My bf today is at my doctors. I had a feeling that I was further along than they were telling me. I told my GP when I went in for an OB referral and I told the nurse at the clinic when she booked my first appt. I went for my NT scan today (my first ultrasound) and guess what? I'm a week ahead, just like I said I would be. Now, because they booked my scan late, the results are invalid. I know I don't have a medical degree, but when a patient says "hey, I only had sex once that month and it was over a week before I was due to ovulate" perhaps one should listen.
BF: I share a classroom with my coworker, the middle school band teacher (I teach the HS bands and choirs). She has horrible classroom management skills, as in screaming at the kids to get them to stop talking. Because we share a room and equipment, stuff often gets moved around throughout the day and messes get made. Today she has blamed like three different things on my HS kids with no proof.
Our bell schedules also don't line up, so sometimes there is a little bit of overlap with whose students are in the room at what times (thankfully not for actual class, but for lunch and tutorial period). The MS is on a different bell schedule this week due to state testing, and she absolutely flipped her sh!t when a couple of my students walked in expecting to be able to eat lunch in the band room like they do every day, one of whom actually needed to talk to me about something legit.
She's supposed to be moving out of this room and to a different room at the end of this year. It seriously can't come fast enough.
My BF is the spray sunscreen that I used yesterday. You had one job!

@ChocolateIsLife are we too soon in our relationship to laugh with you at this? Personally I don't trust the spray sunscreens because I had the exact same thing happen once.
@mrs_fogue It's never too soon to laugh at me. Walking around with shoes in public today was only possible via some awkward waddle. I've never used spray sunscreen before, but I sure learned my lesson.

I found out yesterday that my brother and SIL also announced they were pregnant over Easter weekend and baby is due about a month after ours. I'm kind of bitchy about it because a) they did this same thing with our baby #3, We announced over Easter and so did they, the babies were born about a month apart and my parents are always comparing them! and b) this is the second "joyful accident" they have had. I'm kind of thinking, do you not understand how this process works? If you have unprotected sex you may end up pregnant!
@purplestarz two potential solutions for you, one perhaps more realistic than the other:
1. Move to South Florida. A couple 95-100 degree summer nights with 100% humidity (because it doesn't cool down at night at all and there's zero breeze) will cure him fast. 2. Tell him that while Zika may not be a concern in your area, mosquitos can still carry potentially dangerous diseases and as a pregnant woman you shouldn't be taking that risk.
This also reminds me of my BF. It's 95 degrees outside. In April. I couldn't get at least a few more somewhat pleasant weeks before this shit starts??? Can't wait for the uncomfortable nights and $200+ ac bills (even with the house set at a sweltering 79 degrees) to start!
@purplestarz As someone who lived the first 21 years of her life in Miami, I can attest to what @bluejeanbabi05 said about South Florida.
I would tell him he can either sleep with his wife next to him OR with the window open. Not both. That's not fair to you and you need your sleep now more than ever.

@bluejeanbabi05 I was totally thinking of playing the pregnancy card. More specifically I was planning on telling him I can't take my allergy pills while pregnant (total lie) but I'm worried he might call my bluff (I'm a terrible liar). and coincidentally the only time he will close the window is when it's 100+ degrees, and our ac bill is outrageous as well. Our first summer month in California resulted in an almost $400 electric bill. We were AC newbs.
@bluejeanbabi05 thanks for reminding me of another BF. It's currently 52 degrees in April. Brrrrrrrrr not okay. And not typical. It's been like 64-75 and then we'd get a random freezing day. And today is colllddd
@purplestarz I HAVE IT. Tell him he's responsible for the ac bill then, because it's legit his fault it's so high. Open windows are not conducive to ac.
@mrs_fogue yep! I just tried to take a nap because it's been a shitty day and I have class tonight, but I felt like I was sleeping in an oven.
@purplestarz $400 sounds terrifying!! We installed a whole house fan in our house and it saves us all the dollars. Pull the pregnancy card somehow! I go with, "The noise outside makes it even harder to sleep and you know I have a hard time sleeping right now."
Get the man a fan and tell him to get over it. Haha
Today's BF goes to my fellow grad student who likes the sound of her own voice a little too much. She constantly interrupts classes to take the professor on tangents that only apply to her (like 30-45+ minutes of a story about one of her clients). And today, she interrupted another students' presentation on multiple occasions to indicate that she disagreed with the diagnosis. Girllll stop testing me today!
@bluejeanbabi05 as a SAHM he is ultimately responsible for all bills right now lol. Our friends have a whole house fan and it's amazing! We've considered it. Our house also has super old windows so I think if we get those replaced it should help too. Not looking forward to those AC bills!
@purplestarz ahh there has to be a way! I would remind him that while you're pregnant the membranes in your nasal cavity swell because of extra blood flow, which makes you much more sensitive to allergies and other pollutants outside. I'm not sure if thats true but it sounds legit, and I'm more stuffy so yeah. He should look at different air purifiers that are quiet and meant for bedside. Its always so humid in Houston so I can't imagine having the windows open all of the time.

@purplestarz this brings back some memories, I grew up in an old farmhouse. Like the kind that Joanna Gaines would just love to get her hands on. It makes me physically ill thanking I could have remodeled that and lived in it. Anyways (rabbit hole) it had an attic fan that would cool the hole house. I loved summer days when mom would turn it on and the sound it would make.
BF - since moving my due date up, not only am I not on target for milestones with you guys my friendzzz - I'm also off maternity leave the week before Christmas. I get up to 12wk post delivery with a combination of STD, PTO and unpaid days. So if I use my PTO for maternity leave, I have none for Christmas or NY.

Andplusalso, who wants to have sex with swollen nasal cavities. Open window = no sex.
Unless you're not currently having sex due to the fact that pregnancy is a bitch, then perhaps you should go on a sex frenzy, get him real used to it, then say, whoops swollen nasal cavities.
What is a whole house fan? We have solar panels and our AC bills are still around $200/month in the summer because the girls' rooms face east so their rooms get blazing hot and unbearable unless we turn to the AC on 72! I was thinking we'd be in good shape once they stopped napping (because we wouldn't need to keep their rooms cool in the afternoons), but then we went off and created two more babies.
@carries2018 I don't trust people who don't have AC units! Lol! JK! When we go up north to visit DHs family I usually die because some don't have ac's. We are going in July this year and if grandma doesn't do something I am going to purchase a window unit for our room! I need my sleeping conditions to be ice box cold in the summer.
Also I'm from the deep south where one would literally die in the summer time if there was no AC, I didn't know that was an option until my DH took me to upstate NY.
@tallmomma29 I don't even know how to properly explain it. It's this big fan that goes in your attic and helps air flow in your house. You open up all your windows (at night, I imagine) and it blows like crazy (those with actual whole house fans can probably provide a better explanation)
My BF is technology. I went back to work today with orders from the doctor to take it easy. As a teacher, that's not an easy task. Fortunately we have all these cool gadgets that help me teach from my chair and my students are older. I know how to use the technology but can't install them on my computer because I am not an admin. Well...none of the admins know how! We basically have all these fancy technology tools that no one knows how to install sitting around our school that we can't use. Awesome. Today was a huge hassle.
My BF: Heading into week two of teaching an old dog who can't learn new tricks. I should be nicer because she's an older woman who last year lost her teenage daughter to an awful tragedy and is now returning to the workplace after 10 months leave. She's a nice woman and I totally feel for her, as I just can't imagine that Hell for anyone, or how I would cope if it was me. Problem is the way she seems to cope is with, I don't even know what but it's heavy, medication. My boss already asked me to watch for signs of her usage and report on it which puts me in an awkward position. First week I've kept it all under cover. She fell out of her chair once trying to get into it (ok, they're like rolling bar stools so I let that slide) and she's constantly falling asleep (well she does have to get used to a rough schedule, we start at 5am) so I'm nudging her awake here and there. She constantly stumbles back and forth and around (which she attributes to a nerve issue she has in her legs) making her look drunk whenever she's not sitting. She'll go thru days of doing something correctly, and on the fourth day for example ask, what was that thing we do where you make a selection of all the numbers? You mean the thing I told you you're going to be doing the most in this position, and have already done a dozen times today? So far on that one I'm just admonishing her for coming in to learn a new job while being on a 500 calorie diet. I keep telling her, it doesn't leave any calories for brain food. Arghhhh, rant over, I think I'm just praying for patience and strength to deal with week 2 of it all.

@JessDG IT can suck sometimes! I've been dealing with them myself for 2 weeks trying to get a program reinstalled on my computer because apparently the new anti-virus program we have has not allowed it. But according to IT that just can't be it. Yet they've gone through all other possible issues.
@mrs_fogue trust me it sucks! we have window units but it isnt the same. i want to get central but it will cost a million dollars bc our house isnt set up for it. there is no easy way to add it. damn 1960s house builders!
@mrs_fogue most homes in Western Washington don't have AC, including ours. It's all good until we hit 90* for a week every summer. Otherwise it's all windows open after 8:00 pm and closed first thing in the morning to let the cool summer breeze in. We have one in-window unit for our room and make DD sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor when it's hot enough to use it. At this point I'm so sick of rain and cold I'm desperate for a day over 75*!!
@PizzaMonster3 I'm with you on the whole maternity leave! I need to carry these babies to 37 weeks without bed rest (I know, not asking for a lot, right? Haha) so then I'll go back the week after Christmas. I'm supposed to work Christmas this year, so I'm really really hoping I can make it without having to work the holiday. Our maternity leave is jacked up here.
I have another one. I'm irritated at websites changing things that don't need to be changed. I logged on to look at my stats and orders for the day and my entire dashboard is different and it's making me crazy. I know after a couple weeks I'll get over it and be used to it, but I despise change and fixing things that aren't broken.
@TallMomma29 A whole house fan basically works like @purplestarz said. You open the windows and when you turn on the fan it pulls the outside air in through the open windows and out through the attic. So it cools down the house and the attic at the same time. We use ours all the time. Even if it's not super warm we'll open some windows and cool the house down for a half hour or so. It saves us tons of money. We'll leave it on over night in the summer so we don't use the ac unless it's super hot. They aren't quiet by any means but we love it.
New BF: Um holy moly! I just logged into my health insurance portal and found an "you owe" $2000 ish dollars! What?!
Some of these were already paid to my OB but then the big one is the genetic testing (which was run thru insurance against my request) for over 1,000.00 and then I got a bill for 56.00... what?! I seriously have no idea what's going on... like i've paid all paper bills i've received. Maybe my insurance online portal isn't up to speed? I'll probably need to call on Wednesday when I have some time.
@wbleyl and it's your right to not tolerate that! What a brat!
@PizzaMonster3 'Merica def. needs to get it together. I don't even get that! I mean, legally, I do. But not paid!
Ok one more. It seriously gets on my nerves that dh won't get up early and go for a run in the mornings. Instead, he goes after he gets home from work, which isn't until around 5:30. Then he runs anywhere from 30-45 minutes, comes home and showers. So a couple nights a week, he's wasting an hour of the entire 2.5 hours we get as a family on weeknights running. When he could be doing this in the morning. I've expressed this to him several times and he just doesn't seem to care that it bugs me and it bugs our kids that they don't get much time with him during the week. Not to mention it makes dinner time super late unless I just say screw it and we eat without him because we're all too hungry to wait for him
