I thought we had one of these going but I looked through everything and didn't see a food thread. So I thought this would be a nice weekly thing to do. Tell us what your eating and drinking. Please link your recipes if you would like to share that with the group. We could have a theme for each week like dinner ideas or more specific chicken ideas and so on.
This past week I have been trying to find healthy drink options other than water. I am slowly trying out seltzer water brands. I hated seltzer water up until the other day.... well I hoping if I just keep drinking it I'll acquire a taste for it ( kind of like beer
I live on seltzer. Flat water makes me gag when I'm pregnant. You can try adding a little juice or fresh fruit to give it more flavor.
Im eating dried fruit (mangos), olives, and ramen noodles. Those are the only things that appeal to me right now. I imagine I won't be cooking much for the next month or two:(

Your right this thread probably won't be very popular till 2nd tri! I do need to get juice..... I had thought about adding OJ to my seltzer to make it taste like. Mimosa lol
Monday's have "Meal Plan Monday" and Thursday's have "What My Pregnant Self is Eating" threads, for easier board organization. Anyone can post the threads, so if you want to spearhead those next week, that would be great!
I'm obsessed with sparkling waters (brands like klarbrunn and la Croix). Instead of adding juice, you could try San Pellegrino (blood orange is to die for!).
I'm a teacher and so usually my meals are 'on the go' and microwaveable. I've been trying to eat more healthy though. Now that it's my April vacation from school, I've been cooking eggs every morning and drinking the green machine smoothies by Naked. (The general consensus on the Internet says they're okay)
Typically I don't get bored of food very much and so I usually eat the same thing every day for lunch while I'm at work. For the past few years this has looked like a "smart ones" microwaveable meal. I really want to get into a habit of something a bit healthier, but still fairly simple. I've heard that baked beans are really good during pregnancy so I was thinking of getting some of those bags of frozen bean and cheese burritos and bringing in a couple to work each day. If anyone has thoughts or other suggestions on simple meals I can bring to work and microwave/eat in 15 mins that would be appreciated. I admire all the people out there who can do lots of meal prep ahead of time but if I'm being honest, I'm not there yet...
I'm also very interested in seeing what cravings I'm going to get!
@king23h I'm a teacher too and I also don't like to spend time preparing my meal at home haha. Many days I buy the garbage from the school cafeteria or I bring really random things from home. I'm looking for ideas too bc now I want to be sure I'm eating healthily in that 15 minutes we get to eat.

I have been living on ginger ale or seltzer which I put in the freezer just long enough to get slushy and this think I loved when I was sick as a child where you slice a banana and sprinkle it with cinnamon and honey and pour almond milk over it like a banana cereal.
@king23h If I were you, I'd make and freeze my own burritos. The crap they put in premade stuff just makes my toes curl! I make my husband's breakfast burritos... I just make a giant batch of all the ingredients (hash browns, scrambled eggs, shredded cheese, "beefless crumbles"/TVP, and hot sauce) and roll up 10 at a time. He just pulls them out and microwaves them. It doesn't take very long and then you can customize them and you know you're eating healthier ingredients!
@vvitchhazel And now I want a burrito! But seriously that sounds awesome. What do you wrap them in when you freeze them so they don't get freezer burn?
@TigerCakes So far, I've just been wrapping them in cling wrap and haven't had any issues. He eats two a day, so they typically don't sit in the freezer long enough to get burned! He wants me to try foil next time though. He eats them on the road and rewraps them in foil after microwaving and before heading out, so he wants to be able to reuse the foil.
@vvitchhazel That sounds awesome! Buuut it might be a bit advanced for me. (I'm terrible at making things with the exception of apple pie). I'll give it a shot this week though and see what I can figure out. @TigerCakes I am also wondering about the freezer burn. Thanks for the tip!
@vvitchhazel Thanks! I think I'm going to have to try those next week. That sounds much more appetizing than my typical hard boiled eggs I bring to work.
Costco has tons of pseudo healthy lunch stuff. They have all natural cups of chicken salad that are individually packed, eat with a bag of sliced peppers or crackers. They also have some good Asian soups that are microwaveable (like shrimp ramen) that are minimally processed.

I tried going through this thread to see if something appealed to me... Nope. If someone could just tell me what to eat for every meal, that would be great, because deciding what to eat and preparing it is the hardest part.
I ordered a soft pretzel at the airport today because it came with mini pickles! And I was so excited to be the stereotypical pregnant woman eating pickles.
@jlemons-2 I had a bagel with peanut butter almost every morning of my first tri last time around! Yum. Trying to stay away from the carbfest until the nausea really hits.
We get Blue Apron and Home Chef, purely because after DH comes home from work and I've had the baby (she's almost 1) all day, the last thing I want to do is actually figure out what to cook for dinner. We've recreated a few of the BA meals, and we make a conscious effort to select meals that are low carb, high protein, low sodium.
Since I only found out a week ago that I'm pregnant, I have been craving my summer beers (Pacifico, corona, Ballast Point California Kolsche as it's a local brewery), and all the tacos. Living in San Diego, you don't get more authentic Mexican food unless you're actually IN Mexico.
Last pregnancy, I *flame suit on* indulged in a mini mimosa once or twice a month, along with a sip or two a week of my DH beer. This time, I'm not craving any of that besides those three I mentioned above.
@justsuzie Yes to that TJ soyrizo. We used to buy it all the time. DH is always really snarky about this kind of product (non-meat things, you know the type, I'm sure), but he was totally won over by the soyrizo. So good.
Oh man... coming on here right before grocery shopping was probably a mistake! They say not to shop hungry, but I'm confident that's not possible right now. @jlemons-2 I've never used ginger syrup before but I am going to HAVE to try it now!! I usually love sweets, sour candy, all the treats but lately I want so much savory- giant sandwiches, spaghetti, lasagna, chili, stir fry... wowza. We recently tried the Thai Basil sauce from Kroger on some sauteed veggies, rice noodles and chicken and it was really good and pretty simple cooking.
I have a fridge full of fresh veggies and I can hardly stand to open it because everything smells like it is going bad to me. DH thinks I'm nuts. I'm usually such a fruit and veg muncher and it is so upsetting to me not to be able to eat them. Broccoli (one of my favorite foods) is just the worst thing ever in the whole world right now.
@brittabatwhite Produce and fresh cut grass were the worst for me during my first pregnancy. I would immediately gag or vomit every time I smelled either.
@brittabatwhite That's how my first pregnancy was. I was just coming off of working out, losing 20lbs, and eating super healthy and I was eating a ton of vegetables and fish and then bam none of that sounded good and I was nauseous everytime I tried to make them. Thankfully I was eventually able to overcome that!
Okay so here are some things that seem to be working for me currently: apple cinnamon instant oatmeal eggos with only butter grapefruit blueberries and walnuts lemon yogurt smoothies Just thought I'd share since I was having a hard time deciding what to eat, in case anyone else is in the same boat!
My mind is loving tacos my body is not, which makes me very sad. Tacos were my number 1 craving last pregnancy like a once or twice a week trip to Moe's. Has anyone had foods changing flavor for them? I recently before this pregnancy started loving raw onions on things now they taste way off to me.
Opinions on non-fish sushi rolls?? My friend said she wouldn't eat any vegetable rolls just because of the chance of a knife coming in contact with raw fish.
