I have not worn a thong since first time pregnancy 3rd tri when things started to become all puffy down below and a thong just didnt provide any coverage. Like my vag was basically eating up the thong.
By the way, us Aussies also call these things thongs. My aunty was in hysterics when I (purposely) told her my husband wears big thongs and that we should buy grandpa some thongs and ask the sales assistant to help us try thongs on.
@bluejeanbabi05 commando is something I just can't wrap my head around either. So gross. I have way too many vagina juices going on for that.
@buttercream_frosting I think I told you this before, but my mom calls them thongs also and so that's what I called flip flops when I was growing up. That stopped once I knew they were a type of underwear too
When I was like 10 I went to see my aunt in Nebraska. And we were chatting and she was telling me all about how my cousin was at the airport and her thong broke. And I was like wtf why are you telling me this. Then I learned she was talking about shoes.
So last night, DH and I were watching Fifty Shades Darker and he has her take her underwear off at their table at the restaurant. Being the sexy beast I am, I immediately exclaimed to dh that that would never happen with us because I'd end up with wet spots on my clothes or running down my legs.
That, my dear friends, is the talk that gets babies made
For the record I wouldn't really go commando. But there are times lately I don't want pants on. Like today at work in my scrubs that seemed to have shrunk 3 sizes in the past week.
Totally off topic but what do you glasses/contact wearers do during pregnancy? I def will need more contacts and or a new glasses perscription but not 6 months worth of contacts. My current contact stash will almost make it.
I want to wait to get my eyes checked until after the pregnancy when things are back to normal but I also don't want to wear glasses for the last two months of my pregnancy. I probably just have to stop being a cheap ass and buy more of my current contacts?
@nbcarlson, Depends if you can feel a big difference in your vision. If it's affecting your ability to see stuff when driving I would change prescriptions and get checked again. My visiion has gone slightly fuzzy for things far away that I normally would be able to see but I'm sticking to the same prescription. I find glasses annoying and would not wear it for 2 months.
Is vision a pregnancy thing? Bc mine has been bad lately. Like not walking into things bad but I was thinking I better make an appointment soon.
Apparently yes, nerves or something swell. I don't know the specifics but something along those lines. My vision hasn't gotten way worse but my contacts make my eyes sore much quicker. I have an astigmatism and they have always done this but it's much worse feeling now.
My vision got worse and I had extremely dry eyes when I was pregnant with DD. So much so that I couldn't wear contacts, only glasses. They went back to my previous "normal" a couple months after she was born. This time, I feel like my eyes are dry but manageable. I need new glasses anyway and got a new RX very early in this pregnancy. I'll probably get glasses and new contacts just so I'm set for 3rd tri and labor.
Pretty sure I'm getting a cold! Stuffy nose, scratchy throat, etc. And I was just thinking this morning how amazing it is I've made it halfway without getting sick. Thanks universe for slapping back with this!
@nbcarlson I had to go to the eye Dr two weeks ago to get a new prescription and contacts. I actually need them to change my prescription since it isn't working out. I usually wait until a few months after delivery since my vision tends to get worse and stay that way after each baby, but it was getting pretty bad lately. If you feel like your vision is impairing daily things and driving, definitely go in and get checked. But if not, I would just wait it out until after delivery
@carries2018 I think all it can tell you is that there is at least one boy (but you won't know if two) or no boys. Super helpful!
Also, heeeeeey everyone! I've been MIA because I roadtripped out of state for my grandpa's memorial. Last (very long) leg of the drive back today, and we're swinging by San Francisco. Woo!
I change my underwear far too often. I wear thongs during the day because I don't like panty lines but when I go to bed I can't stand feeling like I have a wedgie so I switch to granny panties (what we in my household like to call full butt panties.. your welcome).
Also team white cars! My current and last car are both white. I've never understood the argument that white cars look dirty because don't all cars look dirty when they are dirty?
Vision is totally a pregnancy thing. I had Lasik done after I had DD and they made me wait 6 months after I finished breastfeeding to come in for the consultation - breastfeeding hormones will apparently also affect your vision, so keep that in mind. Sooooo if you're not sure you can last until LO gets here, if you're planning to BF, you need to take that timeline into account, too.
I know it's too late for everyone here, but I HIGHLY recommend getting it done when you can. It's completely changed my life and I've been blind as a bat since 2nd grade.

@nbcarlson good call on the contact glasses situation... I'm running out of contacts too. I don't think my vision has gotten any worse, but who knows. I'm pretty sure I need to make an appointment before I can get new contacts and I'll be peeved if my prescription changes back after.
On the undies topic.. I'm wearing a pregnancy shaper with a dress today. But I like to refer to the shaper as my "Mrs. Doubtfire pants."
maybe you guys can look into disposables or something. i dont totally know what i am talking about bc i dont wear contacts but my H got like trial ones or something for our honeymoon.
@ariz17 I have some of those, too, along with some high waisted briefs that basically go up to my boobs! I go back and forth between what type of underwear I find comfortable and right now, it's definitely full in granny panties.
My vision seems normal, except for the other day when I forgot to put my contacts in and was at the grocery store like "why are all the price tags blurry???"

So I'm going through my prime photos (I make photo books each year for us as a family and then one specifically for DD) so I can start on 2017's books. I found a screenshot of an email my mom sent juuuuuust before I found out I was pregnant:
Gotta tell you this --- last night I woke up from a dream that we were all together and you came in with a brown paper gift bag and said it was my Christmas present and you were sorry it was late. So I opened it up and there was a ceramic Santa. I was looking at it and said "oh, it's chipped on the back" and you said "that doesn't matter, look at the card." So I opened the card and it said John is due this year (as in you were having a baby). So where did that dream come from???
The email was on January 24. I found out I was pregnant on Feb. 9. Cue the eerie "my mom is a psychic" music...

Where are the moms struggling with switching their toddlers into beds at? DD was all settled in her new bed, sleeping through the night, now we are right back to her getting up and coming in our room fairly early. Before midnight. She's also been super restless lately.
@natleilynn I love that story! My mom also knew I was pregnant before I did. I had gotten yet another BFN and called her crying and she was like "you don't know anything, take another test" in this "I know something you don't know" voice and I got so mad I basically hung up on her. And then went home and took another test and it was positive. She told me later that she had smelled a distinctive smell when she was pregnant with me and then never again until that morning, and she knew it meant I was pregnant. This is also the lady who knew exactly when her grandma died even though they were states apart and she hadn't been sick ... crazy stuff!
@migdala that is so crazy!!! These mothers and their crazy intuition!
My mom had no idea we were even trying, which makes it more insane. DH wasn't working at the time and they know I am a super logical person who would never want to try without two sources of income. But we knew DH would be working in the next month or two after that and since we weren't sure how long it might take to get pregnant, thought we'd go ahead and start trying.
But there was seriously no reason for her to even be thinking about me having a baby again.

Ahhh so much catching up to do on here, so little time today!
@natleilynn That is such a cool story, and it is crazy how moms sense these things! My family knew we were trying, but I told her I wasn't testing or getting a beta done until 2/13. I decided to test 5 days after my embryo transfer on 2/7 (which is way too early), and got a faint positive. As I was still staring at the test and overanalyzing the faint line, my mom calls me and asks if I got a positive pregnancy test. I just don't understand how they can sense these things!

@mrs_fogue how old is DD? Do you have her in a toddler bed or a big bed? DD has done way better with her transition to a big bed than she did with her toddler bed. Weirdly enough, she fell out of her toddler bed constantly but *knock on wood* has yet to fall out of her full sized bed.
I mean, she's always been what I call a free spirit sleeper - she hated being swaddled and hate the sleep sacks. She was completely stretched out sleeping even as a baby. I think she just likes the ability to wallow all over her big bed and it keeps her asleep.

@natleilynn she's 2.5. We tried the toddler bed and that was a big no. So I was shocked when she took to her big bed so quickly and easily. She's been in it for about 2 months. I feel like this is a sleep regression, but I'm not certain. She's usually not real restless, once she goes to sleep she sleeps.
