Oh sweet love of all that's good and holy, we are NEARLY finished with the basement bedroom remodel. Put the last coat of paint on last evening, and changing out electrical outlets tonight, as well as moving back in furniture. I'm so glad it's done...only the rest of the basement to finish!
@ladylolly89 and anyone else who still needs A&A swaddles, they have them at our local Home Goods for a great price. I saw 1, 2, and 4 packs in all sorts of colors.
@tjvan 12 seems excessive. I think I had 4 last time and maybe 5 or 6 this time. They are the best though so they'll be a welcome regift!

You guys I had the most vivid dream that's really messing with my today. In my dream I went to my 35 week apt and I had a different doctor and she checked me and I was dilated to a 3 so she decided it was best to just send me to L&D to be induced. For no other reasons. I tried to argue about the baby not being ready and there being no rush and no one was hearing it. I ended up running away from the hospital and hiding out and I couldn't believe everyone thought I should listen. It was so bizarre. Maybe it was all the dilation talk yesterday. I couldn't shake the dream and fall back asleep when I woke up.
We are going to Disney Sunday-Tuesday for our last vacation as a family of 4. AS much as I am nervous about going 34 weeks pregnant, I cannot wait to miss two days of work. These kids are ready for summer and it shows.

re: swaddle blankets. When I'm nannying the twins I have 1 on the couch as a changing station, one for each of them in their RnPs for while they sleep, 1 for each boppy pillow and 1 I use as a burp cloth! I know with twins obviously you need more of everything. Just sitting in the living room I can see about 14 of them! For myself, I already have 1 at home and I registered for 2-4 packs. I would say if you're going to use them for multiple purposes besides just swaddling 12 isn't too many. But I'm also used to babies that spit up A LOT. So I'm going overboard on swaddle blankets, bibs and burp cloths!
Yes, @alm52386 I use them for everything! Honestly I'd be delighted to have 3 or 4 packs, especially with soon to be 2 little ones. I was doing laundry every day to keep them clean when DS was a baby. I hate "pre-made" swaddle wraps - I only use the blankets.
My stepsons mom is having her baby today. It will be her first since my stepson who is 10. We aren't best friends by any means but we all get along. I haven't been quite sure how to feel about it but now that the day is here, I'm super excited for her and her boyfriend and of course my stepson. He will have had 3 baby brothers in 18 months after our new one is here. It also just makes me that much more excited and ready to meet my new squish.
In regards to cervical checks I was 3cm dilated for 2 weeks before DS came. It was both encouraging but also a mind @&$!. I'll still get checked this time around.
The ladies who have had prenatal massages... were you sore the next day? I feel like I was in a car accident I'm so sore. The pressure felt perfect yesterday, not too hard, what gives?!

Yes, it is common. You must have really needed it. Did you drink tons of water afterwards?
The budget vote in the town I work for did not go well and they're giving out pink slips to all of the nontenured teachers. Ughhhhhh. I might have a job next year, but I don't know when I'll know, and I'm really not in a good place to be interviewing right now, super pregnant. I really need a drink.

This was my mistake. My friend just told me I should've drank a lot more water than I did afterward.

You may have been dehydrated... I always tell my clients to drink tons of water the night before and morning of their session, as well as after. However with prenatal massages it's typically a pure Swedish/relaxing massage and really shouldn't have left you feeling that bad afterwards.
Ugh cervical checks. Bleh. My OB began checking at 38w for DS and 37w for DD. I HATE cervical checks and really would rather not. For DD I walked around for those 3 weeks at a couple of centimeters and about 60%-80% effaced, but I was ultimately induced past my EDD.
I had cervical checks with DD starting at 36 or 37 weeks. I didn't dilate at all before I went into labor naturally at 39+6. So they just made me depressed. I had an appointment at 39+3 and the doctor was like "maybe a fingertip?" But I think she was just trying to make me feel better haha. I'd like to not bother this time but I'm sure my curiosity will get the best of me even though I know it's meaningless.

Tell your ob you don't want to do checks. You don't have to do them if you don't want to. I didn't get checked last time until I walked into the hospital at a 9.5.

Aww, we are going to just miss you! I know at 30 weeks it has really helped to do the midday break and go back at night (at least for me).
We are attempting (for the 2nd time) to get the boys into Jedi training tomorrow. It's the one thing they have been talking about incessantly for the last month and I can't believe how fast it filled up the other day!!
Alright ladies, I need some ideas. This is a shout-out to all the NICU momma's out there. A good friend of mine, who is due in July, was just diagnosed with Leukemia two days ago. It looks like they might induce at 30 weeks so she can safely start chemo. I'm sending her two care packages this week. One will be a nicu family care package and one will be for her and her chemo journey. What do you think the most useful items would be? What helped you out in your experience? She is far away now, so unfortunately I can't donate meals or time to walk her dog or things like that.
My cousin had her baby yesterday about 3.5 weeks early! Pictures of him plus snuggling one of the twins right now is making me soooo impatient for June!!!
I went to my OB yesterday and he told me that there was a fight at MFM and 2 of the 3 doctors left...the two I see. I might be freaking out a little
I would be having a panic attack. There are 2 other OB's at the office I go to but I've never met them. I'm assuming that the 1 left at yours isn't going to be able to manage the patient list of 2 other Dr.'s + their own. I hope they set aside whatever differences they had and come back!
@LAMCH1980 If she is far from the NICU, gas cards are good too. I agree with those who said restaurant gift cards or like breakfast bars/easy snacky things.
@LAMCH1980 I was wondering if that was the case. Nevertheless I think it would be helpful for her partner to be able to get takeout, partners are not fed hospital meals. Does she read on a kindle or anything like that? That might be nice to get her a gift card for. Also just regular keepsake baby items might give her a sense of normalcy. I can't imagine how difficult a journey that is going to be for them.
@LAMCH1980 My friend had her baby at 32 weeks. We got her preemie clothes so he didn't have to wear hospital clothes the whole time, baby books for them to read to him in the NICU, giftcards, lactation tea, nursing pads, a few pairs of new fuzzy socks, a blankie just for the NICU, a new water bottle and snacks. T&Ps for your friend!
@LAMCH1980 since my little one is in the nicu these are the things I've bought for her to have while in the nicu. I bought her newborn size clothes. The preemie ones are too small length wise for her. If you buy onesies and sleep and plays make sure they are the snap kind and not zippered. All of the babies wires will need to come out of the clothing somewhere and zippered outfits don't allow that. Wipe warmer.. she loves it. Makes diaper changes less fussy when the wipes are warm. Sound machine so that she hears other things besides hospital noises. Diaper rash cream. I hate the way destin smells so I bought some burts bees instead. Baby wash and lotion. I bought aveeno. The nurses strongly recommended against any Johnson and Johnson they feel it's too harsh on preemie skin.
I am craving Sonic ice SO badly today! There's one just down the street, but I want to go during happy hour, and DS usually naps from 2-3:30. Hoping today is not a long nap day (who ever wishes that?!).

I love sonic ice and I've been craving so much ice this pregnancy! I'm currently chomping away on chick fil a ice which is pretty much the same.
I was looking forward to a relaxing Friday night, but the weather is calling for severe storms with a possibility of base ball sized hail. I miss living in sothern california so much. I don't know if I'll ever get used to this TX weather.
