I grew up there, so they can kiss it lol. Its astonishing to me because the Midwest is so welcoming, you would never hear comments like that from people here. Granted, we have fields as far as the eye can see, so plenty more room left to grow haha
I love it there so much and I literally bawled when we left to come home last summer. I've pretty much given up hope of moving though. I feel like he may eventually go for it, but then I would always be terrified that he would regret moving away from his family and resent me for it. Idk. Its been a massively stressful thing that has been wearing on me for a year and a half now since we first seriously started talking about it
@sjohns908 oh right right I forgot you grew up here so you already know how awesome it is I feel like if the so-called native Coloradans are so nostalgic for the way it used to be before we got popular, they can always just move to like Pueblo or Grand Junction or something. But of course they won't because they like all the new breweries and dispensaries and restaurants that came with the transplants. Hypocrites!
On another note, summer vacation is going to kill me and it's still a week away. The older two were home maybe 10 minutes and the 3yo has been yelling at them about one thing or another since. I need to get my damn work done and I can't concentrate with this crap. Clearly the answer is to come here and complain about it lol
So for 2 solid weeks, I have been talking about going to Babies R Us to register on Saturday (tomorrow) and SO's been in full agreement. About 5 minutes ago, he says that he doesn't know if we can go tomorrow because his mom really wants to go and she might be too busy. I think his mom is great, but does she have to go? I've barely seen him in 2 weeks, due to our work schedules. So, I said that I feel it's important for us to do this as a couple. But, nope. Too bad. He also threw in the "I don't know why you are in such a rush. We have so much time." My rage wants to light him on fire then put him out with my tears of frustration.
@melarowan no. Your MIL does not need to be there.... unless you're really looking for guidance and even then I'd go with someone from this generation for advice. It already can be overwhelming enough of a process for FTMs. That's just annoying.

@melarowan no to MIL. I have a very involved MIL and sometimes you have to set boundaries. Involvement only gets more intense after the baby comes. Some things you and DH should do on your own. And +1 to @ForwardnBackward - at least take the advice of someone who has done this recently. A lot has changed and there are tons of things that have changed.

@melarowan I can just hear the "We didn't have all these things when.... " or "I can't believe how expensive things are now!" or "we didnt have that and DS is just fine!" Over and over and over again.

He says that she just really wants to go to the Costco that's nearby the Babies R Us store. But I still don't know. Heck, I don't know for sure if we're going today or not. I'll keep you posted on how this goes.
@dumbledoredies I'm 20+4 wks and I only feel him every now and then. At the AS yesterday he was moving SO MUCH I wondered why I can't feel it- but apparently my placenta is right in front so it acts like an extra barrier.

I find, too, that their kicks are so light that if I'm busy and going about my day, they're happening but I'm just not registering them.
