Boo I guess I belong here too... my EDD wooshed by yesterday. Annnd www.sadtrombone.com.
I told my office I'd be working from home until the baby arrives. I don't want to worry about riding the train to/from work while in early labor or my water breaking while in the office anymore. And it's nice to avoid all the annoying questions and worried looks.
I'm not overdue yet, due date is Monday, but last week at my appointment my doc said any day now and that he'd be surprised to see me at 39 weeks... well that came and went. since then all signs have stopped
Just bought some pineapple - see if I can get this baby moving before my induction scheduled for Monday.
Oh good call! I avoided some pineapple in my fruit salad at the beginning of the week because I wasn't ready to have the baby yet (had some work to do) but now that's passed as has my due date, so I should go out and get some! I love that stuff!
Story time...if any of you are trying to induce with spicy foods, avoid hot chili peppers. DH eats them like how a normal person eats potato chips so I thought, this must not be too bad, I'll try it. Big mistake. 1 pepper down, not so bad, definitely spicy, but tolerable. About 3 peppers in I started coughing from how spicy they were and could stop. Well then coughing turned into choking from a seed going down the wrong side which then turned into me vomiting into the kitchen sink so violently that I pissed my pants and had tears running down my eyes. If it wasn't bad enough, this morning I had a burning hot #2. I'm definitely feeling some cramping and before I got sick the baby was moving like crazy so we'll see where this goes, but I definitely don't recommend it. I'm thinking I'm going to go down the pineapple route or just get some hot wings because those are always good.
I'm sorry to hear it, @OmegaRose3 . I never got the "eat spicy foods to induce" thing. They give me the worst heartburn during pregnancy! Not to mention the spicy poops...ugh. It's just not worth it. I'd rather be pregnant longer. Pineapple is also acidic and therefore causes some heartburn as well but it's not like spicy foods.
@bacorrea I had some pineapple at a party today! I wish I had had the thought to buy some pineapple products while I was out yesterday. There is a ton of pressure for me to have this baby tomorrow as my parents are driving through town (3pm tomorrow to 9am Monday) ... and they WILL be annoying about it if the baby isn't here yet. :-/ Also Mother's Day is a nice day to have the baby. But the baby will come when s/he comes! I'm going to try to figure out what I can do tonight to get things going, though. Maybe DH and I can DTD? I had a great sex drive even late into this pregnancy but this last week, well, it really feels like I'm 40 weeks pregnant so I'm not as thrilled at the prospect...!
Anyone else kind of get depressed opening the board to see a little yellow notification on the birth announcement thread, knowing that you STILL can't post there? :-/

An advantage of going overdue is that you can get extra things done. I didn't mind going overdue at first because it was still during the week and I got things done while the kids were at school/daycare (I finished my job for the semester earlier in the week). But then the weekend hit. I can't get anything done this weekend because I'm dealing with my current kids so much. I guess this is the silver lining when the weekend is over and I'm still pregnant?
@kat81 I'm having that problem, during the week I don't mind being over because I can keep on top of the housework and make sure everything is done and ready, once the weekend hits, and DS and DH are home, the shit hits the fan and the house looks like a bomb hit. This weekend wasn't too bad because we couldn't afford to do much for Mother's Day so H did all the cleaning and laundry for me, so today (it's Monday here) while DS is at preschool I can just pick up a few toys and run a vacuum through. But yeah, I don't want to end up going to hospital with my house in shambles because I'm going to have to come home to the mess or worse depending on whether DS stays at someone else's house or MIL/my mum come to my house to stay with him

@bacorrea yes me too about the laundry! And I keep thinking it's the last load of maternity clothes, then it's not! Or the last time I'm wearing a particular outfit/shirt, but it's not.
Well I'm here because I'm having impatient-induced insomnia. As predicted, this would hit Monday, 4 days overdue. My parents are leaving town in a matter of hours. No signs of labor for me (other than the contractions I've had about every 8-75 minutes, usually every 25, for the past two weeks). So they won't get to see this baby until they come back, whenever that might be. I'm also getting more concerned about how our "help" (other grandparents) will leave the country this coming weekend; the closer we get to that time the more worried I am.
My SPD had been treating me well but now it really sucks because I had a very very active weekend to try to get the baby out. Everything is extra sore and lying here, having to get up to pee, etc, is really rough.
At least tomorrow (today--in a few hours) the kids will be at school and I'll have another check-up. But yeah, I'm a sourpuss right now and annoyed I'm not sleeping. I'll probably just get a nap in tomorrow.
Also I'm starting to get annoyed with the check-ins from friends and family. At first I was liking them because I wasn't ready or impatient yet myself but now it's so annoying. Worst of all from DH, actually! He stayed up late to work and every time I got up to pee he was like, "are you having the baby?" NO, DH, I GET UP THIS OFTEN EVERY NIGHT TO PEE. I'll obviously tell him if something is happening. (And to make matters worse yes I usually am contracting but it's a one-off or two-off I-have-to-pee contraction rather than the timeable ones.)
On the major plus side, I am a total badass because I went to a dance class today! And I totally kicked butt in it, too. My group even applauded me for this one thing that we did across the floor one person at a time. My parents took me (I don't really drive on my own now) and took some photos. Maybe I'll post them. I was proud of myself and very happy to be active. I could never do this at the end of my other pregnancies.
OK writing that last bit made me feel better already. I hope you ladies hang in there!
Hahaha about the laundry-- I think the same thing every time I start a load! It's warm this week so I've got only 3 outfits that I can wear. The rest are from winter and barely fit.
And @kat81 I totally get your frustration with people asking for updates. So. Annoying. Especially when you're trying to keep your mind off of the obvious.
I'm not overdue yet but the laundry thing is true over here too. I typically wash clothes on the weekend and this weekend I said nope I am not washing my work clothes because I'm going to have this baby by Monday... well its Monday and no baby... and I had to piece together an outfit because all my good stuff was dirty.
@bacorrea Yes, I had a little last night. I've heard eggplant parmesan because of the herbs (basil and oregano), so I've been putting B & O on all my foods I can, nothin'. (As in, I'm not sure it's the eggplant itself.) I'm looking for an OWT I haven't tried at this point.
Just got back from my appointment. No progress since my last appointment Wednesday in spite of having had like 1000 contractions since then so I'm thinking it will probably still be a long time before the baby comes. It's good to know that but I didn't ever picture myself as someone going more than a week overdue! And we might be screwed with regard to who our backup/helper people are since the in-laws are leaving the country this weekend. We'll see....
On the positive side, the NST was GREAT in that the baby's health is quite good. That's what matters!! Fluid check Friday or so.
I don't think they will let me go more than 10 days over, I'm feeling ok with the prospect because I know that no matter what I will have my LO in my arms by Sunday, but I am still so bloody uncomfortable! The only plus side is that the band on my maternity jeans has gotten too tight and my normal low-rise jeans still fit under the bump so as long as I wear a long shirt, I'm sweet and don't have to keep looking at the maternity clothes going "this is the last time I'll wash/wear that"

Are fluid checks normal when overdue? I've seen that mentioned twice now. @kat81 what are they checking for?
Yeah for the non-stress test they are checking for normal ups and downs of fetal heartbeat and will maybe also be able to see how the fetus responds to a contraction if you have one during the test. They gave me juice and we saw (heard!) the heartbeat get MUCH faster then go back down. This is the type of thing they were looking for.
The fluid test, done by ultrasound, is to measure how much fluid is in there. I guess for whatever reason fluids sometimes go down when you're overdue and they want to make sure there is enough. I don't really know the details about this, though. Apparently it does somehow look into the placenta health as well (I guess they can see the placenta's size on the ultrasound, for example.)
The NST I think is the first check/intervention so to speak, then the fluid test. Or you do both the same day.

My OB said the fluid test was to help look at the functioning of the baby's kidneys. He said that the baby is drinking currently and if there isn't a lot of fluid then the kidneys aren't functioning as normal. Not sure if there is another reason for the fluid check, but that it is a part of the NST.
Awesome thanks @kat81@Jens_Hoes I am just not sure what to expect at my appointment tomorrow! I will be 40.4 and I'm hoping if they decide to induce that they will let me schedule for next Monday at the earliest, but obviously I will do what's best for baby.
Fluid levels drop as you get closer, they're checking to make sure there is still enough fluid around LO, or not too much, that you don't have a slow leak you haven't noticed (because discharge also increases) they are also checking the placenta as it will actually start to calcify and break down after 42 weeks usually, on some women this happens sooner. Usually a NST is sufficient to check the placenta function though, LO will obviously stress if the placenta isn't functioning properly.

I didn't know that an NST is a test of the placenta. That reassures me because I had one yesterday and they said the baby did amazingly. Last time I when I went overdue the placenta looked like hell at the time of delivery so I'm worried this one is turning to shit as we speak (and I'm already more than one day past when I went last time).
I also didn't know that they'd look at kidney function in the fluid check. I thought it was just to test fluid levels...maybe it depends on what you get. Mine is at the less advanced imaging center so I'm not sure they'll even be able to do a kidney check. I am terrified of a super slow/small leak possibility, though, because I'm GBS positive so any water breakage is even worse than usual and I've had MASSIVE discharge all pregnancy. Yesterday at the midwife appointment I got up from my seat to disrobe for the cervical check and noticed a wet spot in the seat. As in I had so much going on down there I had gone through my pantiliner and underwear and pants (thin ones). I told the midwife but she was not concerned, as discharge does increase and it was already so much to begin with. But that's precisely why I'm afraid I wouldn't notice if my water leaked. Especially because someone on here or the fb group said that when their water broke while the baby's head was extremely low (mine is), the water barely leaked because the head plugged it up. I could totally see this happening as the baby's head is extremely low (and has been for 3.5 weeks, so no that is not a sign I'm going into labor soon.)
Well I'm officially overdue. Yesterday was my due date. I have an appointment tomorrow and ultrasound to make sure everything looks ok. My doctor induces at 41 weeks. I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that because I've heard pitocin makes contractions more painful and I want a med free birth if possible.
Out of curiosity, were your moms overdue with you and/or your siblings? So far my pregnancy has been very similar to my mom's and she was 2 weeks overdue with my brother and I and 10 days with my sister. I know due dates werent always as accurate but it makes me think I'll have to be induced.
@chocolatelemons my moms water broke early with me, she ended up with a C and the rest of my siblings were all scheduled Cs. So the like mother like daughter doesn't work in my case.
I posted in appointments thread, but I'm only 2cm and cervix is high. I go back on Friday for a NST and US, and then they schedule induction. If everything looks good my dr will let me go to 41.6 which is next Thursday.
@chocolatelemons My going late seems to be a new thing in the fam. Both my mom and identical twin sis had pre-e and early c-sections, so who knows if they would have gone late otherwise? Here's to hoping pre-e isn't in my cards too, but I'm starting to worry about it in these "extra" weeks because my BP has been inching upwards.
Re: **Overdue Thread**
@kat81 and @bacorrea I hope baby waits!

This is our diaper pail, ordered from amazon actually after I was overdue already. Seems like a message about the baby.
Well I guess it is a good thing for the baby to be 4+ days late if the diaper pail is also going to be late.
