I'm currently on the dairy free/no tomato diet, but I'd still like to see normal recipes for when I can go back to normal . And I will also post recipes with dairy and such.
My sister makes bomb chicken sandwiches with thin chicken coated in salt & vinegar potato chips & pan fried and the sauce for the sandwiches is French onion dip. Soooo good in the summer with tomato & lettuce on a hoagie roll!
I love one pot and easy cleanup meals. This one is full of flavor (even using less of the Tony 's). We like Savannah Brand sausage, but any andouille should do. I have used half and half in lieu of full cream and it is tasty. Bonus points that it can be frozen in ziploc bags and reheated later. https://www.number-2-pencil.com/2015/10/15/one-pot-cajun-chicken-and-sausage-alfredo/
@AllyTheKid it's a decent substitute but it's a lot sweeter than honey so you need to use less. Worth a shot so you don't have to totally avoid yummy dishes that include honey
If so, I'm already on that train then! Green smoothies and raw veggies and fruit for me here, and boiled eggs and nuts if my body is just REALLY craving protien. I will look amazing in wedding dress at any and all costs!
Anybody have a good, basic carrot cake recipe? That's my dad's favorite, and his birthday is tomorrow! The last one I made I found on pinterest, and it was just a bit too much I think.
So it's basically no dairy, legumes, alcohol, grains, sugar, or MSG. Basically just going back to eating whole non-processed foods. I eat pretty clean anyway.. main thing is giving up sugar. I've been back to my pre-pregnancy weight and fitting in my clothes since 3 weeks pp and literally have been eating candy and chocolate every single day (like a shit ton). Haha. I'm basically doing this not to lose weight, but to get back to a healthy obsession with food.
@fitlady21 I'm right there with you. Until I had to go non dairy I was eating all the junk since my weight was down. Now I just find junk that doesn't contain dairy .
@fitlady21 shutterbean.com this blogger did whole 30 a while ago and talked about it a bit. There's some good looking recipes on there and on her instagram. Also her photography is mesmerizing so maybe we can all be hypnotized into thinking no sugar is possible
I've been (pretty much) eating whole and unprocessed (Yay me!), but occasionally I will get a salad that has cheese on it, and I still drink my coffee with creamer in it, but considering those are the bulk of my no-no's, I think I'm doing pretty good and those really aren't going to hurt my diet any. I weighed somewhere between 145 and 150 last time I checked, and now that I'm on my diet/exercise plan and sticking to it, I'll weigh myself every other week or so. But my focus is more how I LOOK, and whether or not I'm fitting back into any of my smaller clothes!
Sorry for the wait...this is an old family recipe and I had to find the card for it...
Lemon Bread (makes 2 loaves)
12tbsp margarine
2c sugar
4 eggs
3c flour
2tsp baking powder
2tsp salt
1c milk
zest of 3 lemons
Cream butter & sugar. Add eggs. Add all dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add zest. Divide between 2 greased loaf pans & bake at 325 for 1 hour. Meanwhile, make glaze. Combine 2/3c sugar with juice of two lemons. When loaves come out of the oven, pour the glaze over the top & allow it to soak in.
FI is doing this green smoothie diet with me! Excellent! That makes it sooo much easier, I was still preparing him and the children delicious, bountiful meals full of goodies that I myself, couldn't enjoy. Now I don't have to be all fancy about dinner, since these kids would happily live off of chicken, macaroni, and broccoli if I'd let them.
@Kgridley27 Have you ever added poppy seeds to the bread? I plan to make that once we start transitioning back into having a little bit of processed foods, and I was considering adding some poppy seeds (not trying to vandalize an old family recipe!)
This is my favorite Cobb salad dressing recipe. I ate this religiously during pregnancy and it makes for an awesome summer meal. Just grill or roast up some chicken, hard boil some eggs, and add bacon or ham, blue cheese, avocado, and tomatoes, all to your liking.
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp Dijon
1 tsp Worcestershire
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
3 tbsp olive oil
Throw everything into a jar and shake, shake, shake! This was dinner last night and it occurred to me that it would be a great family meal with a toddler, too, since it's packed full of little bites of interesting things.
--whisk it all together into one great, tasty mess.
This makes enough sauce for 1 lb linguine. We eat it with chopped scallions, shredded poached chicken and shredded red cabbage mixed in. Sometimes I top the whole shebang with chopped peanuts for a crunchy texture. I love it warm or cold and it makes great leftovers. (@AllyTheKid, you could use about 2.5 tsp of agave to sub out the honey if you like. I'm willing to bet you could use a little maple syrup instead and it wouldn't throw it off that much).
@ladybug2821 I must know, how did you like the carnitas??
Sorry, I was so busy over the weekend. I really like it. It is totally different than how I've made carnitas in the past, but I like how you get the lime at the end. It would be so good if I could actually eat it with sour cream and cheese. I actually have some for lunch today . H hasn't tried it yet but I think he will like it because he likes spicy stuff and more authentic Mexican dishes.
@kgridley27 is that Thai? It has certainly peaked my curiosity!
@ladybug2821 I almost forgot you're dairy-free right now... The carnitas make great taco salads on top of shredded romain lettuce with guacamole! I know it doesn't replace the cheese and sour cream, but it adds a little more something
Re: Recipes!
Ok ladies, any allergies/absolute hates we should know about?
@AllyTheKid ok with agave, though?
I'm not a fan of pork chops or ham but that's about it. Oh, and liver blahhh.
This is a quick and easy one, but it is so good.
French Onion Ground Beef Sandwiches
Ground beef
Shredded cheese
French Onion Soup Mix
1/4 cup water
Hoagies rolls
1. Brown ground beef to your liking.
2. Add French Onion Mix and water, mix in.
3. Add as much cheese as you'd like while still hot, so it gets nice and melty.
4. That's it, just put on your hoagie roll and eat!
I really wish I could eat this tonight!

When it doubt, get Betty out!

This is a great candidate for a Whole30 diet
Another easy recipe...Pulled Buffalo Chicken
Chicken Breast, I normally just do 2 large breasts but you can adjust how many you'd like along with how long you'll cook
Buffalo sauce
packet of ranch powder (that you use to make dip)
Put chicken in crock pot, cook on high for 2.5 hrs, when finished used 2 forks to pull chicken apart.
Pour in buffalo sauce and as much ranch as you want and mix together.
Cook for 30 mins on low, then all done!
This one is super easy and tastes really good. You can also do this and make pulled BBQ chicken instead.

Peanut-sesame sauce:
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ c creamy peanut butter
4 tbsp red wine vinegar

2-4 tsp tabasco, to taste
4 tsp honey
2 tbsp water
