Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread 5/15

  • Thank you @SpotConlon and @tova24!
I definitely have a problem with my phone and iPad. I was busy reading up on things that need to be done in the third trimester last night. lol.
Based on your tip: "not getting into bed until I'm actually tired (otherwise I toss and turn and am just pissed off)"
I didn't even try to go to bed until midnight and that worked out well! I still had a solid 7 hrs of sleep so I may take that approach moving forward!
I will be tired in the afternoon but when night rolls around I get a second wind! I should probably clean the windows with all that energy.

  • Just want to rant that I woke up in the middle of the night and was wide awake not only for a few hours, but feeling like bile was rising in my esophagus and wanted to puke. Didn't, but wanted to.
As the disclesis I take is part sleep aid I haven't normally had problems sleeping, but last night really sucked.
So far I'm powering through the workday but ugh. Third trimester nausea return is real over here.

  • Not that I'm happy everyone seems miserable too but my last two pregnancies I felt MUCH better at this point.

I'm getting sick again almost every night, the heartburn is real, hemroids, constipation, gas, I feel like crap most nights. It's going to be a long last few months.

For all those saying they are itchy (I think most of you are talking about belly itch) but my friend had Cholestasis. I didn't know how serious it was but she had to be induced both times at like 37 weeks because of it. Usually shows up in third trimester and I think she said her feet and hands were itchy....so NOT belly stretching skin itch. Anyway I never heard of it before but thought I would mention it here just in case. Blood test at your Dr can figure it out.
  • Everything everyone has said. I am right there with you. The sleep deprivation is the worst. I feel like if I could just sleep, I could deal emotionally with everything else. My husband and mom have no sympathy; they both just said, "wait til the baby gets here." Nice, real nice. I have to go to work and pretend to be able to think. I can see why women don't work for weeks before they deliver if they can afford it. I can't, so I will likely be working when I am in labor. Haha.
  • Ho-ly shit. Literally. I had constipation/really hard and painful bms for a few days then yesterday I had diarrhea in the morning out of nowhere right after waking up with a terrible gas cramp. Then, again in the afternoon about 1 hour afternoon lunch I had crazy diarrhea again. I was traveling with a colleague!!!! Had to stop at our states welcome center to use the restroom, talk about embarrassing! Today we had to go to a baseball game and again, right after eating my stomach turned and I had horrible diarrhea at the stinking ball park! I so hope this goes away quickly!!!!

I've been having incredible tired feeling and achey legs over the last few days. Luckily no swelling at this point but I swear my legs feel like either like I ran a few miles or like I have the body aches associated with the flu. It's really annoying.
I second checking out drug stores or medical supply stores for compression stockings. TED hose is great and is what we put on patients in the hospital after surgery or for edema.

  • Has anybody experienced extreme pelvic pain?   I'm a stm and didn't have this last time.   It's worse when I'm opening my legs.    I stretch a lot and get a ton of exercise, so I'm wondering if this is normal or I have pulled a muscle.
  • OTmom3OTmom3 member
@JDBtwinmama I get bad hip pain due to SI joint issues (worsened with pregnancy) and just wrote above about aching legs which is likely related. I would recommend you try to see a PT, especially a women's health PT, for your pelvic pain. They can do manual therapy, give you exercises to help, and probably recommend a support belt.

  • Thanks @OTmom3 I was going to ask my doc next week but I don't know if I can wait that long!

YES. Exactly this. I'm also STM and never had it with my first. My doctor dismissed it right away saying all the joints and muscles were preparing down there. But I'm in a lot of pain mostly when going from standing to sitting and vice versa...it feels like someone is stabbing my groin. Awful! I too get a LOT of exercise/walking at work. But I'm not as good about stretching.
  • @belmont1785 it can be excruciating.    And they told me it was round ligament pain.    I had twins last time and this does it feel like that!

+1 for the pelvic pain as a STM. I was told it was normal, and had an ultrasound to confirm everything was okay.

Holy cow is this baby sitting low.   I feel like he/she is going to fall out at any given time.  I requested an internal check last week and the baby kicked the doctors hand while it was up there!  I just want baby kicks above the belly button area, instead of down in my bladder and pelvis!

  • Knottie96400174 I can totally relate. I go back and forth between constipation and diarrhea seemingly out of the blue. The only thing I can think of is it's related to something I ate? Still haven't been able to figure it out though.

kristenk727 My baby is sitting really low as well. I have constant pressure on my bladder it seems but when I mentioned it to my OB, she didn't seem to be concerned. It is annoying though and I would love it if we would start to move upwards, or at least kick in the opposite direction of my bladder! Hang in there!
  • Ugh my hands are swelling like crazy with this heat.  I need to take my rings off, but I cant.  Im trying to drink a lot more water, but I am not very good at doing that (I really hate plain water), but the fact that I cant get them off at all is concerning! I also think I might be developing carpal tunnel in my hands, and Im not sure what to do about that.  I have an OB appointment next week, and at this point I can wait to go in then and ask, however, Im concerned becuase I work all day at a computer where I type, so I dont know what I would do if I cant type.  ugh.

  • Does anyone else have an almost burning sensation in their upper belly? It's right under my boobs where the bump starts. And mostly on the left side. Definitely one that ask the doctor, but was wondering if anyone else experienced this?
  • @mrsw2017 not sure if this is what you are feeling or not, but about a week ago, I had insane cramps, that were all through my belly, and it was almost burning at the top. I was driving to work when I felt them, and I actually started to cry thinking that something might be wrong.  It turned out it was really awful gas, and once it passed, I was fine.  I still called my OB and she said that it sounded like what I thought.  I relieved it by going into a room and literally laying on the floor on my left side.

  • gas pains...holy cow! i ended up going to the Dr. a few weeks ago for the same pain and all they told me was that i was constipated. if i call and they want me to come in today, it'll probably be the same deal.
  • @littlebug2010 it's not really a cramping feeling. It's so hard to describe. I almost can't tell if it's a skin issue or a muscle issue.
  • @mrsw2017 I think I get what you are saying. It's like a burning nerve pain right at surface of skin. I've only had it a couple times so far. I just relate it to my skin stretching.
  • @mrsw2017I had that about two or three weeks ago. It was horrible burning type pain that came on in about a 4" patch right under my right breast/ by the top of my ribs. I mentioned it to my midwife and she told me that it was likely muscular and related to my growing belly. The only thing that helped me relieve it was holding my right arm above my head and trying to stretch it out. Thankfully it seems to have resolved itself after about a week.

  • @brookedeyo yes, that's a very good way to explain it!

@Mango517 thanks for the tip. I just tried stretching it out at my desk. I am have looked like a weirdo but it did relieve most of it for the time being.

@belmont1785 I have to take a good minute before I start moving after standing because it feels like my pelvis is frozen. It helps me to do hip circles before I try to walk.
  • So I got waxed a few weeks ago and last week I started feeling itchy and like I had an ingrown hair in the crease of my leg right at the panty line. I've been putting Neosporin and diaper rash cream on it, but it itches like mad. I can't see it so I had DH look and take a picture tonight and it's all bumpy and flaky. I'm freaking out and sitting at urgent care scared to death the place gave me a disease or something. Most likely just a burn, but I'm scared.
  • @SouthernMama15 I would just give it time to heal. I don't wax, I shave, but my ingrown hairs are significantly worse during pregnancy. They get hard lumps like quarter sized underneath. I've cut back on hair removal bc of this. But they always go away. I would not use diaper rash cream, that will further irritate it
  • It's an external yeast infection. So gross. Waiting on my prescription

    Morning, insomnia buddy!

It's 5am on the east coast and I've been up for 45 minutes.  Having DS's 2nd birthday party this morning, and a wedding to go to tonight, so I know I'll regret this later.   Blah.  Baby is kicking away in there.... hope it isn't an indication of 5am parties once he/she arrives!

  • Y'all, as soon as I put the cream on it, it was instant relief. They actually gave me 2 prescriptions and of course the pharmacy had to order one,  so I'll have to go back. She said that the Neosporin probably aggravated it worse and that about 20% of people are allergic and don't know because it doesn't present like typical reactions.
  • @SouthernMama15 Im glad the cream is working for you!

@smallbutmighty77 and @kristenk727 I should have checked the bump this morning/evening!  I had awful heartburn and was "sleeping" sitting up most of the night!  I think I slept like 3 hours total.  I have a concert with DHs college acapella group to go to tonight, and we usually go to the alumni after party . . .

  • Ok, third trimester's already freaking me out a bit. I had so much left-side pain yesterday that I did indeed call a nurse at my doctors' office. She ruled out pre-term labor, said with the sudden hot weather a lot of people had called with abdomen pain from dehydration. Said it could be dehydration or I pulled a muscle or my uterus is just stretching and that's the side that happens to hurt. I was just so uncomfortable yesterday, right up until going to bed. The only comfort was feeling the baby; figure if she's bumping around in there then she's still fine.
Today, so far so good. I'm just irritated/freaked that this level of discomfort is perfectly normal.

  • HAHAHAHAHA @DeansGirl14  That was my life while DH was singing.  We didnt go to the same school, and so when I visited, I just followed him and the group around.  We are all really good friends now, and I love that group! This year was a baby boom year for the alumni too.  3 babies so far, and two more (including mine) on the way!  I am looking forward to the concert tonight, but I will be so tired!

In other news, I Think the swelling in my hands is going down.  I am really hoping that it will continue to go down, and that I can get my rings off! I would also love to not have sausage fingers anymore!

  • Baby has been on the move like crazy this weekend!! rolling and kicking...I can feel where her head is bc it's so hard when she pushes against me. Just this weekend I've felt so much more.
