I had two painful contractions last night that were a healthy reminder of my preference for an epidural. I can't remember when this started with my DD, but I was having one big contraction that would wake me every night for quite a while before she was born. So glad it's happening again.
Oh also it's warm here today and I'm wearing a dress for the first time this pregnancy. I'm sitting in my office chair leaned over towards my laptop and my bump is getting sweaty from resting on my legs.
I have allergies or something and the congestion and mouth breathing suck. It makes me so thirsty and then I have to pee so much. It's not a fun cycle.
Pelvic pain at night and after long walks is unreal. I've started using an ice pack which DH thinks is funny. Actually I think it's funny, too, but helps.
I'm still trying to figure out Braxton Hicks. I sometimes get a hard tight feeling but its only in like one section of my bump, not the whole thing. I think its either braxton hicks or baby's head/body up against that area. They don't hurt (a little pain if I push on it) just really hard compared to the normal squishy bump. Any ideas what this is?
Who here has dealt with lower than desired fluid levels? I had an u/s and appt with a doctor on Friday and she told me my levels were at 9ish, but I should be at 12 or so. They are having me come back tomorrow for another u/s and follow up with another doctor. The doctor I saw last week mentioned bed rest, but I'm not sure what to expect.
While we're on this topic of Braxton hicks.... yesterday I was having back cramping (which is where my period cramps always are). I would have waves of 10-20 seconds of back cramping followed by a strip across my stomach tightening for 10-20 seconds. I tried to time them, but it came on gradually and ended pretty gradually so it was difficult to time. I'm very happy it went away, but does it sounds like preterm labor?

I had to stop my afternoon/evening walks because the pelvic pain got so bad. Can't wait to get this baby out and return to exercising without issue!
@JAGinMI try a dose of milk of magnesia. That will clear you out and then continue to take stool softeners. That's the only thing that helped me and continues to help me. I got internal sutures even though my little one was small she did some damage on the way out. The stool softeners have been a blessing.
@JAGinMI I think I have given this advice before but - eat prunes! I eat a couple with every meal if I have problems and they help tremendously. AFM, I just have constant cotton mouth now. And insomnia.

@kyreno11 that sounds like contractions and not so much like braxton hicks. BH dont typically wrap around the back, feel like waves, or are timeable. Maybe up your water intake and mention to OB?

It might be Braxton Hicks. My back gets tight at times and then most of my labor pains were in my back 1st time around. It just depends on how unbearable they are. I would definitely ask your doctor.
I have been having pain in my vajajay area. I laughed to myself and thought this kid is literally a pain in my vagina. I don't remember this from my first pregnancy.
Y'all the pains are really getting me this week. Sciatica is in FULL force. My ankles feel so weak and tired that I feel like they might just give out and I'll collapse. Vagina pressure pain like crazy. Growing pains. I am so uncomfortable. Baby girl is over 4 lbs already. Counting down the days till May 30 section date ... I definitely wasn't this uncomfortable with my first pregnancy. Maybe it's cause I'm now chasing after an active 17 month old but by the end of the day I can barely walk :-( ok vent over ...
@huzzahuzza what brand lavender oil do you use? That sounds awesome!
Finally had good weather here YAY (70s) but forgot how much I swell. Could barely get my shoes back on at work haha. Generally I'm a little moody though since I fell down the stairs this weekend (luckily only 6) and bruised my tailbone, been also struggling with pelvic girdle pain. On a brighter note, in a month I'll start working remotely in PJs. I can see the finish line!!
I'm so huge and they are taking up so much damn space, my hips are now popping when I get up to pee in the middle of the night. At about 3.5-4lbs each, I'm not sure how the hell Im going to walk in a month, my hips will just give up
Heartburn isn't as bad this week, thankfully both babies went head down so I have a bit more room. BUT I have to force myself to eat, which is so not typical for me during third trimester with my other kids.
Also. Colostrum leaking and making my nipples stick to my bra, just fabulous.
Horrible... horrible Charlie horses in my calves. And add me to the restless legs at night, I'm constantly flipping over and waking myself up when I'm trying to sleep. I'm so not having another kid... pregnancy is overrated.
I had what reminded me of letdown pain in my right boob yesterday. Sure enough, when I took off my bra, there was colostrum crusted in there. Oh the joys!
@helloaustin123 I use doterra because I was added to a BOGO group on Facebook. I dont know if they're better but they're certainly expensive! This is my first dabble in oils
Can I just b*tch about how much my nipples hurt. I'm pumping every 2-3 hours and pretty much the highest setting both the hospital pump and my home pump have. I'm using nipple cream but dam these suckers hurt by the end of the day. Anyone else have internal sutures from a previous birth? Mine are still sore a week post partum. Hopefully that passes soon.
Holy crap @Wearmi1 i I can't imagine pumping on the highest setting! I didn't even go halfway with my PISA. Is there a reason you are using such a strong suction?
@ladylolly89 I'm pumping on the highest settings to try and completely empty out my boobs every time so that my volume goes up. My little one is eating 30ml right now per feeding every 3 hours. So I feel lots of pressure to be able to provide milk for her. I've had some really down days feeling horribly guilty for being at home while she's in the hospital. My first night home I was inconsolable... I cried and cried because I felt like I'd abandoned my baby at the hospital and I shouldn't be home without her. I'm doing everything I can to feel like I'm her mommy and providing for her. I went out and bought her all her own preemie clothes to wear at the hospital because I needed her to have her own things and not wear the hospitals baby clothes. I bring them home and wash them and take them back. I do her tempature and diaper changes while I'm at the hospital. They're teaching me to bathe her. It's a daily struggle emotionally to have a preemie in the hospital and deal with the guilt I feel about her being there.
@Wearmi1 I had the most success completely emptying by massaging my boobs while I pumped vs highest setting. Maybe that can save your nipples a bit?
I can't imagine what you're going through when you have to leave her but you are doing everything you possibly can to provide for her. That coupled with the shift in hormones cannot be easy. I am so sorry this is so hard. Hugs.
@Mother0fDragons and @swanbrooner thanks ladies. I haven't really been talking to anyone about my mommy guilt other than my husband. He keeps me on an even keel for the most part. He reminds me I'm a great mommy and doing everything I can to care for my little proncess. I know it's just my hormones that are all wonky and making me feel so weepy and sad.
@Wearmi1 I've had internal sutures twice, same spot both times. Biggest thing that helped was rinsing with a peri bottle filled with a herbal sits blend, and making sure I kept my legs together all the time. No sitting cross legged, keep the knees together as much as you can.
Huge hugs for your nipple pain.... have you had the flange size checked?? Maybe a different size would be helpful?
Big hugs @Wearmi1. I can't even imagine how hard that has to be. I second @MotherofDragons suggestion about massaging your breasts while you pump. I found that helped my output quite a bit.
@Wearmi1 Gotcha! I have to second what the other ladies are saying though; higher setting doesn't necessarily equal higher output/emptying. Massage+warmth while pumping is more likely to empty them out better (and way more comfortably). I totally understand the mommy guilt, but you are doing such a wonderful job! Adeline is so blessed to have you as her mama.
@Wearmi1, I agree about the massaging and warmth. Also, did they fit your flanges? Maybe the flanges are too small or too large.
You're doing such a great job. I'm sure this entire situation isn't how you pictured Adeline's birth playing out, but you're all doing awesome under the circumstances. Hang in there.

I'm so over this insomnia. I'm over the back pain, pelvic pain, hip pain. I'm just a ball of flaming sunshine today.

I still don't know if I've had tbem of it it's just baby pushing out though.

@kyreno11 they sound like real contractions to me too. If they're happening frequently then I would definitely talk to your OB.
edited: it's Monday you know how that goes

the discharge! It's gross! Wasn't like this with my first, or I blocked out the memory.
