Re: PGAL Weekly Check-in 4/11-4/17

  • 1. How far along are you today?

    8 weeks 3 days

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?

Our baby stopped growing at 8 weeks 5 days last time- but I didn't know for weeks. needless to say, this week has been REALLY hard emotionally. I'm so scared of it happening again. What if it's another missed MC? I can't go through that again. It will break me.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?

Today is hard emotionally. I just want my first OB appt to get here and be done. Its on Monday. although I am scared to death for it bc that is when we found out about the loss last time. Had 2 great sonos leading up to it, and BAM!

    4. How is your SO handling everything?

He is great. Super positive. Really really wonderful.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?

    Lately- neither! hahah
I am so dang tired all the time! Before pregnancy and my son though I was honestly a good mix of both. I could do late nights but didn't mind early mornings (just not AFTER the late nights!)
  • 1. How far along are you today?

    10 + 1

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?

    Early miscarriage/ CP August 2016 @ 4+2
Ectopic confirmed via blood work and ultrasound September 2016 @5-6 weeks

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?

Today I'm extremely tired. We had a tornado warning last night so right as I was falling asleep DH woke me up and said we needed to go downstairs. Then after the warning expired a severe thunder storm rolled in around 3am and woke up DD.

Successes- I was able to eat half a turkey burger for dinner last night. This is a big accomplishment for me seeing as I haven't been able to eat meat for the last three weeks without throwing up

    4. How is your SO handling everything?

DH is awesome. His parents are flying in tomorrow so I have been slowly getting the house ready. He saw how tired I was just after vacuuming two small bedrooms so he vacuumed the rest of the house and shampooer the carpets for me after he spent all afternoon working in the yard.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?

Before kids I want to say a night person but since DD is a morning person that quickly changed.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    8+1

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
My last loss was a missed miscarriage (baby stopped growing at 6.5 weeks, we found out at about 8.5 weeks). To me, we won't be past the milestone until we see a healthy u/s, which will hopefully happen next week at my first appointment. @JDW0325 I feel similar to how you feel...I'm excited for the appointment but I'm also scared. I don't know how I would deal with another missed miscarriage.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm feeling pretty good. My symptoms have eased up a little over the last few days, but they are still there enough that I'm not too worried.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's been very positive. Although I do get nervous at times, he and I both believe it will work out this time.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Definitely a night person, although right now I'm ready to go to sleep at 9:00 every night!

  • @JDW0325 Hugs girl, try not to stress too much (haha, I know), Monday will be here before you know it!

    1. How far along are you today?
    6+5

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
As of yesterday this baby is bigger than last pregnancy. Last time the baby never measured past 6+3 even though it still had a heartbeat at 10W (loss at 11W). Yesterday baby measured 6+6 at 6+4days!

I found out yesterday that I have a bicornuate uterus, which nobody freaking mentioned last year during my million ultrasounds! So, this means I am high risk for miscarriages, pre term birth, and will most likely have to have a c-section. Also, nobody told me last year I needed to have a RhoGAM shot because of my A- blood type. I'm feeling like I was pretty neglected with my care last year by those doctors. I am scheduled to have one this Friday.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm feeling more optimistic today after yesterdays appt even though we now know I have a jacked up uterus.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He is really nervous, but he is so calm and optimistic, he really keeps me grounded.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Used to be either, but as I have gotten older I would say morning.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
This one is up for debate apparently. Baby measured 8+4 yesterday.

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
NMC at 7w6d in January. Passed that milestone!

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Feeling pretty good physically and mentally today. Having some anxiety over the number of appointments we scheduled yesterday since I have to run out of work a little early and I'm a teacher.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He has stepped up his game lately. He started reading some of the man-friendly pregnancy books I got him and often clicks the link I gave him to the YourDueDate site to see what's going on inside me.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I am not a night person. I typically get tired by 9 pm. I am good with getting up in the morning, but prefer the sun to be up before me. That rarely happens.

  • 1. How far along are you today? 7w5d

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
CP at 4.5 weeks in December 2016, passed milestone a few weeks ago

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Today, I feel pretty good physically and for the most part good mentally/emotionally. Nausea mostly sticks to the evenings (threw up at dinner last night at the Cheesecake Factory--lovely), but it has tarted to creep in during the day. Biggest bummer is having a general feeling of blah about eating food. So I have no appetite whatsoever.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He has started becoming more and more excited. We have our first ultrasound today, so I am hoping so much that all goes well. He wanted to drive together (we work at the same place) so it's kind of cute he wanted to carpool (normally we keep separate schedules and drive separate).

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Ugh...I feel like this has changed in the past few weeks. Normally, I am a night owl and stay up until midnight and I am very productive. But I can't stay up until past 10pm right now. And with my sleep issues, I have been waking up very early (like 4:30am), so I have come into work early as well (about 6am) since I am up. So at the moment, I am a begrudgingly a morning person.
  • @dragonfly87 Good luck at your appointment today. So exciting!! Hope your MS goes away soon.

  • @dragonfly87 Good luck today! I'll be sending good thoughts your way!

@ktcakes87 That absolutely sounds like negligent care last year! I'm sorry for all the stress and fear. At least they found it this time and can monitor you. Regarding the Rhogam, it's very very very unlikely that you became Rh sensitized last time, but if it would give you peace of mind, you can request that they test you for Rh sensitization. It's just a simple blood draw. I had to do that last year between losses because I thought my bloodtype was A+ during my first loss, but it turned out I was O- at my second pregnancy.

@NYTino24 Yay for passing milestones! Hopefully you can get a final EDD soon!

@JDW0325 Hugs for all the anxiety. It's totally understandable, but FX for your appointment next week!

    yes good luck!!

    @ktcakes87
rooting for you SO HARD girl! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is as uneventful as can be!

    @NYTino24
I read on another thread about your appointment. So glad it went well! Now, they just need to pick a due date for you! :)

    @emucoleman
I'm sorry you can relate to how I am feeling. Hopefully next week we can  report back that we are both super happy and positive after our appointments!!

    @MKMandeville
I can't eat meat either! I barely did before pregnancy but now it disgusts me!!

    edit- words are hard apparently.
  • 1. 9 weeks by LMP, 8+5 by O! By LMP, baby is officially a fetus!

    2. MC#1 at 7 wks in Dec 15. MC#2 in Apr 16 at 10 wks, but it was anembryonic and the gestational sac never grew past 6+6.

    3. Anxiety was sky high yesterday. I spent the morning crying for an hour over something that was frustrating. I'm doing great today because we had a second US yesterday and baby was measuring on track with a HB of 178!!! So thrilled! H could tell sooner than I could yesterday that everything was OK. The tech pointed out the head, developing brain, heart and limbs. Amazing to see so much growth in 2 weeks! And I'm now officially farther than I've ever been before! I'm still anxious, but I'm starting to feel like this may actually happen for us this time! We have our first OB appointment next Monday, and I'm hoping they can at least do a Doppler check. Then it will be a long 4-week wait until my next appointment, unless we can get our NT scheduled in between.

I think we'll start telling our friends who know about our losses sometime this week. That makes me nervous, but I keep reminding myself that if we'd tell them about another loss, it be great to let them share our happiness. Frankly though, the thought that our friends will be happier for us than I can let myself be happy is a little hurtful. H tried to convince me to tell friends over the weekend, and that's why I resisted. It's a hard feeling to explain that I'm afraid of people being happy for us - it's just that seeing that much happiness is like rubbing salt in a wound because it's a stark contrast with my fear and grief over the last losses. H is happy to wait as long as I need, but I don't think he 100% understands my feelings.

    4. He's doing well. He started crying a little yesterday at the US. He also wore a shirt that is a little inside joke between us, and he considers it our US good luck charm. He's been picking up the slack around the house, and I love him for it.

    5. Neither! Lol. In college I was a night person - I'd start writing papers at midnight sometimes. Now? I'm exhausted by 9 PM, sleep like crap because of vivid dreams, and can't drag myself out of bed before 7.
  • @RiverSong15 That's a great heart rate!! I know your friends will be so happy for you! Don't waste a minute celebrating if you feel comfortable.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
     10 weeks tomorrow!

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?

Like others, I'm coming up on a milestone. I lost my last one at 10 weeks and didn't know until I got into the 12 week appt with my high risk doc. All the sighing the poor tech did...I'm on that exact schedule now and will be with Maternal and Fetal Health on my birthday! Gah. I pray for good news. Tomorrow is also stopping the progesterone...I don't know if I will do it for longer or not.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?

Man, the woman I cut and pasted this from is living my life right now! We aren't alone. Today I have been frustrated that I can't just be straight up excited. Why can't I just be bubbly about it and confident? I knew these next weeks would be hard. Physically I don't feel as sick as I have been, which is nice.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?

He's good. I think he's stressed about having another kid at our ages and what that means for retirement, etc. But he wanted two! And I had no idea what I wanted, after being so focused on just wanting that first one. Our DD is great and won't stop for one minute. I just want her to have a healthy happy sib and they can live happily ever after together.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?

Definitely a morning person, but between not sleeping well (long term probs) and an active baby who doesn't like to go to bed anymore and is waking up earlier and earlier, I just can't get enough sleep. Thank God for these nice days to get out and walk at least.

  • Looks like lots of the ladies here are coming up on milestones - I'll be thinking about you all!

    1. How far along are you today? 10 weeks 5 days

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones? MC at 6.5 weeks in Oct16

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes? physically feeling ok today, a ltitle nauseous and tired but not one of my worst days thankfully. Emotionally, not really sure. I keep telling myself that things are ok but each day I get more anxious. Can't wait for my next appt

    4. How is your SO handling everything?  really well, he's good at taking care of me and things around the house, specially on my bad days where nauseous kicks my butt. Hes started touching and talking to my belly some, and every morning when I leave for work he says goodbye to me and to 'bean'. Hes adorable

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
used to be more of a morning person but since I haven't been sleeping well at night, ive been struggling with getting up early lately
  • 1. How far along are you today?
    7 weeks

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
MC at 6 weeks in November 2015.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I am tired today. I started struggling with morning sickness last week, which is something I've never experienced in previous pregnancies. I found out that my family doctor won't refer me for a dating ultrasound because of my hcg numbers, which left me a bit bummed. However, I was referred to an OBGYN for the remainder of my maternity care, so I hope they will allow an early ultrasound.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
    He's great.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Normally, I'm a night person, but I'm growing into a morning person since I fall sleep early now.
  • 1. How far along are you today?
    7+5

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
Last loss was a CP and lost it at 5+5. Passed that milestone and got to see a heartbeat last Tuesday on this baby!

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm feeling okay. Nausea hit towards the end of last week, so that has been somewhat tough. I had no symptoms besides cramping prior to the nausea and was complaining to my husband that it would be nice to have a reminder that I'm pregnant....well I got the reminder now and kind of regretting it! It is relieving to know I'm pregnant still though. I wish I could have a daily ultrasound to calm my nervous mind though.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's doing so much better than I am. He just keeps trying to be positive and I don't know about you all, but sometimes I want to just yell at him and tell him not everything turns out all right and that he doesn't know if it will all work out! Oh well.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I always used to be a major night person, but now I'm getting so tired around 9:30ish. I think my days of falling asleep at 1:30am and waking up at 9:30 are over

It's been nice reading everyone else's posts and seeing people are kind of in the same boat. I'll be thinking of all of you and hoping this baby is the rainbow baby we all are hoping for!
  • 1. How far along are you today?

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
At 22w6d I had a placental abruption with our daughter. 30w4d I had another with DS, thankfully he was far enough along to survive.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Pretty good! I had an appointment this morning and saw the little peanut so that reassurance that everything is going well! I've also been pretty consistent with being able to find the heartbeat with my doppler when I use it every few days or so, which is comforting.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
Pretty good. He's still nervous, I am too. I don't think either of us will really relax until I get past 24 weeks, and even then, probably not until I'm like 36 weeks if I (hopefully) make it that far.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Lately I'm definitely neither haha. Normally, I'm a night owl. But with this pregnancy I've been so nauseous and exhausted at night that I've been wanting to go to bed at 9:30 or 10. And mornings suck as much as always :sleepy:

Every cramp has me nervous. When symptoms change or dissappear I fight not to panic. We lost our last pregnancy 2 years ago at nearly you weeks, so we've passed that. I thought it would make me less nervous but it didn't.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I'm having the hardest time eating! I'm trying to work through it and be excited at the same time. I swore when I got pregnant again I wouldn't complain because I would just be so happy but honestly, I feel like shit !

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
    He's ever the optimist ❤

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    10+1

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
Molar pregnancy discovered 5/15 @ 12 weeks, growth had stopped in week 10. CP late Sept '16.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
This week is really hard. I've been trying not to think about it, but this is the week our baby stopped growing 2 years ago. We didn't find out for another couple of weeks, so at least I have a scan on Monday. With a new doctor (yay!). What's really bizarre is that two years ago, our dog at the time was losing most mobility. My H was having to carry around a 90 lb bulldog up and down the stairs and we eventually made the decision to put him down since he couldn't walk on his own and we had tried surgery, hydrotherapy, laser treatments, allllll the medications, etc and had nothing left to try. We found out that same week that we lost the baby. Now, our dog that we've had for not even two years (she was our little grief baby, replacing both our baby and our beloved dog) is having a back leg issue and needs to be carried here and there and lifted up on the bed, etc. The parallels are just really messing with my head.  All the loss announcements lately have been tough, too.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He is pretty good. He doesn't really understand or try to understand what I'm going through that hard, so it does feel a bit lonely at times. He doesn't know how to help, so he's always just trying to push me to take another one of these medications on the list of stuff that could potentially help, lol. He's been so amazingly helpful and great in every other way, though.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
I'm usually a night person, but these days, if I'm not in bed by 7:30pm, I have no hope of making it the next morning. It's been rough.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    8 weeks, 3 days

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
Lost my first pregnancy in January at 11 weeks.  Baby had stopped growing around 8 weeks.

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
I have had some non-pregnancy related stresses today, so it hasn't been great.  We also have our first appointment tomorrow, which I am excited about but also nervous for.  Like several others, this week is a milestone week for me.  I'm trying hard to stay relaxed and positive.

I also have a nagging cold...last night I was having terrible ear pain and was sure I would have to get some antibiotics (which was stressing me out since I am trying hard not to take meds right now!)  It was much better this morning though.

I am happy for everyone here who has gotten past their milestones! @dragonfly87 I hope your appointment went well today!

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He is handling it well and being supportive.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Definitely a night person!  I sleep until the last possible minute every morning.  I am not looking forward to tomorrow morning because I have to wash my hair.  Haha.

I don't know if anyone else watches DWTS, but last night they had a "memorable year" theme.  Nancy Kerrigan told a story about her journey to motherhood and talked about her multiple miscarriages, as well as using IVF to become pregnant.  She talked about how when her son was born, although she felt joy, her primary emotion was relief that he was here and ok.  I felt like I could relate to that so closely with all of the fears that come with PGAL.  It was the first time I had heard someone well-known talk about losses so candidly and honestly.  Needless to say, I was in tears by the end of her story.

  • @liz4382 I watched last night! Although it's sad, it's good to hear people be open about these things...so many of us go through it. I definitely cried too.

@ktcakes87 I also have a bicornuate uterus that was missed until my first csection (ds was breech) and am rh- Hopefully the care that you are getting now is better!

    1. 8weeks 5days

    2.  I lost my 4th pregnancy at 7.5 weeks, baby stopped growing at 5

    3. I'm trying to feel optimistic, like there is a good chance that we will be bringing home a baby in November, but all of the mm can stories after 8 weeks are making me nervous.

I keep reminding myself that we saw the baby last week and everything looked on track and it had a great heartbeat.

    4. He is awesome, especially when it comes to taking car of our kids and cleaning up my puke

    5. NIGHT! Mostly because that is my only alone time for the day.

@liz4382 Good luck with your appointment. I knew about several celebs who had publicized losses and reading about more actually made me realize what a tough process it is. No matter how much money, fame, or even medical care you have... some of it is out of your control. I realized there isn't anything I can do, so it helps a little with my anxiety. Here is one of the articles I read.

  • I am totally new here so still trying to figure everything out but I have felt so much better reading all your posts and knowing I'm not alone I thought I  would share my story.

    1. I am 7 weeks and 5 days today. (These first few weeks have dragged on forever it seems like)

     2.  My ttc journey only started last year.   I had an early miscarriage at 4 wks 4 days in April 16.  In November I had a mmc at 12 week appt (baby stopped growing at 11w2d) and had a d&c on 11/22.  And now here I am again.  My 12 week appointment this time will be around the due date of the last one so needless to say I am anxious.   My first appt is Friday but Im not sure I will feel better until my 12 week appointment and probably not even completely then.

    3.  Today I am feeling anxious.  The closer I get to the appointment the more anxious I get.   I have felt really nauseous today so that distracts me somewhat.  My success today is just that I am still pregnant and so it is another day where I am ok.

    4.  My dh is great.   He is super positive and reassuring.  He has been through a lot of tough stuff in his life so he is much better at dealing with things.  He helps keep me somewhat grounded. I am so thankful.

    5.  I am a morning person usually but right now neither is working for me because of my nausea.   I am usually puking in the morning and in bed early because Im up so early getting sick.

Hoping and praying for the best for all of us.  I am so glad there are places like this to go for support.

@TheLovingWife Both being rh- and having a bicornuate uterus are pretty rare, so weird we both have/are both!

I started bleeding again yesterday, this time more than all the other times combined. I'm scheduled for a RhoGAM shot today and seeing a different midwife. They may do an ultrasound. This whole situation effing sucks.

  • @ktcakes87 Good luck but I am so glad this is getting taken care of and you are getting the attention you need.

    Welcome @angkay711!

@NYTino24 thank you for sharing the article- I am so happy that those celebrities came forward to speak about losses. It shouldn't be something that is so hidden. In particular, I related to Sofia Loren who said that the dr made her feel barren- my dr is great, but I def felt that way post losses.

    1. How far along are you today?
7 weeks 2 days (I think) I can't figure out how to create a ticker in the bump but not share it.

    2. Share any part of your loss history you feel comfortable sharing.  What are your loss milestones?
4 weeks & 5 weeks in Jan and Feb

    3. How are you feeling today?  Struggles?  Successes?
Made it past loss milestones and saw a heartbeat last week at 6 weeks 4 days (or 5 days). That was exciting but I am not as relieved as I thought I would be. My next u/s is next week Thurs (4/20) and if all looks good I get to graduate from RE who has been monitoring me. This is great news because I love my OB practice and I miss them.

My ms has been strong but today I feel better (which is great) but of course nerve wracking nonetheless. I;ve been really enjoying the posts- sometimes i feel like such a lurker hahhaa! I need to be a bit bolder and join in the convos. It helps so much w my anxiety.

    4. How is your SO handling everything?
He's awesome as usual. We are in the midst of the most stressful househunt and he's been such a rock.

    5. GTKY: Are you a morning or night person?
Hands down, morning person. I love waking up at 5 am, enjoying the morning while the sky is still dark. Pre m/s that was my bump time with coffee before everyone woke up :)

  • @ktcakes87 I'm sorry you're going through this awful experience. Good luck today! Keep us posted.

@rms924 To add the ticker to your signature: Go to the top right of the page and click "Account Options" (the little person). On the left click "Signature Settings." At the top right of the signature box click the button that looks like this: </> Then copy and paste the ticker code you got when you created the ticker. (It's confusing, I had to re-figure it out when I got back on TB this time!)

  • *tw* so the past week or two I've been spotting a bit of brown pretty much constantly. Nothing to worry about really. But right before lunch today I went to the bathroom and there was pink instead of brown. And nearly every time I've wiped it's been pink or reddish. Watery but still. I'm freaked. Of course I'm gassy and can't for sure say I'm not cramping but I have had some weird sudden twinges that almost feel like a kick much later in pregnancy. I just so hope that this is just a quick fluke and nothing bad happens. I found the heartbeat on my doppler this afternoon, but it was only slightly comforting. :disappointed:

  • @elsieisamoocow A heartbeat is VERY comforting!  Call your OB if you're worried, but I'm sure everything is fine.  That kind of spotting sounds totally normal. But I also know how scary it can be to see, so definitely call your doc for reassurance.  I didn't tell you guys, but I had a scare Friday with full out bright red bleeding, and my new OB got me in right away and we were able to see a heartbeat and even our little frogger kicking around in there.  So reassuring.  She tested my progesterone just in case (I'll get those results today).  But basically, she thinks my cervix is just being super sensitive because it started bleeding when she poked it so she directed me to just take it suuuuuper easy.  Maybe try taking life down a notch and take it as easy as you can for a bit?  Good luck!

@NYTino24 @liz4382 @SweetMelissa4 Thanks ladies! No bleeding overnight and in the hour since I've been up there hasn't been any either. Hopefully it's done. I was planning to call my OB today if it didn't stop but I'll wait now provided I can hear the heartbeat on the doppler again. Can we fast forward for at least the next 20ish weeks please?

Edit: spoke too soon. I'll call my doc in a few minutes...
