My cousin is in his 20's and is embarking on that journey of finding himself as people do at this age and he discovered the vegan path. He has started preaching on FB and acting holier than thou. He has never completed anything in his life and also has a privileged life because his parents are rich. I just want to bop him on the head and send him off to a third world country. I don't understand people who preach when they embark on a new way of living.
Sigh. DH went to the grocery store so I didn't have to, which I appreciate, but he got all the wrong snacks. I may not be able to trust him with such an important task again.

My DH went to the store for a few things including soup for the girls. I told him they like all kinds of soup, so he could get any kind, just not any "light" soup because for some reason they won't eat it. DDs like their sodium and calories apparently.
Aaaaaaand guess what? 4 of the 6 cans clearly say "light" at the top. Ughhhhh. You had one job!
My ob is my BF - I mentioned before that when I brought up pain management and my desires to go as unmedicated as possible she sorta scoffed and said "everyone says that."
Well I called her today to ask her if I should go to PCP to get something for this cough that's been painful since Sunday. She was surprised I wanted medicine and kinda of threw it in my face that labor would be more painful than a cough. Duh and yes I know I sound like a hypocrite but this cold was starting to worry me.
So I take my self to the clinic and they tell me it's a respiratory infection that may almost be pneumonia because my lungs sound concerning. So I get a zpack, syrup, and decongestant that are all pregnancy safe.
I just finished filling out the medical records transfer forms to leave my OB for one that's been recommended on Nextdoor. I feel liberated but scared about starting with someone new at 22 weeks.
@pizzamonster3 way to advocate for yourself! This sounds like a really good decision. Also I'm glad you got medicine and will hopefully be on your way to feeling better very soon
@PizzaMonster3 if you're not comfortable with your OB at 22 weeks, you are not going to be comfortable with her, ever. Good for you, you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your new OB - you'll start to have more frequent appointments soon anyway, so you'll be good!

Re: husbands and grocery shopping. Probably 75% of the time that I send DH with a list for a recipe, he forgets something. Last weekend, I needed 5 ingredients for a recipe. That's all he was buying. And he missed one. It happens so frequently that it's become a running joke in our family. But it drives me crazy. And he always gets so pissed when I make him go back to the store to get the missing item.

Lol @beezeemarie that has happened to my DH as well. He gets stressed when I send him to the grocery store, so I try not to do it often, although I just don't understand how hard it could be to follow a grocery list. Ask an employee if you aren't sure!
And every time he goes for me, without fail, he calls me from the grocery store with a very questionable question. "Are russet potatoes the same as baking potatoes?" "What's a white onion?" O_o
@bluejeanbabi05 see my DH does most of our shopping. Usually, it's the same basic ingredients, things for DD, etc. But when I give him a specific list for a recipe, all of a sudden he has issues. Most of the time it's not a weird item either. Like last weekend, the missing item was Parmesan cheese. He gets home and I unpack and ask, "where's the parm?" DH gets all defensive and says "you didn't put it on the list." Pull up the list of 5 things on his phone, it's definitely there. Lol. He also has issues with quantity. I always put XX oz of sauce, etc. and somehow he manages to get not enough or way too much.
October 2017 June Siggy Challenge -- "You Had One Job!"
Lol @beezeemarie. That reminds me of the other week when DH decided to make sliders for a baseball game he and his brother were going to. I found him a recipe but told him the grocery shopping and making the patties was up to him. The recipe called for 3 cloves of garlic. The man came home with 3 heads of garlic.
DH is pretty good at grocery shopping, but every now and again he doesn't notice he'll pick up the diet, sugar-free, dairy free, etc version of something. Or he'll get something similar, but not the same (e.g. buying balsamic vinegar when we need vinaigrette). I usually just remind him to make sure to pick up the usual item, especially if it's a specific treat. Dairy-free Ben and Jerry's isn't the same as the regular stuff.
@bluejeanbabi05 I dunno if you still have the garlic, but you can easily keep it in the freezer. Just peel it and store in freezer bags. MIL gives us a giant bag of garlic from time to time and that's what we do with it. Needless to say we like putting garlic in a lot of our food.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@bluejeanbabi05 my SIL made dinner one night and didn't know the difference between heads and cloves. She ended up putting like 2 or 3 heads of garlic in her dish. I'm so glad I wasn't around to smell her house from that one

There's no such thing as too much garlic! DH knows I always double (at least) the garlic in any recipe.
@jessirh Normally I would agree that there is no such thing as too much garlic.... But 3 heads is a biiiiiiig step up from doubling for 6 cloves!
@beezeemarie Did at no point she sit and think "huh, this seems like a lot of work". The thought of peeling 3 heads of garlic for one dish makes me annoyed just thinking about it! It's probably my least favorite part of using actual garlic instead of jarred.

New BF: the scheduling lady at my ob's office. Some background info for context: my ob sees patients at 2 different clinics. I'll go to either, but one is way closer to work, so I prefer that one (we'll call that clinic #1). She's only at clinic #1 on wednesdays, so I always schedule for that day and it's never been an issue. So after my appt today, I try to schedule my next appt 4 weeks out. Scheduling lady says there are no openings that day. Ok, no big, I'll just have to trek over to the other clinic. She tells me they don't have access to the other clinic's schedule, so I'll have to call. Just called the other clinic to explain and schedule with them. They laugh and tell me that clinic #1 absolutely has access to their schedule, they are on the same system. Also, there were 3 openings on the Wednesday that I needed at clinic #1. So idk what the first lady's issue was, if she was an idiot or just didn't want to help me. Not a big deal, but wtf.

@PizzaMonster3 I'm proud of you for changing OBs and getting the meds you needed!
I have the opposite problem with my DH and grocery shopping - he will get the stuff on the list, but then also get a bunch of stuff we don't need. Usually delicious treats for him. He's basically like a 5 year old at the grocery store throwing all of the sugary and salty goodness in the cart.
My BF today is about this wind! I live where it's almost always somewhat windy but we are under an advisory for 50 mph gusts. And though that's not unusual, it's supposed to be like this for the next several days. Arrrrg.
@PizzaMonster3 sounds like you made the right decision! I think you will have plenty of time to get comfortable with your new OB especially since you will probably feel more supported
Thanks @mcraig107@roo_baby I also just found out that the hospital I was going to deliver at is a training hospital for the local nursing program, and someone mentioned in their labor story that a resident kept struggling with their IV, and if they could do it again they'd request no residents. My new hospital just got upgraded 2 years ago and the maternity ward looks fancy. I'm feeling better and better about my decision.
@PizzaMonster3 I switched to a new OB and hospital at 26 weeks with my first and it was such a great decision! She's actually the reason we started trying for #3 so soon so we could have the same OB before moving away. I hope it is an amazing fit for you! Your former OB sounded like a jerk.
@PizzaMonster3 I totally read that wrong and thought you were saying that your OB was your best friend. And I couldn't figure out how you could just change docs without talking to her first if she was your bestie. It took me way too long to figure that out!
Congrats on getting a new doc though! Hopefully this one is a better fit!

BF: We are renting a house and we just moved in in March. The landlords have been kinda shitty. We still don't have a doorknob on our back mudroom door...fixed our leaky kitchen sink with a paper towel... So they are kinda sucky already
So even better, just now, the BF just called me and said we have a lot of water in the basement. He said its pooling down from the walls and by the steps. So he just called the landlord and she says, "That's kind of normal and that will happen. Are you sure its not the pipes?"
WTAF!! THAT IS NOT NORMAL, LADY. I'm pretty sure water seeping into your walls flooding the basement it not normal. And WTF about the pipes??? If its the pipes I'm pretty sure that is an issue TOO!
Newsflash landlords: this is YOUR house that YOU own that YOU are letting go to shit.
BF wants to move now and hes hoping we can get out of our lease since it may be a health hazard...And we can't have our newborn living in these conditions!
@ariz17 If you say you think you saw mold it might light a fire under their asses. Mold can be a nightmare if it's not remediated quickly -- nothing gets our property management company out to our rentals faster than mold and critters (because same thing, you don't do something about that right away and they just multiply).
Yep, @ariz17 mold was going to be my suggestion as well. If they don't take care of mold, you definitely have a right to break the lease without penalty. And if there's that much water, mold will follow.
I had big plans to go to Kohls tonight and use this Kohls cash my MIL gave me to hopefully buy some new maternity clothes since I have 2 pairs of pants and 3 freaking shirts. I was going to go by myself to get a break from the threenager and the older two who won't quit irritating her starting the second they get home. DH just called and said he's working late and then once he gets home, we have to go get his work truck from the dealership and he needs to take it back out to his shop. So basically I don't get to go shopping until Sunday unless I drag my threenager tomorrow morning, since we have plans tomorrow night and Saturday is our gender reveal party. Which I'll have nothing cute to wear for unless I suck it up and go tomorrow.
@ariz17 You should be able to break the lease if they are being that negligent. Repairs are the landlords responsibility. If it's a private rental they probably won't pursue legal action regardless. I doubt they will suddenly start fixing stuff so I would definitely find a new place.
My husband has a man-cold/allergies. He's legit not feeling well, but I also am not feeling well from cold/allergy symptoms but now I suddenly need to be the less sick one because I'm the only one who can power through. It's annoying AF.

@ariz17 From what I've read raccoons rarely just go away. You have to catch them and relocate. The animal control guy is off until Tuesday too. Uuuuuugh.

@ariz17 We found 2 mice in our garage this week. DH already got one. We will see if the other was, um, "captured" last night. They picked the wrong house to mess with!
I can't stop waking up at 5:00 am every morning!! It's before DH's alarm even goes off. And at least 3-4 hours before DD wakes up. Wtf internal alarm and/or baby boy in my body?! Lemme sleep!
