Any time I get any cramping/contractions I start getting excited. But I have a feeling I'm in this for the long haul.

I have a weird one. I have been obsessed with certain scents. Mostly clean ones like cleaning products, laundry detergent, and hand sanitizer. I can't get enough of them. I promise I'm not smelling them TOO much.
  • @LMMama I bet it's tied in with nesting! I could see that with hope much nesting I've been doing lately.
  • Varicose veins are worse. They've crept from my thigh, down to my calf. I've been wearing my compression leggings so much, I think the weave has. relaxed, as they aren't as effective. Soo much for avoiding another clothing purchase in the home stretch.

I was trying to describe lightning crotch to my husband last night. I landed on 'it feels like someone is kicking me in the cervix. Because someone is kicking me in the cervix'. He sympathized but of course it still hurts!
  • The upper right spot on my bump which was numb before, almost like it had fallen asleep, now is just sore, like it is a big bruise. Weird.

  • Swollen fat fingers, I feel like an 80 year old woman with arthritis when I write anything.
  • The tips of my toes and my left hand has gone numb. The nurse said that this is probably a normal thing. The sensation is annoying to say the least.

I have pregnancy induced carpal tunnel.  The last week or so it's bothering me during the day (previous to now I just had to wear wrist guards at night).  My fingers go numb if I don't hold them just right, driving is so awful.  I feel your pain sister!

Ugh this is the worst! If I bend my arm in a certain way my entire hand goes numb. This will go away, right?!

So they say!  Here's hoping it goes away quickly

Had my group b strep swab test this morning and it hurt so bad! I didn't realize how tender I was down there and I was in tears. It didn't hurt at all with my daughter- I didn't even realize the q-tip went in until it was done. I'm super crampy now too. Dr said my pelvis was very tender when she was feeling to make sure baby was head down and said I'm definitely making progress! She offered to do a cervical check but I declined- no sweeps or cervical checks for me if it was that painful for the swab!

Yes!! I about jumped off the table!!

I don't think the cervical checks hurt like that did. That felt more like a scratch to me.

Ummm... What the hell kind of group b strep test did your OBs perform!?  With my two prior pregnancies, it was literally just a light swab - like wiping almost.  Nothing went "in" (like they didn't shove the collection tip up there).
It's supposed to just go in a few cm which is what they did, then the rectal one doesn't go in- but I was apparently extremely swollen. It definitely didn't hurt with my first so it really caught me off guard!

That's craziness!  Mine was literally a tiny swab-- I didn't even really realize he was done.  Weird how different doctors can be!

  • Did someone mention something before about scar tissue acting weird during pregnancy? I have a small scar from a bug bite or something on my leg that's been there for years and has just today started getting painful if touched and seems to be bumping out a bit. WTF?

Same with my last pregnancy and it's just a tiny q-tip! So wasn't expecting that.

Lightening crotch! That's what the cervix punches/head butts/ kicks or whatever they are are called. I've heard this but couldn't think of what it was when it started happening to me. It is in my top 5 least favorite pregnancy symptoms for sure.

Random question... Is anyone STILL taking Diclegis (or something similar) for nausea?  I am down to just taking one at night, but if I don't take it, I pay for it the next day.  My doctor told me some women take it right up until delivery, but I can't believe at 35 weeks, I'm still relying on meds to keep from getting sick!

I still get nauseous every afternoon and sometimes puke.  It was never bad enough that I had to take something but it's for sure still there!
  • @Waiting4Fred I still take 2 diclegis a day. I'm 36+4 and still threw up last weekend 6+ hours after eating. I gave up on trying to stop taking them. I'm going to take 2 a day until labor and my OB said that's fine. I'm only somewhat concerned it could affect my milk coming in some you aren't supposed to take diclegis while breastfeeding.

I had mine yesterday too and declined a cervical check, though I desperately want to know, even though it really means very little.

I'm really shocked yours hurt that much. Probably best that you declined. Yikes!

  • Can anyone truly explain the difference between peeing my pants and leaking amniotic fluid? I know it smells sweet and is supposed to be clear, but I'm very nervous I will be leaking amniotic fluid for hours before I realize I'm not just peeing my pants more often that day.
  • meg2704meg2704 member
I don't think my panty liners are doing their job anymore. And I really don't want to wear actual pads every day until I deliver (and for several weeks after!)

I am also still taking diclegis. Two pills every night, when I forget I'm not throwing up but I'm definitely nauseated.

I had 2 "my water broke" episodes with dd. A week or 2 before my due date I stood up and felt a leak and a small puddle right as dh was coming home from work (5ish pm). We called l&d and they told us to come in because it sounded like my water broke. So off we went, checked in, monitored baby, tested my cervix with a giant q tip and around 1 am!! They finally got the results back that it was not Amnio fluid.
When in labor I was mid-lying down to go to bed all of the sudden my water exploded, luckily missing the bed. We called l&d to tell them we were on our way, dh mopped it up- lots of water! Upon arrival I stood up in the parking lot and another waterfall happened. It was gross and unmistakable.

Point being unless scenario 2 happens, no one can tell you for sure, you actually have to get it tested unfortunately.
But I have had the weird little leak thing happen twice this week. And unless it happens at least twice in one day I'm not going in, because amnio will continue to leak as it regenerates.

My water has never broken on its own, so take this with a grain of salt.  Sometimes it can be a slow leak and not a big gush, I was told by my doc that if I suspect my water broke to lay flat for 15 mins then sit up, if you have another gush when sitting up, then it very well could be your water.  That said, I have zero pelvic floor and pretty much piss my pants with every little movement.

Why do I feel I will be that person trying to bend in half to "smell" the liquid?

  • I'm soooooo tired. Victoria was soo active last night, and her movements felt almost aggressive compared to the normal "wave" that it feels like, that I couldn't fall asleep and had to wait for her to calm down.
also... y'all are starting to make me really nervous when it comes to the group strep b test. Hoping my OB takes it easy down there for it lol

I had a slow leak with DD1. It was clear with white specks and had no odor. It seemed to be no more than my regular discharge, although once I stood up and there was a small gush, but nothing to write home about. I called my OB and she said it just sounded like discharge... luckily I had an appointment the next day and she checked it and it was indeed amniotic fluid.

This weekend the same exact thing was happening, except the gush was a little bigger. It looked exactly the same as it did with DD1. I went to L&D and they tested it and it wasn't amniotic fluid. It was a little embarrassing, but I'm glad I went.

    Long story short, no.
  • Thank you everyone for your responses.
@Kylieslip24  I like the idea of starting to worry if it happens twice in one day
@Stankonia2014 I also have no pelvic floor and a small bladder so I pretty much always pee a little after 15 minutes of sitting in one position these days.
I know it is not super common for your water to break first, but in my family it has happened to 4 out of four people so I'm a little nervous.

Can you ask if you can do it yourself? At my midwifery practice, they give the swab in a container to you and tell you to stick it in your vagina about an inch and then pull it out and swipe backwards over your anus, then put it back in the container. You don't even give it back to the midwife. You put it in the little door in the wall of the bathroom where you put your urine samples.

I honestly didn't even feel mine. He used a tiny cotton swab (like the ones for your ear, but longer) and he was done in a second. It's really not that bad, I swear.
  • Ladies, I could not get out of bed this morning. Literally could not physically roll my belly from one side to the other. I was like a turtle stuck on its back. My hubby had to haul me out, after he finished hysterical laughing. 4 more weeks...
I've had DH push me out of bed so I could get up to pee.
