Nicknames for Valerie?

Im expecting my third child in December and the names are chosen whether it's a boy or a girl. For a girl, the name would be Valerie, after my mother. I would love to find a nn that works, other than Val, since that's what my mom always went by. I just think it would be odd to call my baby by my mom's name, even though it is beautiful. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My name is Valerie, and I can tell you that most people go ahead and call me Val, even after introducing myself as Valerie. It just kind of naturally happens since it's the most obvious nickname. However, most of my friends and family call me Val, so I have no problem with it.

@MrsVP614, I'm sure that will happen as well, but I think we would introduce her as Allie, so our friends and family would call her that. In school I'm sure they'd call her Val or Valerie and she could correct them then if she wants to. I just want something that differentiates her name from my mother's
