Tagging in this week since I have a sleepy baby today and have time! I hope everyone is planning a treat because it's MOTHER'S DAY this weekend! I'm not a huge fan of these "made-up" holidays but I can't deny I am excited to be among those accepting a "Happy Mother's Day" this year.

Re: Fit Mama check-in: May 8
1: How many weeks postpartum? 8 weeks
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Exercise at least 3x this week and to start introducing more cardio
3: How was last week? Last week was ok. Went to the gym once, jogged once, then hiked this weekend. Eating wise I could have done a LOT better
4: share a Non-scale victory? This is a non exercise victory, but Cían has started sleeping in 6h straight at night. Getting that extra time is giving me so much more energy during the day for exercise and cooking
5: How are/have you treated your self this week?? We went on a weekend trip away for our anniversary this past weekend. It was a blast!!
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Started mom and baby Pilates today. Although I found the class helpful, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be. I really need to start getting in better shape. I've been feeling so weak in the gym.
7: GTKY: What's been your favorite moment so far with your SO and LO? I've really enjoyed watching LO and DH together in general. It's brought out a whole other side of DH I've never seen. No one instance in particular. Although, DH is really good at putting LO to sleep. He likes to call himself the baby whisperer
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Get in as many walks as the weather will allow with Oscar, and if I can't get outside start doing some gentle strength movements like slow shallow squats and light dumbell moves to wake up my muscles! Going to head out this afternoon after his 1p feeding for 2-3 brisk miles.
3: How was last week? Pretty good. Got my eating in check. Had ZERO sugar which I'm really proud of! Cut way back on carbs too, and planned ahead to have healthy options to grab.
4: share a Non-scale victory? not much this week but finally getting the hang of taking Oscar places with us and not forgetting anything critical (like wipes... forgot those a few times)
5: How are/have you treated your self this week?? We are going out to dinner Wednesday night and MIL is watching Oscar, can't wait!
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Really can't wait to see OB on Thursday to check my incision and talk about a plan moving forward for recovery and getting back to exercise. I feel so much better lately, buy really concerned about not having feeling above my incision and the fact that it still feels like a hard pregnant belly and protrudes a lot. There is discomfort when I press it so I hope nothing is wrong.
7: GTKY: What's been your favorite moment so far with your SO and LO? Haha, @npaulie my DH calls himself the baby whisperer too! He can burp him really well and I can't seem to get a good one out of him sometimes.
There are so many moments but my favorite has to be last night when I was falling alseep in the bedroom, DH was giving Oscar a bottle and I could overhear him talking to him, he was saying such sweet things to him and explaining why he had to sit up after his bottle and not lie down yet so he wouldn't spit up... it was just so gentle and sweet. I knew DH thought I was sleeping and couldn't hear him and that made it even sweeter to overhear them having a moment.
edit: the bump ate my post. Will have to repost later
1: How many weeks Post-Partum?
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? Goals are to do my at-home CrossFit 5x as well as an extra Cardio session 4x and an extra weigh-lifting session 2x. Daily goals look like this:
3: How was last week?
4: share a Non-scale victory? Completely cleaned out our Fridge & Freezer and went food shopping for healthy food last night. (It had been awhile!!)
5: How are/have you treated your self this week?? Got my lashes done this morning (and am going to work out today and tomorrow anyways, LOL!) and this week Hubs and are I going to buy a DB set and weight bench!
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Evie will be 2mo next week and I still haven't started pumping or storing milk. I'm having a mental block with doing that. I really really don't want to.... we have such a great nursing rhythm... don't want to mess that up. But Hubby and I are planning a date night this weekend, which means I need to have milk in the fridge for my my Mom to feed her, and I go back to work in 7 weeks... so I need to start at some point
7: GTKY: What's been your favorite moment so far with your SO and LO?
@jenny0228 way to rock it with the no sugar!! Impressive!!
@triwellnessgirl Don't feel obligated to do the nursing thing in any way that others do-figure out what's right for you! You can
1: How many weeks postpartum? 9, right? I'm loosing track. Haha.
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? 4 evening quick runs, 3 short afternoon nap workout videos. Still trying to get on the 100% clean eating wagon again! The struggle is so real!
3: How was last week? So/so got a few afternoon video workouts and a few runs. Making some healthy choices and some cheats/but overall pretty good for a new stressed out mom of two!
4: share a Non-scale victory? I hid my scale away for goodand took some body measurements instead to start tracking last week. I don't want the scale to rule my fitness and hiding it was the biggest victory I can think of!
5: How are/have you treated your self this week?? Ummm.... this one is hard lately. I think right now with the busyness of two under two my biggest treats are usually basic necessities-like showering. Hah. But honestly Going for a run/walk at night is the best part of my day and seems like the treat.
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Wednesday is myvertigo specialist appointment! So excited but also so anxious! I'm terrified of not getting answers or being told I'm just going insane.
7: GTKY: What's been your favorite moment so far with your SO and LO? I think when we lay in bed with her in between us and just stare at her and eachother and have those cliché conversations saying things like "wow, we made this" or "look how far we've come" "can you believe we have two kids now!?"
@triwellnessgirl you are right back up and going full force with your fitness! Amazing job working out so consistently - you are definitely an inspiration!
@kjd291 good luck tomorrow at your specialist appointment - I hope you get some answers. You're definitely NOT going insane. I cannot imagine dealing with vertigo for that long - you are a trooper lady! Keep us posted, I'll be sending you good thoughts tomorrow that it all goes well!
Just registered for my first race of the year - 7.1 miles in mid August. It's my favorite race to run, so scenic and it's local! https://www.falmouthroadrace.com/
@kjd291 so glad you only have to wait one more day to see the specialist!! Praying it goes well & you get solid answers and help!! I need to do what you did with my scale too and realize it's so much more about being healthy than that silly number!
@jenny0228 I PM'd you back this morning about the running workouts since I couldn't find the link, I think I may have missed it? and WAY TO GO on the zero sugar - that's huge!!! Hope you enjoy your dinner date tomorrow night!!
@npaulie so happy to hear your little guy is starting to sttn for you - that's awesome!! and Congrats on your anniversary!! Glad you had a great weekend away to celebrate!
@triwellnessgirl wow lady!! You are KILLING IT with the workouts!! Love that you have a home gym and are expanding it, such a great thing to have! I'm also jealous of your long maternity leave!
1: How many weeks postpartum? Will be 5 weeks on Thursday
2: What are your goals for the week ahead? hmm...do a short easy youtube workout each day, walk at least 1 mi/day, try to be more mindful of what I'm eating, and not step on my scale again the rest of the week.
3: How was last week? Good overall, I've been able to fit in that quick workout I shared on here last week each day as LO has napped. I LOVE that Bodyfit by Amy channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/BodyFitByAmy) and can't wait to try out her Mommy & Me and more intense workouts once I'm officially cleared next week. I feel almost guilty for doing that little workout & doing 0.5 mile jogs sometimes when I "walk" my dog, having not been "cleared" yet but I feel like since I feel physically well enough to that I should just trust my gut and do what feels right while still not pushing it. Same way with the sex...DH & I had sex (unintentionally, we planned to wait till at least 6 weeks but then things progressed and I can't say I regret it) when I hit 4 weeks and it wasn't painful or awkward at all surprisingly, so we might try it again at least once more before my official clearance haha
4: share a Non-scale victory? I need to commit to not weighing myself more than once a week - or longer/ever... especially given my past when I spent the bulk of my teens/twenties letting the scale consume my life basically...I don't want to fall back into that unhealthy mindset. I've been weighing myself about every other day and some days the number goes in a backwards direction than what it "should" be, and I feel defeated in that moment and start thinking about restricting my eating or looking at calories in/out - which I can't do and don't want to do. So recognizing that I need to just be looking beyond the scale and putting it away for at least a while is my literal non-scale victory this week.
5: How are/have you treated your self this week?? I finished grad school last week!! Just being done feels amazing and is seriously the best treat! I feel like all the things over the years I've told myself to put off doing until I'm done (watching thing on Netflix/reading certain books/painting/coloring/spending time on Pinterest/etc etc etc) I can finally do without feeling guilty or feeling like I'm wasting time that I should be spending on school...it's great to feel like I can actually relax now (even though in reality I can't because well, I have a newborn to care for haha)
6: Questions, Concerns, Rants, Raves, Randoms? Do any of you plan to run with your dog and your baby at the same time? I walk mine around our neighborhood with the stroller & a normal leash, my dog is generally very good and wants to be right next to the stroller and goes at a good slow pace...but I used to run with my dog 5+ miles and would love to be able to take LO with us on our runs again once I start getting back to that long of a distance... I just am not sure the best way to juggle the stroller with the leash & wondering if there are any best methods you ladies know of?
7: GTKY: What's been your favorite moment so far with your SO and LO? hmm I don't think I have a favorite moment but I did like watching DH give LO his last bath (DH's first time) and seeing DH shift from being scared to more confident by the end of it.
1: How many weeks postpartum? 12 weeks 2 days
Edit: omg it did it again!!!
long story short as I am not re-typing everything:
not a good week last week in terms of eating or working out. Goal is to get back on track this week - 3 workouts and tracking my food. I had 2 bday parties for DS1 on Saturday and had a 31 party on Thursday ( MIL sells 31) so it was a busy week. I go back to work Friday. I am not ready to leave Tyler and not ready to not be getting my big guy off the bus from school. I may treat myself to a new outfit for work this week. I can't believe Tyler is 3 months old this Friday!!!! Born 2/12
@serenity13 don't feel jealous-i had to think for a while to share anything cute ;} I'm sure we all have many bad marita/newborn moments to share too. Hah. most of the time DH is around honestly isn't too fun. We had the same problem with our first go-around. "We" as a team just don't rock the newborn stage, promise it gets 100times better as they get more comfortable helping and as baby becomes less dependent on you.
Definitely get rid of that scale. Same issue as you in the past and stepping on it and seeing backwards numbers is the last thing I need ruining my mindset for the whole day. I'm very glad I did!
I personally don't run with my babes. It's my "me time" so i rarely try.
@jenny0228 that 7.1 looks so awesome! Maybe one day I'll drive down to the cape and try it out
@kjd291 good luck with your appointment and let us know how it goes! I hope they finally figure something out!
@korpisar ugh I hate when the bump does that. Can't believe Tyler is 3mo!!! When do you have to go back to work?
@serenity13 you know your body best, if you're feeling fine for exercise and sex I say go for it!!
@jenny0228 so exciting signing up for the race!! I need to find a goal like that to work towards to keep me motivated.
@triwellnessgirl I had a similar issue before I started BFing. Hope you figure out something that works for you!!
2. Goals: Walk at least 10 miles. I'm not off to a strong start this week so far. I did nothing yesterday & have 2 appointments for Sloane so no long walk likely. Also, get to get in at least 1 Peloton ride & throw in some body weight resistance exercises here and there throughout the day. Also, some meal prep!
3. Last week: Meh. I got in about 5 miles of walking which was more than the week before but not nearly enough. Never got on the Peloton (I'm struggling getting S on a schedule & to nap not on me) but I did do some quick resistance moves throughout the day here and there. I am soooo weak and flabby but trying not to be discouraged. I'm back to BFP weight but my body composition has obviously changed. I had gained about 15lbs from emotional eating after losses and the 6 rounds of clomid I did before the last BFP. I'm dying to get that weight off too.
4. Non-scale victory: I have gone out a few times this past week with S all by myself & we survived. Definitely helping build my Mommy confidence!
5. Treating myself: I'm getting my hair done on Thursday! My sparkles need to be gone!! It's been 8 weeks since my last color.
6. My poor baby has torticollis & flat a spot on the one side from her wonky position in my ute. She has PT twice a week. Her first real session was yesterday & she did really well. Her appointments will force me out of the house more which is good too!
7. DH is pretty attentive to her. If I am in the middle od
something and she starts to cry & I don't get to her fast enough he will swoop in and try to calm her. He thinks he is a daddy whisperer until he can't get her calm & then he hands her off to me with a quickness hehe. He loves her. it melts my heart when I hear him tell her.

@serenity13 sorry to miss the link, haha I always do that! I PM'd you back with the link to the workouts! Hope you like them. And great job on the workouts!! I haven't tried walking my dog with LO in the stroller. She is got great at listening when she's on the leash though, so because of that I probably wouldn't chance her getting her leash wrapped around the stroller and tipping it or something. Maybe overly cautious but she can go bananas if she sees a little white dog (she hates little white dogs, idk why- she's terribly rude!)
@kjd291 Falmouth is SUCH a fun race! Totally worth a road trip to the Cape!
@MrsBinPA great job getting back to your BFP weight! I got pregnant with some extra lbs on me too, from not being able to workout for 6 weeks at a time while I was taking IVF drugs before egg retrievals. Hoping to shed my baby weight and then some.
So I got a Fitbit, and just walking LO around the house today I've walked almost 2mi! And I have a really small house! He's so fussy yesterday and today, hating napping. Just can't get him to fall asleep for more than 15 or 30min intervals today. And he won't calm down in the carriers. MIL was going to watch him while we went out for dinner but had to cancel unless he becomes magically soothed in the next few hours. I walked almost 4mi yesterday and felt great so I was going at a pretty good clip with the stroller. Now today, bright red blood. UGH. Curious what I will learn at appt tomorrow or if my OB will tell me I'm overdoing it. Fairly certain she will because why else would I still be bleeding at 6 weeks. I need to get back to working out... my mental state is really suffering. I mean, it's hard with a newborn but I feel WAY more stressed than I think I would be if I could just empty the tank once in a while.
Like... dude! I didn't come to an ENT specialist for you to do the same exact thing my primary care did and dismiss my symptoms.
He said there is a really really rare syndrome called mal debarqument where people feel the sensation of rocking for extended periods of time -(after being on a cruise ship,
so not sure how that relates to childbirth) and so it could, maybe, possibly, be that, if it's that it'll go away in months-year with really bad episodes.
i started crying and, when he said nothing except to look awkwardly at me weeping, said that it's been a really long two months taking care of my two kids.
He responded with, "yes, there's a saying one kid is one kid and adjusting to two feels like ten" and walked out the door. WTHeckkk.
Followup with my primary care on Friday to see if she agrees and thinks we should do anything else. I think I'm going to at least ask about Nero meds to calm the symptoms because the anxiety and panic attacks because of it are getting worse.
Also @vino831 just responding here in the newer post, I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. That must be difficult with your DH throwing himself into work and the gym. Thinking of you guys!!! But so glad to hear that you feel like you're getting into a routine.
@npaulie resistance bands can be so great! They are really hard! And they are super cheap online. I hope you can find a solution that works for you.
Guys are we ready for a PP challenge?? I'm down to repeat the pregnancy ones maybe? I think we did the push up challenge first? Maybe start next week once @serenity13 and I clear our 6 weeks? I am craving some sort of structure!!
Seriously though, I feel like I'm missing out.... waaaaaaaah
I saw the doctor that did my c-section for my 6 week appt today. She was so apologetic about my experience in the hospital, she clearly just felt so badly that I had such a scary (and prolonged) go of it. Although it wasn't her fault. I don't really blame anyone. It just was what it was. I did start crying in the office when she asked me if I was ok with my decision to formula feed. I mean, I'm still not OK with it - and I still get very emotional when I talk about it. I think I worried her because of course she's trying to look for signs of PP depression. But I think I convinced her I'm not depressed, I'm just disappointed and I'm not over it yet. I will be. I'm just not there yet. I think working out will help me get over it.
Have fun on your trip! Can't wait to wait to hear how much Oscar enjoyed it!!
unfortuantely I haven't gotten a private message from her on here or on my FB email. I've been checking!
awesome job working out @triwellnessgirl!
sorry about the gym @npaulie that's too bad they won't let you bring LO now
@jenny0228 glad you have the all clear for working out. I hope working out helps you.
i am currently at work boooo. First day back but i surprisingly feel ok with it. My mom is watching Tyler for today and next week at home and then we have a nanny starting. We are trying to figure out his schedule so I can leave a good schedule for the nanny for feedings and nap. I didn't do that at all while I was off - I am a more feed the baby when he seems hungry.
ETA: Hope to see you over there soon! (Since the Bump ate it the first time I typed it!)
@jenny0228 yay for being cleared! What did the OB say about your bleeding? It is possible you got a period because of the formula feeding?
I have had so many appointments with S that my workouts have been non existent this week so far. She is also SUPER needy the last couple of days. I suspect she is either having a growth spurt, leap 2 or both.

When do you head home for your visit!?
@kjd291 we're flying home June first. A bit nervous about traveling so long with a newborn and dealing with a layover. But I've been told traveling with them at this age is as easy as it's going to get. Going to just wear him the whole time I think. Unless I get kicked off an airplane for that... Hahahaha (just kidding hope none of you ladies work in air travel)
