Ok, I'm gonna start this UO off with a doozy. I hate when people compare things that are not the same at all by saying "it's a slippery slope, if we allow gay marriage, then soon we'll be allowing beastiality"...not the same. "It's a slippery slope If we make vaccines mandatory, then it will soon be mandatory to medicate all kids with ADD. It should be a personal choice" again, not the same at all. Not vaccinating your kids can kill people. Not medicating your kid for ADD doesn't really hurt anyone. I also hate when people compare circumcision to female genital mutilation. Again, not the same thing at all.

boom.
edit: words are hard
Why you gotta make this so hard!?!?!?! I agree with you on all these points but I really wanna stick up for myself (and my slippery slope thoughts from the other thread) and argue against you. WTH @erinh84?
ETA: This is complete satire and typed in a joking/loving manner... in case that didn't come across.
I just ate a whole row of GS cookies. STAHHHP MAKING ME HUNGRY FOR MORE SUGAR!!!! lol
Also, cake needs icing, but not too much, and it has to be buttercream. Unless it's angel food, in which case it needs sugary strawberries or peaches and whipped cream.

No worries lady. I was just excited that you gave me like 3 uo's in 1, so I stole the examples from the vaccinations thread.
Buttercream all the way... don't give me any of that whipped crap.
My UO... parents don't need to show up for EVERY school event. DH is going to my SS field day at school, and goes to all of their holiday lunches, and any other activity where the parents are allowed. I told him I won't be at everything for this LO, she needs to know we can't always be there. I will however be sure to go to all the important things (graduations, recitals, etc..)

Well if you wanted me to rebuttle, I've been thinking about it: 1 donut CAN turn into 12 donuts= slippery slope giving in to your child once CAN lead to a lifetime of giving into your child= slippery slope a UO thread on TB CAN lead to cake cravings and/or eating of cake = slippery slope

True story, just messaged my mom to make sure there will be cake at the shower she is hosting this weekend. All because of this thread.
@ladylolly89 I still love you like a fat kid loves cake. Haha see what I did there?
Also, my little old god-fearin' granny makes an amazing cake called "better than sex cake". Yep, she named it herself haha. Anyway, it really is better than sex(then again, I haven't cared about sex this entire pregnancy). I just emailed her for the recipe because y'all just had to start talking about cake.
Most icing is trash and so I typically just avoid it altogether. It ruins perfectly good cake. My mom actually usually leaves a cupcake or two unfrosted when she makes them so she doesn't waste frosting knowing I won't eat it.
I think if you've received any decent amount of education there's no excuse for simple grammatical errors. Words mean things and you're just doesn't mean the same thing as your.

This is an actual cake recipe...all over Pinterest! I have to admit that is one type of cake that I would actually try.

I found this recipe on Pinterest years ago... and it is amazing! They also have better than sex Chex mix, brownies, smores, and probably anything else you can think of. So very good. And you all are making this gluten intolerant girl want to cry.

Oh wow. I know my grandmas been making hers for like 25 years, I wonder if it's similar/the same? I'm going to go look it up on Pinterest and get that recipe too. DH is the cook in our house and he said he'll make it for me tomorrow since he's taking the day off. I'm pretty stoked!

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one because my phone does straight up stupid grammatical stuff, like capitalizing random words in the middle of a sentence. I try but sometimes fixing everything takes too much work.
@meilay, I'm so guilty of grammatical errors. I have a ridiculous love of unnecessary commas. I do generally use 'their, there, and they're' and 'your and youre' properly.
@Stankonia2014 it's mainly just the homophones that bother me. I'm not great with commas and I'm an English major/former teacher who doesn't give a sh*t about the proper use of "who/whom" but for some reason the homophones issue really grinds my gears.
@huzzahuzza I mostly understand that. My phone frequently changes "the" to "Thebes" which is nonsensical so I've experienced phones that do weird things.
Agreed on grammar. And I don't buy the "I'm on mobile" excuse. 99% of my posts on TB and TK are done on mobile. My mistakes are rare and small, and when I see them, I correct them either before or just after posting. It's not that difficult.

I make mistakes all the time because of autocorrect, but they are generally completely different words, like ready instead of really and ask instead of all. Today I referred to breastmilk as buttermilk and had to go back and edit it. One thing I do when writing on here is use parentheses way too much. I just can't help myself, and I have no idea why.
@ellie111227 I feel like I'm way over a reasonable amount of parentheses as well and for me it's because typically what's going in parentheses is something I would say as an aside or "by the way" in a face to face conversation. Since it feels like I'm having in person conversations here I way overuse parentheses to replace that feeling.

Cake is far superior to icing.

Icing 4 Life!
I'm not typically an icing fan, but buttercream is the exception. The Dominos sugar recipe is my favorite.

My parents both worked and had 4 kids. I was fine if they didn't make it to all of my events.
Most of my kids' (as in students) parents lives completely revolve around their kids' ECAs.

j/k I still love you.

You're.
(kidding and totally used 'your' on purpose) Stew on that grammar police.
