Randoms 4/17

I am still annoyed at the lack of picture attaching on mobile, so no pic/gif but go ahead and chatter away here!

Re: Randoms 4/17

  • I'm super nervous today, starting a 2 week contract at a place that I haven't been to in over a year, and wasn't the most friendly/supportive environment last time I was here. In fact I'm surprised to be back at all. The only reason I am is because the person they want for the contract is busy until May 1, so I'm filling in until he's available.

  • If we have talked about this in another thread, please let me know and I'll head over there.

I am trying really hard to keep up with shaving down there. I have been just doing it in the mirror before I get in the shower. Last two pregnancies,
i sad forget it and let it go. I would really like to keep it up this time.

Anyone waxing at this point?  I've never waxed while pregnant. I feel like I am swollen down there, does that matter?
  • Anyone have the 4 Moms mamaroo swing.  They use them here in the nicu with the babies and I'm thinking of getting one.  I got my registery completion codes already from target and Amazon.  It's the cheapest on Amazon.  We were gifted the halo premiere bassinet.   I'm excited to use it when she finally comes home.  So in my state of drugged up thinking in the hospital i agreed  to push the baby shower back until May 20th.  There's a good chance my princess will be home by then so now we're thinking we're going to go buy most of the stuff we actually need for her we were hoping to get at the shower.
  • @Wearmi1 we got the fisher price soothing motions seat. It's a copy cat version of the mamaroo. We got it for $100 at babies r us and the girl working there said that parents liked this one even better. We haven't used it yet of course, but it seems really comfy.

Its this one exactly, except ours has bunnies on it.

I'm not waxing at this point but I am still shaving. And def swollen down there which makes it a little nerve wracking. I find that it's a lot easier to shave while taking a bath rather than a shower. I feel less  swollen after soaking for a little and I kind of just lift my hips so I can see what's going on down there better. Since I started using that tactic it's been a lot easier. God forbid anyone ever walk in on me while it's happening.
  • @Wearmi1 I see mamaroos on my local Facebook yard sale page pretty frequently. You might be able to get one for cheap if you keep an eye on a couple of those pages.
  • @Wino0920 I've only gotten waxed twice this pregnancy and plan to go once more closer to birth. It wasn't too uncomfortable and I'm really prone to razor bumps and ingrowns so shaving isn't really an option for me. Plus the whole haven't seen my mons pubis in months thing.

  • @meilay, did you swell when you got waxed? We're heading to Florida on Friday and I'm trying to drum up the courage to get waxed a couple days before we go because my bikini area seems to be more sensitive now than it was pre-pregnancy, but I don't want to be a swollen mess down there either.
  • @huskermom14 I didn't notice any swelling and DH remarked (with surprise) that I still looked the same. I'm not sure how true that would be at this point though and you might be safer just getting the bikini line done if that would work.

  • @Wearmi1 I would have a friend or family member put the word out that you need the gifts before the shower.  May seem tacky but if they're going to get you something anyway it might as well be when you need it! People will understand given your situation.
  • Not too terribly much going on here.  Trying to finish the basement remodel from hell as a way to keep my mind off the adoption and my fears that it's going to fall through.  I applied for a new job, so stressing about that possibility should keep me busy!

@Wearmi1 - I'm just thinking out loud here, but I've gotten a number of gifts already on the registry but my shower is this weekend.  Is there any way to get the word out that it would be much appreciated if the gifts were sent to your home early (or dropped off early) to take care of your little one and then the May 20th date can be reserved for the get together and fellowship of ladies?

Just trying to be practical here.

ETA - @lmudra  seemed to have the same idea.

Not sure...I applied yesterday, should hear about interviews in the next week or two.  It's internal, and we don't do anything quickly at my company.

  • Does anyone have experience breastfeeding with a thyroid disorder? I'll likely need to be on meds for mine after the baby comes and I'm not sure what that means for breastfeeding. I'll obviously ask our doctors, but just curious.
  • @mamaelle27. I have a minor thyroid condition (hypothyroid), my pill isn't a very large dosage but I breastfed DS. I had no issues and there were no concern with me taking meds while breastfeeding.

  • @mamaelle27, I have Hashimotos and take synthroid for it. I was on it all through pregnancy and BFing with DS and am currently doing the same with this pregnancy. There haven't been any issues so far.

  • @kahlan82, that article got me this week too. I have a really hard time with endings and this being the last one. Everything he grows out of will make me cry. I can't even deal with the thought of weaning him...as that marks the end of this season of life for me. Somehow, it feels like the end of my youth. Maybe youth isn't the right word, but it makes me very sad.

  • Today started with me sitting in juice my kids spilled (I barely have clothes that fit as it is so I wasn't changing and just kept on with wet pants) wrangling both kids into clothes only to have them both need to poop.  My son of course gets naked and my daughter didn't pull her pants/undies down enough and peed all over them.  Stood up and got poop on the bathroom rug.  I hope the rest of this Wednesday is more kind to me.  :|

  • @FSUNole31 NOT a great start! And seriously... WTF to not having clothes that fit at this point?! I'm not going out to buy new clothes at this point. Why can't the universe just be a little understanding??

  • I'm down to dresses and athletic shorts with the waistband rolled waaaay down in front. I have a few skirts that I can wear but if they aren't stretchy enough they hurt the underside of my belly.
I haven't even been comfortable in leggings since February.

+1 to this. I actually never could steal DH's clothes this time around - I tried to borrow his fleece jacket (men's M - he's tall and lean) and found it didn't "fit" any better than my ladies' M does!

I did actually have to order some summer clothes this week - tried to get stuff that will be good post-partum so I felt a bit better about spending the money.

  • I even had to start stealing DH's socks, mine cut my circulation off at my ankles.
  • RE clothes not fitting- I just ordered some summer tops that are maternity/nursing. I justified it to myself because I can continue to wear them while nursing and in the winter can just pair them with a cardigan.

Amen! I get "underbelly" in his Tshirts. Upside with that look, I could make it on the "people of Walmart" page!!!

Alsoplusalso.... my work changes its dress code and no more leggings!!!! WTF am I supposed to wear for the next 7-8 weeks!!!!

  • I still swim in DH's clothes. He's 6'1" and wears an XL or XLT and I'm 5'1" and wear an XS/XSP. That would be a convenient option though!
  • I'm grateful I don't have to wear real clothes to any of my jobs! I can wear yoga pants, sweatpants, hoodies, tshirts.. anything. I think I'll be fine for when the weather gets warmer. My mom got me a bunch of tanks and tshirts when I was visiting and I have shorts and capris. I expect I'll be wearing maternity clothes for most of the summer!

  • I no longer fit in my maternity clothes that I wore just fine last time. Proving my belly is huge. Last time I gained weight all over and weighed more than this time.
  • Luckily I only go into the office two days a week, the rest of the week i'm wearing leggings as pants (idgaf). I'd die if I had to wear real clothes five days a week.
  • I'm also in the nothing fits club. I'm really annoyed because I bought a dress for my shower anticipating some nice late April weather this weekend, and the weather has been steadily predicted to be unseasonably cold and rainy, making my outfit weather inappropriate. Now I don't know what to wear.

None of my yoga pants/ leggings even fit. They all give me serious love handles and I hate it.

What does everyone think of starting a weekly appointments thread once we start getting closer to 35 and 36 weeks? I find it interesting in other BMBs to read about cervical checks, growth scans, etc and thought it might be nice to have it all in one place.
    I think it's a great idea!
