I selfishly started this thread because I'm awake, and it's not MOTN anymore lol Im going to sterilize my bottles, and pump stuff but I couldn't find a consensus on how long to boil the parts for. I know we talked about this before in another thread but I'm not sure where it is. Any advice?
Today after nap (~3) we are headed to MIL to see everyone. Both BILs got into town last night so they will get to meet their new nephew. I'm a tad worried that MIL is mad at us because she hasn't seen the baby since Sunday when we got home from the hospital. But she didn't ask to come over because we would have said anytime. It's been a fairly chill week. I have a feeling she thinks we should have invited her. We shall see.
Tomorrow after nap we are going to my mom's house for cook out with that side of the family. Sadly my brother won't be there because of work, but he was able to come to town Thurs-today (he lives in Cincinnati) so he got to meet his nephew.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day whether you have an outside baby now or not.
Thanks for asking about sterilizing pump parts, @Jens_Hoes, mine have been sitting in the kitchen for a week just waiting until I got around to googling instructions. I'll probably take care of that today.
I don't have concrete plans for the weekend, but I think my MIL is coming over at some point. I need to find a happy place in my mind so she doesn't annoy me to death. She's been reminding me on a daily basis since Weds that I'm overdue and seems to think that I, like her while she was pregnant, shouldn't be driving or going anywhere alone. (I'm totally fine with both driving and being alone, btw. Not a delicate flower.) She's not the chillest of people, and can be annoying when she's excited. And she's very, very excited about her soon-to-be granddaughter. It's all she talks about.
Sleep. That's what I'm hoping to do today. Just can't seem to sleep well anymore. On top of the normal pregnancy related non sleep, there was a helicopter flying around our apartment/surrounding area in the middle of the night for like ever. No clue why and can't find anything about it. So that was fun. Needless to say I'm in a crappy mood this morning. Good thing it's just me and Stella today. Sleep and catching up on shows. I have a little laundry for baby but it's so small I hate to do it lol
My mom is trying to make reservations at a restaurant on the water for Mother's Day. Should be nice she seems to think if we have plans that maybe baby will ruin them and I'll go into labor! I suppose that's be a nice Mother's day gift
Happ Mother's Day, ladies!

My MIL's birthday also falls on Mother's Day this year, so we're having H's parents over tomorrow and grilling out. I hope they don't stay too long, though. I'm just not in the mood for 20-baby questions.
I've also been very crampy since last night, which gets my hopes up. But, I doubt it means imminent labor.
I cut up a fresh pineapple yesterday and started eating it. I got about 15 pieces into it before I said "F this, it's too sweet!"
My mom got me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage for Mother's Day. I got the massage on Thursday and it was really nice! I told H yesterday that I was thinking about getting a pedicure this weekend. He told me he got me a gift certificate for a pedicure for Mother's Day so I get to get pampered again H and I will spend some time with our moms tomorrow, but not sure what we'll be doing. When I was at Walmart yesterday, a worker handed me a little card that said "Happy Mother's Day!" on it. Even though my baby most likely won't be coming for a couple weeks yet, it was nice to get recognized.
@Jens_Hoes We did all of our parts and bottles for 5 minutes, per several manufacturer's instructions. @Louise_Belcher Don't worry about your MIL. You are totally not obligated to invite people over after a newborn! I'm sure Emily Post would agree. I hope you have a great weekend! @cclaineDC I hope your day goes well with your MIL! @BabyMC517 Oh the sleep! Where is DH? I hope you get to relax with Stella today!
DH was supposed to walk for graduation today (MBA) but he didn't want to and I lost steam fighting him on it for months. (It's almost 2 hours away, just him and I would go, and it was an online program, but it's his second masters and he's never walked for any graduation!) I feel guilty because I feel like he should walk and I should have kept pushing, but oh well. I made him promise we'd celebrate some other way, so we'll see.
@jayandaplus H works on Saturdays congrats to your H! Such an accomplishment! Bummer he won't walk but hopefully you'll find another way to celebrate It is a little weird walking for your second masters (I did) but since he hasn't walked for any he really should have that experience. But you can't force them, right?
"A day without laughter is a day wasted." ~Charlie Chaplin
Sounds like some nice plans this weekend!! @Jens_Hoes thanks for the reminder bc I need to get mine sterilized as well. Maybe Monday....? Today were just picking up and H has some yard work to do (OBVIOUSLY the most important thing...). I'd like to put together a couple baby items like our stroller and pack n play but we'll see. My BFF and I are going to get pedicures this afternoon to treat ourselves for Mother's Day. Then MIL sand SFIL are coming up this evening. I adore them but I'm not really looking forward to entertaining tonight. Plus the 10000 baby questions and talking about it all night.
Tomorrow is my NP school graduation/hooding and then Mothers Day dinner with my parents and MIL/SFIL. It's my last big scheduled event before baby can arrive so starting Monday is all the pineapple, walking, and RRL tea I can handle to encourage a natural arrival. Nothing too crazy since I'll be 38 Weeks but it can't hurt to get her thinking about it right??
40 weeks today! Good to know about the pump parts... I've got bottles cleaned, but haven't got to the pump yet. Speaking of pumps, anyone know about deals on pumps? My insurance doesn't cover the cost, but I was hoping to get a chargeable one that would be easier to use on the go and around the house too. Happy Mothers Day weekend girls!

Someone said Spectra was on Groupon this week...? Not sure what the deal was or if it's still active.
@Louise_Belcher Don't worry about your MIL. You are totally not obligated to invite people over after a newborn! I'm sure Emily Post would agree. I hope you have a great weekend!
+1 to this! My life post-newborn has consisted of not giving a &$@# what anyone wants of me because I'm too busy keeping a little person fed to worry about grown adults' expectations.

We're going to a mother's day cookout with my family tomorrow. Our close friends are visiting from Pittsburgh this evening and are going to come over to see our new house and baby, so that's exciting. I'm trying to get myself in a better mood after my rough night. Like I mentioned in the MOTN thread, DS's feeding schedule is thrown off because I slept too long. He didn't want to eat at 8:30 this morning, so hopefully he can hold on until 11:30 so we can get back on track. I had some exhaustion tears earlier, so DH is taking baby duty and letting me try to sleep... I'm heading back to bed now.

Today for me is regular cleaning like laundry and vacuuming. I also need to pack the hospital bag and sterilize stuff and I think that makes me 100 percent ready for this baby. So weird.
Tomorrow I told my husband that I want to go to breakfast at our local diner and he gave me a stink eye initially, but I consider myself a mother so I'm starting a tradition. He will go to his grandmothers to do yard work, it's a tradition for his family, while I rest and then we'll do dinner at his mother's with my mother as well.
A local store here is doing a free flower/paint a pot thing for kids for Mother's Day so we are planning on taking DD. Tonight we are doing dinner with FIL for his birthday. Tomorrow I don't know yet. DH asked what I wanted to do but I'm not sure. For sure we have church in the AM and LO is getting dedicated a long with a few other babies and then hopefully a nap after!
DS is one week old today and I'm all kinds of emotional about how quickly he's growing. Today, we will probably go shopping. We all need clothes for newborn photos on Monday. Tomorrow, we may go out to eat and then I want to be lazy. My parents just left and I feel like I haven't spent a ton of time resting and recovering from birth or watching my tv shows that are building up on my DVR. I'm sad that my parents aren't here taking care of us and slightly paranoid to parent both kids on our own. On the other hand, my mom was getting on my nerves and I'm excited to get DD back to her normal routine.
Congratulations on your graduation, @ShadeofGreen816! And same to your husband, @jayandaplus! @Jens_Hoes You totally deserve a Mother's Day breakfast with ZERO stink eye! I hope you enjoy it @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot I hope the transition from having your parents around goes smoothly. Hopefully re-setting DD's routine and diving into your DVR queue will help! @BabyMC517 I'm sorry that stupid helicopter woke you up. Actually, this reminded me that I woke up from a dream this morning where a helicopter was circling overhead, looking for an escaped convict! Weird! I hope that wasn't real life creeping into my dreams, haha. [Goes and makes sure the front door is locked...] Finally, this thread has inspired me to sterilize bottle/pump parts AND get a pedicure!
This is our last weekend pre-baby--so hard to believe! I passed a big milestone in my dissertation yesterday so I'm feeling very relieved. I still have a long way to go and a ton of work to do between now and December, but it was nice to cross that off my list and a December graduation is looking more feasible (which is good because I start my new job in January). I'm so glad I didn't go into labor before/during the big meeting!
We still have so much to do around our apartment, including buying and assembling a dresser, putting up some new shelving, assembling the glider and swing we just got, installing the car seat, putting some finishing touches on the hospital bag, getting some furniture out to my aunt's house for storage, general cleaning and organizing...can I just go back to bed?! And of course I told H that after I passed that milestone, we could try ALL methods of trying to get this baby here naturally before Wednesday's induction...so hopefully he can stay focused on this to-do list He's at a "New Daddy Boot Camp" right now which is super cute!
Happy Mother's Day to all you ladies!! We don't have any Mother's Day plans but I did make DH take me to IHOP today. It has been one of my pregnancy cravings the whole time but we had to take a break from it due to calories and he is so tired of it. Lol. But I am supposed to work next weekend so it's possible this will be our last weekend to just do whatever.
@Louise_Belcher I wouldn't worry if MIL secretly wanted an invite over this week. You can't read people's minds and are in no way obligated to invite anyone over. If she wanted to come over she should have invited herself to come over and help you out!!!
good luck to everyone who is trying to get baby prep done!
Today we are celebrating Mother's Day with my IL's because I refuse to see MH's grandma on "my day". She is a headache and I just don't want to deal with her. We also have a birthday party for one of DD's little friend's and then a much needed trip to Hobby Lobby. Tomorrow we are going on a 3-mile walk with my mom and to visit my grandma. In the afternoon it will just be the three of us celebrating Mother's Day/our possible last adventure before baby!
Hope you got some rest @kns1988! You totally deserve a Mother's Day celebration @Jens_Hoes! You are a mother already. @NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot Congrats on 1 week old! I have no doubt you and DH will do awesome with two kiddos. I hope it all goes well this weekend. @L1C4gal Yay for dissertation milestones! I hope you get all of your to-do list done, and enjoy it. @achays11 A 3 mile walk seems ambitious! Good luck!
I hope everyone enjoys their Mother's Day plans! Happy Mother's day to my favorite mamas!
@Jens_Hoes no stinkeye necessary. You are definitely already a mother. I will also be steralizing today although I'm really hoping I'll go into labor instead.
Today I'm going to bring my dog for a long walk and do other random errands.
My parents are an hour an a half away so they'll be coming up tomorrow to celebrate mother's day. We're going to get lunch at a restaurant on the water by my house. In-laws are 2 hours away so we won't see them which I'm secretly happy about because theres been a lot of unnecessary drama with them these past few weeks.
@L1C4gal Congratulations on your dissertation...that's a huge accomplishment!
Hopefully laying low this weekend. I had my first contractions last night! Nothing now of course, but that's okay since I'm only 38+5. Still exciting though! I'm going to take an early nap. Happy Mother's Day to all!
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot: My parents just left today after 4 weeks being here! (It was 2 weeks of bedrest, 1 week of birth/hospital/grandparent toddler wrangling, and this past week of hubbs back to work & me still recovering.) It'll be odd to have them gone, as well as nice. It'll be weird to parent on our own, like you said, but I feel ready to jump in. It has to happen sooner or later, right?
@jayandaplus we did the 3-mile walk last night and I was very sore when we got home, but it felt good. I'm hoping to do it a few more times this week, of course with company in case labor happens on the far side of my walk away from the car.
Late to this weekend party, happy Mother's Day!! I sincerely apologize for not responding/tagging...autocorrect is killing me. "Not" just corrected to "MOTN" and "just" corrected to "Justin"...WTF. So, speaking like a caveman...
My Mother's Day plans=mani/pedi today, dropping horrendous MIL at airport tomorrow, drinking many Manhattans and snuggling my baby!
Happy Mother's Day ladies! I spent the majority of last night awake, trying to figure out if I was having early contractions. I'm still not positive, but whatever they were, they stopped. Now I feel like a zombie and want to punch my H for saying he didn't sleep well either.
@starphish18 - solidarity on the punching. H and I decided last night that he'd sleep upstairs in the guest room and take point on all toddler related morning activities so I could sleep in and rest. Apparently H took the as an excuse to play video games until 1 am, and DS woke up at 530. If he says one more time that he's exhausted after I handled all of the MOTN responsibilites while he acted like a 12 year old, we're going to be making an ER run today.
@starphish18 I'm with you on the fakeout contractions AND the h punching. MIL/SFIL were up last night. We had a great time playing cards and hanging out but MH and SFIL were "celebrating" SFIL's birthday and got pretty drunk. Irritating. Then, maybe it was because I was paranoid with a drunk H, but I was having lots of BH and back pain and I was like Shit.... is this the real thing? Turned out not to be (I guess!)but too little sleep happening over here. And no nap time in sight today. Hope you get some rest!
H and I went to Target yesterday when he was pretty buzzed (he doesn't drink much so two beers at lunch did him in, haha). The outing took a bit longer than it might have otherwise, but he was in such a good mood that he thought all of my decisions about household items were fantastic ones (that NEVER happens at Target) and I ended up walking out with a new dresser, curtains/rod, garbage can, and a few other things without any pushback or tiring debates. Success!
I almost convinced him that we should get new iPhones (which we do actually need) when we stopped by the Sprint store, but I guess he was sobering up by then
Happy Mother's Day everyone! Went to breakfast this morning at my favorite breakfast spot with H. Now just tying to kill time until I have to go to the hospital tonight as I am getting induced because Peanut has decided to be stubborn.
Happy Mother's Day all! +1 for not sleeping due to fakeout contractions all night! But this morning I "woke up" to hearing DH cleaning his bathroom so that's a plus!
