@bcashaw Yes! The name thing is so weird. Some of them fit, but others I'm like there's no way that's her name. It's not even close to what I was imagining.
@dragonfly87 Congratulations! That has to feel amazing!
I have been awake for so long and it's only 5:20. I was having a wild pregnancy dream and was woken out of it by my DS yelling "Rawwwwwwr!" in his sleep and giggling. He passed back out immediately. I'm still up. Whomp whomp.
I just took all my prenatals in an empty stomach before bed... the nausea is here in full force. My puke bowl is by my bed and I'm desperately trying to ignore the nausea and fall asleep. Never. Again.
@dragonfly87 Congrats on graduating! I got mine 7 years ago. I hate how they don't give it to you when you walk at the ceremony. My masters was mailed to me and left on the porch in the rain. I called and complained and they told me to bring it in for replacement. I refused and said it had gotten moldy since it was left when we were on vacation. They gave me a hard time and made me drive to pick the new one up, but it took 4 years to earn, so I deserved it!!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I need some luck sent my way today. I have a big meeting with my boss where we will discuss no only my maternity leave and my schedule after I return but also a reevaluation of my position. This is something I had intended on doing prior to finding out I was pregnant, it's been a long time coming. The current level of my position does not accurately reflect responsibilities and required expertise, I had planned on discussing this with my boss at this year's evaluation (which is this month) and have already gathered information from main HR who agrees and admits they didn't realize when they classified my position the level of responsibility and specialized knowledge it required. Complicating the situation is I was recently offered another position that I don't necessarily want to take for a variety of reasons but it makes me need to know where I stand here. I have received mixed feedback from my mentors, some say it's not fair for me to ask for this when I know I am going to be going out on leave and others say that my maternity leave should have no impact on my position and my request. I'm so nervous. I'm afraid she will shut it down and then I have some serious decision making to do about the other position. I'm also just frustrated wiht the institution, I've been here over 10 years and am considered an expert in my field and I've somehow hit that "ceiling" that people say don't exist...but it does. That was longer than intended...just send some positive thoughts my way if you could. thanks!
@pawcall@kissthesky32 I still have a monitor in my almost 6 yr old's room. No shame. We probably don't need it, but it helps to hear when he wakes up at night.
@jess0211 so much luck. It's so frustrating how we don't even have good leave in this country yet only 12 weeks of being out pushes us down. I'm sorry you're going through it. I haven't spoken to HR yet but I really really would like to work from home 2 days a week just for 12 weeks after maternity leave, working with my boss on set projects to do while I'm home. If they can't even give me that I'll have to reevaluate some things as well.
I've always had an audio monitor but recently decided to go back to a video. This one is supposed to collect sleep data and even on sleep meds this kid DOES NOT SLEEP so I figured why not. He's the wildest most insane sleeper ever.

My dog got very sick last night. She was vomiting and crying so DH slept downstairs with her. This is so wrong, but I slept amazing last night alone. No allergy snoring no bed hogging. So peaceful!
PSA: Never handle jalapeño with bare hands. The juice never comes off. Even after washing your hands 5 times. I took my contacts out last night and OW! And my fingers are still burning this morning.
So this morning I woke up, made lunches, got the kids ready for school. Put in a load of laundry, gave baby a bath , put her in her highchair with some Scrambled eggs. Tidied the house, switch the laundry, stuck my keys in the door, packed the diaper bag, put shoes and coat on the baby. Put my shoes on, grabbed the diaper bag, locked the door and made it to the bus stop(it's only across the street) before I realized the baby was still in the high chair. Whoops.

I have been sick now for 3 weeks. It started with a head cold. I eventually went to the doctors last week when my throat was so painful, I didn't want to swallow anything. She said she'd put me on an antibiotic but felt it was viral. I declined the antibiotic. I hate when providers push unnecessary antibiotics! She did a strep test which came back negative. Since then, the sickness has moved down into my chest and yesterday I woke up with pink eye. Went to the doctor's this morning and I have what she believes to be bronchitis. It's obvious I have pink eye. I'm now on an antibiotic and eye drops. I just want to feel normal again. The first trimester fatigue, lethargy and nausea, combined with an illness does not make for a very pleasant life right now.
@cwalker042 you poor thing! I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well!

Good luck @jess0211 ! As a fellow working mom, I can identify. FWIW, going out on mat leave should have no bearing on your career trajectory. Ask for what you deserve.
@jess0211 - hope your discussion goes well. I was in the same boat last week - having to tell my boss I would be going on maternity leave during my evaluation - I also feel like my career has been stunted (because I'm a mom) and I've put in 10 years and deserve more than what I'm getting. It is frustrating! Where would the world be without us women?!?!?!
Thanks ladies. Unfortunately we didn't even get to the re eval because she was negative about my requested schedule change I felt like adding to that while she was clearly not in the mood wouldn't have helped my case. I am very disappointed at the moment as this is very unlike her. Even more unfortunately I have a pseudo-interview for another job on Monday and today's convo left a very bad taste in my mouth and is making me seriously have to consider this other potential option.
I'm sorry, @jess0211. If it was unlike her, maybe she just has something going on and will be more accepting once whatever else she's dealing with gets settled
This is what my tap water looks like. I just called and it's apparently only my neighborhood, and it stinks. They're waiting to get it fixed but in the mean time I'm glad I have jugs of water in our hurricane kit.
@jess0211 Sorry it didn't go well. When my work sucks I think of how much worse my life would be if I wasn't a mom. Its more complicated but gives you perspective and cuddles! Hope things turn around and maybe the interview will be the answer.
@jess0211 That sucks. I hope she comes to her senses. @BayCamp gross! I hope it gets taken care of soon. @cwalker042 Hope you feel better fast! @pawcall Is that a fire truck bed I spy?
