We put an offer in and are still waiting so we could potentially be moving in the next few months and I freak out just thinking of it. Mostly because I'm a control freak and everyone treats me like a fragile egg so I know they aren't going to let me help and im going to go bonkers.
We are working on packing our house up so we can get it staged and on the market by the end of the month (hopefully). Looking at houses but really want to get ours sold first so it's less complicated. Hoping to move by July-ish.
Sometimes it gets overwhelming but I have been doing a box a night on weekdays and that helps. Just a box a day adds up. On weekends we spend longer packing together. DH put a bunch of stuff in storage this weekend, but we still have more to do.
31 years young from Seattle(ish) 5 years married FTM and PGAL EDD is 12/23/17 -- It's a BOY! ---
I moved about 5 weeks ago to a new city. It's tough, but doable. The unpacking is taking forever this time, but that's to be expected with a toddler and 1st trimester fatigue/nausea.
We plan on listing our house at the end of June. Super stressed because I feel like we are on extreme deadlines now!
On on the other hand, I would much rather go through this pregnant w/o an infant versus waiting until after baby is born! GL to everyone, wishing you all sanity through this!
We moved into our house 4 weeks before my first was born. I did a lot of the organizing and packing, but didn't move any boxes once they were packed. I labeled every box with the room it needed to go into and on moving day I was basically standing at the door making sure that every box went directly to the room it needed to be in. Otherwise my brothers in law and DH's buddies definitely would have just piled them anywhere, so it actually worked out pretty well. Once everything was unloaded to the right room, I was able to unpack the boxes without any difficulty. Just make sure you do it a bit at a time and rest when you need to.
I don't know about you all but I feel like in my life all the big changes come in big crashing waves on my anxious little head lol.. Can we just have one change at a time
@Marley629 are you moving local or long distance @moonlady-2 I'll try the one box a day method it's better than my stare at my stuff and feel overwhelmed method lol @grochril yay on listing your house boo on feeling like you are in a deadline @AMCsquared that sounds exciting @jkresyman your method sounds excellent and it does make sense to do it now before LO comes.. Further more it sounds like you were super organized about your move
For all you ladies who are moving... My sil taught me this trick. Instead of taking all your hanging clothes off the hangers, folding them and rehanging them when you get to your new home just rubber band 5 or 6 hangers together and put a trash bag with a little hole in it over the top like a garment bag. Then carefully lay it into the box and do the next one. When you are unpacking just hang everything up and then come by with scissors to cut the rubber bands and bags off. This saved me so much time!
I don't know if go here haha, but we literally got pregnant the weekend we moved into our house. My house is still a mess. But I second the moving clothes in garbage bags! Label all of your boxes super specificly. Like Bedroom then do a bullet list of what's in the box so you're you're not searching for the tv remote in the bedroom linen box. Hire a mover (I wish we did). If you're building check every little thing before you sign off on final paperwork!
I'm moving in 10 days. We also moved when I was pregnant with DD. What a nightmare! My husband works the next 10 days (on purpose, so he can have a couple days off in a row when we're actually moving without using vacation time) and I'm pretty much responsible for all the packing. This is all we have boxed up so far and it's just books...
I moved when I was pregnant with my first. It was super stressful because we were selling our house and buying another so first off timing that is torture. We ended up with two days to move everything. I wanted to prep the new house first because we had some things that needed fixing but basically we had to have it all be done as we were moving in. Ugh anyways we did hire movers and I'm glad we did. I did do most of the packing but I labeled everything to which room it goes to. I just packed boxes and left them all in the room they were packed in. The movers just grabbed them and put them in the truck then knew which room to put them in once at our new house. It was stressful because then I had about two months until the baby was going to come. We got our roof reroofed right before I was going to go on disability and we barely made it because literally the day it was finished my daughter decided to come 5 weeks early. So glad we got that done because a newborn and a bunch of hammering above us would not have been good! Oh man I'm having Ptst just thinking about that time lol. This time around my hubby was thinking of trying to do it again and i said absolutely no way haha. But our experience was worse because of the selling buying aspect and the work that had to still be done on the house.
@vvitchhazel I cant believe you are 10 days away eek! Is anyone helping? @rebeccad7 that sounds really stressful @jkresyman and @ohmickey331 i love the trash bag trick but I think your method of putting them in boxes is better than mine of just piling them up in the truck and then finding a mess of clothes at the bottom of each bag with the hangers still chillin out at the top
I actually wish I was moving sooner but our house won't be finished until end of November/early December. So, needless to say, I'll be plenty stressed for the next few months just trying to get ready to move while being ready to pop.
I'm engaged and our plan was to move in together (at his place) before we have the baby. That was all fine and dandy until I got pregnant and feel as crappy and tired as I do . Then, I thought about the fact that I probably will not want to move later on either. SO says we'll hire someone to do it all (bless his heart), but I'll still have to sort and trash some things and unpack which won't be fun either. Good luck, ladies, and thanks for the tips!
@eazybreezy225 omg i hope you have help! I took in a big gulp when I read that.. I know you will get through it but wow that sounds stressful... Wishing you all the best and I'm always here to commiserate... You have made me so appreciative that I have 30 days
Not sure if this helps but I was thinking that this is probably just one in a string of overwhelming life things that you have encountered.. I'm sure you have conquered others and am assured you will conquer this

Thank you so much for these words of reassurance! I have local family that will help with my kids and the loading of the truck, and we have family where we are going to help too. So I'm very fortunate to have that. It's the actual drive out there that will get me! A whole days worth of drive time with three small kids in tow!
I am moving from Georgia to Maine in 3 weeks and I am SO overwhelmed! I haven't started to pack anything because my procrastination is in full effect. Not to mention that I'm tired all the time. I seriously don't know what to do! I'm so anxious about the baby all the time that it seems to be occupying all my time! I wish the move would come in my second trimester when I am supposed to have more energy and I will be more sure about baby.
@jackiesmom324 No help! We hired movers though. The problem is the packing. It's so hot and we already moved our air conditioner, foolishly. So now I'm hot, pregnant with a toddler, and responsible for packing our entire home on my own.
@clovelyone my friend calls that the "purge and merge"!
I kind of got to skip it when we got married because I had already just moved from SC to AZ (pre-purged), we got married and I moved to PA to be with him. He had been living with his parents, so it was pretty simple for us. Actually, we didn't settle on our house until like 2-3 weeks after we got back from our honeymoon... so we *both* lived with his parents in their 2-bed apartment for a little! Talk about getting to know your in-laws, hahaha. It worked out.

Ugh - I am dreading possibly moving. My MIL lives about an hour and half away, on my BIL's land. She was diagnosed with cancer in December, and it's becoming obvious that she needs more help and attention than she is getting from my BIL and SIL. We are thinking about moving to be closer to her, which I am already dreading.
DH and I moved from a one bedroom apartment to our 4 bedroom house in 2012. 5 years ago. We have had 5 years of time to collect stuff, and just looking around my house and attic reminds me how much purging we would have to go through. There is no physical way I could do all that with an infant, so this move better happen while I'm pregnant, or not at all.
Ugh.

I wish I was moving- we live in a one bedroom apartment with a territorial rabbit (who we love to death!) We decided to wait another year and a half to save money and get a little more time in the city before buying in the burbs. I'm ready for the suburbs though!
We are buying SO's Grandmother's house! She passed away a couple months ago and her husband is moving to Cali to live with some family over there. This will be our first house and we are so freaking excited!! The house will be vacant in 6 days. Our apartment is month to month and we haven't put in our 30 day notice yet because the loan has not quite gone through yet. It's a complicated situation because the house was left to SO's dad and aunt so we have to buy it separately from both of them. I think we will move in as soon as we can, which is in 6 days. We are no where near packed or ready to move, but that's kind of how we do things. SO drives a big delivery truck for work, so we'll just throw everything in there and go. I'm not too stressed about it.
