Infertility

Billing for IVF

I'm trying to figure out the cost of IVF and I'm getting conflicting information. I have a call into our biller at our fertility doctor as well as the insurance, but I'm too impatient to wait until they call back. (Plus, I just got disconnected by the insurance twice and talked to someone that was pretty clueless and confused me.)  So know I turn to you fine ladies.

So...the insurance rep said that the "IVF procedure" will only have $3k covered; the other stuff will be covered by 85% so their definition of "IVF procedure" makes a big difference.  Now, does that mean the egg retrieval only, or does the term "IVF procedure" mean the retrieval, embryology, and fresh cycle?  Does anyone has any insight to rest my crazy brain?

Our insurance used the phrase "ivf cycle" and included everything but meds--all scans, blood work, retrieval, caring for eggs and embryos, transfer, and beta. I'm intrigued by "ivf procedure"--it's not just one thing!!

  • Yeah, you probably need to just wait for the biller to call you back about your specific sitch.  GL!!! :)  I would think if its fresh that would be included as one cycle, but idk.
