also i get annoyed with excessive belly holding/rubbing. it has always annoyed me but i gave the benefit of the doubt before i had kids...like maybe you have to hold the baby up bc of gravity? but after going through this...WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING?!
I find myself holding and rubbing my belly allllll the time and I don't even have a bump yet. Judge away! ;-)
@carries2018 this made me crack up!! SO true!! One of my close friends and her DH came over for dinner close to her due date last month. When we were done eating and just sitting, he was awkwardly rubbing her belly while we were trying to have an adult conversation. WTF are you rubbing?! STOP please.
@Mommaswizz oh gawd. It's one thing for the woman to rub her own belly (I catch myself doing it on occasion, subconsciously), but that's super awkward. If DH was doing that to me, especially in front of others, I'd be all "get the F off me."
October 2017 June Siggy Challenge -- "You Had One Job!"
Haha @carries2018 the bump holding in pics annoys me! I always assumed women did it because they want to be really clear that they are pregnant and it's not just tacos, and I just want to be like "we knooooooow you're pregnant! Stop doing that!"
I'll rub if I'm hurting or itchy. But I cracked up at SIL who was rubbing her gut the day she found out she was pregnant. I wanted to inform her that the baby was no where near that area at that point in time.
My grandmother rubbed my belly the other day and it was like nails on a chalk board to me. Please, just don't touch my stomach!!!
UO: I can't stand that thick, dark eyebrows are "in" right now. I'm not someone who plucks their eyebrows into little thin lines, but I also don't want my eyebrows to stand out on my face. I do absolutely nothing with my eyebrows in my daily routine (except pluck stray hairs of course).
I thought the belly holding in photos even when huge was more symbolic for cradling - because I've seen those side by side photos of belly and baby. And in general I assumed helping gravity lol. I guess I'll find out!
I cringed at the DH rubbing belly like Buddha in casual convo!
I prefer the fuller eyebrow look because that means I don't have to do much with mine and I look pretty much on trend.

lol if DH is going to awkwardly rub me in front of my friends and make everyone uncomfortable, then at least rub my back or my feet. Rubbing my belly gives me no relief. When my friend's DH was rubbing her belly i wanted to be like "are you trying to remind us you put it in there?". please dear lord stop.
DH and 2.5yo keep touching my belly to try to feel the babies. I want to be like "there is no baby there.. that's just excess fat that has been displaced by my uterus." But then why out myself?
I am not going to do maternity photos. I feel like I won't do it with any other kids anyway. DH can take some pictures with his fancy camera if he really really wants to. He's always saying that having a nice camera doesn't make you a good photographer, so he probably won't!
@asickles98 This is also crazy to me. I run in circles all day...I wear flats. If I sat at a desk, heck yeah i'd have cute shoes on...but no for teachers!
Also, my eyebrows are dark and thick. I do what I can, but I don't care that much. Glad to hear they are "in." that makes me more lazy!
UO: I think heels are symbols of the patriarchy and I've stopped wearing them completely. And I judge the ish out of women who fly in heels... airplanes suck enough, why make it so much worse by wearing anything other than flats?
H is only 0.5-1" taller than me. so i am banished to flats for lyfe. which actually works out for me bc i hate heels. but i think all the more power to heel wearers. your feet grow used to it (if you want them to), and they make you have better lines, and they are fun!
These were my wedding shoes (except the heel was just patent, not glitter). I don't wear heels on the daily but I do like to wear them on occasion.

I used to wear heels and then one day I did the math on how tall it makes me and now I can't do it. Buuuut for women who know how to walk in heels, I think it does make your butt/legs look better and the stride looks prettier than those of us banished to the flats shuffle!
I always LOL in my head when I see women walking around in heels that walk like an injured horse. Totally not the point of heels, sweetheart!
I flew in heels a few times because I was getting picked up by business partners. And I've had to drive in "nice clothes" because my boss doesn't believe in checking into hotels in shorts or jeans.
Now that I remember - adding these to reasons why I'm job hunting.
@dumbledoredies they do make people look skinnier! It's a fun trick where being longer makes you look thinner than you are.. one of the few perks of being a million feet tall for me.
Mine were purple flats. I really wanted purple shoes and those suckers were hard to find! I ordered them from Amazon and it took me 3 tries to get the right size since the sizing was weird.
- +1 to not being a fan of maternity photos! I don't love being pregnant. I don't need to commemorate how incredibly huge and uncomfortable I am. I'm down for a good family photo session instead. With that said, I may be up for some pics of DD kissing my tummy or something simple that my mom can take. Other than that, we will have newborn photos taken in the hospital - the ones they did for DD were so, so good that I don't need to schedule something different and get all stressed to leave the house a week after baby is born.
- One of DH's students mom's is a photographer. She took our "big sister" pregnancy announcement pics. She's offered to always take our family photos for free as long as we buy the images. I almost kissed her when she said this.
- I love cats. Don't hate, just pet and love the purring that ensues.
- Screw heeled shoes!! Smash the patriarchy and wear flats. (Even though they do make your legs and butt look amazing) Besides they're more practical and comfy anyway.
- Drug free birth mamas are great, but you don't get more gold stars because of it. (You're awesome don't get me wrong. Because contractions hurt so damn bad) I labored for 30 hours, pushed for 2 hours, got DD stuck in the birth canal and then had a c-section. So basically I gave birth twice ... to one child. I get the same number of brownie points and gold stars as you and I had all the drugs!!
Maternity pics. With ya, @carries2018 One of my co-workers has a daughter that is expecting next month who very recently had maternity pics done. When I tell you those maternity pictures did NOTHING to help her out, I mean that. I just thought, "Oh, honey....." the whole time I looked through them. Some are tastefully done and flattering. These?

+1 for most maternity photos I've seen look very awkward and not at all natural.
My UO: I think elaborate first birthday parties are pointless. Your kid isn't going to remember it. I understand having cake and family/close friends over, but I see some people renting out party rooms and I just don't see the point. Save it for when your child can actually remember it or can be more active with the other kids at the party.
@OliveOyl2014 this. Also, I've been invited to first birthday parties for friends kids.. and honestly it really annoys me. I just don't care enough that your kid is turning one to have to buy it a present and shit. It's not even like these people are my BFF'S because that would be different. Just friends where I've met their kid a handful of time.
Invite your family and super close friends. Nobody else cares.
@migdala Thanks - I actually wanted to get some professional shots, but I didn't get my act together. ::SHRUGS:: I only miss that when I see other beautiful pictures so it's neither here nor there for me.

*Side eyes* I threw a big first birthday for DD, I looked at it as the one and only party I got to throw that was totally what I wanted it to be.
