I feel like I'm pretty much MIA around here anymore. I still read but I don't have the time to post as much as I used to...Most days I'm just here to give out all the love tits!
I know there are some STMS on here who have children from previous relationships/marriages. Can someone PLEASE tell me that co-parenting gets easier with time? Most days I feel like I am dealing with a deranged lunatic & I have to fill the roles of both mom and dad for my son. It's exhausting!
Anyone else's LO try to climb out of the tub during bath time? Lol. Apparently that is going to be C's new thing now that he's outgrown the infant tub & can pull himself up on the sides of my big bathtub. Scares the heck out of me because I'm always worried he's going to slip and smack his face
We have a couple sit to stand things. We have the vtech walker that everyone seems to have, the fisher Price zebra walker, and a vtech cube that has 5 sides for them to play on. Anything they can climb on is instantly their most favorite toy.
@jjtruffles We had our first injury when Beck tried to stand up while I was saving Ruby from going underwater. He smacked his mouth and his bottom teeth cut his upper gums a little and he was totally fine. Nothing huge, but the blood scared the crap out of me.
@jjtruffles No experience here regarding co-parenting. I can't even imagine how hard that is, but sending positive thoughts your way.
Have any you left LO overnight? My MIL keeps bugging me to leave baby J at her place. I just don't think I'm ready, but I don't know if I'm just missing out on an opportunity to sleep.
@babycakesday Nope, and I'm so far from ready for that! I feel like I'll never be ready, haha. Though a full night of sleep would probably be amazing...

@jjtruffles DS just started standing in the tub. We have a bath mat down which helps from too much slipping. I usually just set him back on his bum and tell him we have to sit in tubbies. It doesn't work but someday I'd like to think it will haha.
@babycakesday I just slept my first night with DS not in the same room with me. Give me about 10 years and I'll let him sleep over somewhere lol.
Thank you ladies for your input on baby toys! There are so many options it's overwhelming. Those activity blocks are nice! I hadn't looked into those before.
Having trouble attaching pics right now but we just got over standing in tub issues (still comes up every once in a while). I got those gear bath toys. I think Boon makes them?? THey're at BRU and target, they were backordered on amazon. Anyway...they suction to the side of the tub so I put them low enough to keep her attention low so she would HAVE to sit to play with them. It worked instantly
Was talking to my husband about Elijah standing in the tub cuz he gave a bath on Saturday. What he did was genius- he let Elijah stand and cleaned his lower half of the body before sitting Elijah down. Omg I didn't know there was another option besides freaking out and sitting Elijah back down immediately.
@jjtruffles I'm sorry to hear about the co-parenting separately issues. I can only imagine. It can sometimes be hard enough getting on the same page under the same roof. I hope things get easier and more routine for all of you!!!
It's probably nothing to worry about, but does anyone else have a baby who totally ignores you when you say their name? It's almost like he does it purposefully, because he responds to other things, but specifically when I say his name repeatedly he will not look at me at all. Usually it's when he's after something he shouldn't have or if he has managed to get something in his mouth and I need him to turn his face so I can get at it, so maybe it's just that he's too focused on what he wants to pay attention to me, but I just thing it's odd that he blocks me out like that. Today he even started to ignore me when I would say no-no, which usually would make him pause and look at me at least for a second. I think I'm just extra paranoid about this sort of thing because DH has a brother with autism and it kind of runs on his side of the family, so these social benchmark things just really stick out to me!

@winnie1122 Baby J does this. Sometimes we even catch her trying not smile while she ignores us. I didn't even think of it as a potential problem just her trying to get away with doing whatever she's doing.
I had my oldest in college with someone that is not my husband (M's dad). Co parenting is never easy. Ever. I'd love to tell you that it is, but I can't. What I can tell you, is that it gets easier after a while. The initial 2 years were certainly the ugliest (perhaps because the break up was still fresh?) but now we are in a groove and 97% of the time it's just fine. Parenting itself it difficult, so when its decision time with someone that you don't have to find a compromise with and potentially don't like, it can get complicated. Or when things can be done there that aren't allowed at your place etc etc.
Try to stay as cordial as possible, keep communication very clear, and keep things very black and white and specific. The less room for interpretation and misunderstandings the better.
M stands in the tub all the time. I just keep a hand on or very near her. When she tries to walk in the tub is when I redirect her or have her sit, but we allow her to stand. I'm already starting to feel like all we tell her is "no this, no that" so I'm trying to be more aware and pick our battles a bit.
We have left M twice over night. Both were in the first 3 months. Sooooo much pumping. Ugh. Lol. My best friend had an adult only reception out of town at a very swanky speak easy kind of place. The other time, was for the Marine Corps Ball.
The first time was the hardest (she was 6 weeks old) but the other time was ok. I was up for grabbing breakfast before we headed home the second time, but midway through breakfast I was very ready to get back. We haven't left her overnight since, we haven't had a reason to need to. But my dad has been asking since she was born when he can keep her for several days (he lives 3 hours away and doesn't get to see her much) so when she's done nursing I'll let him.
It'll be hard and I'll miss her (I still miss her 10 year old big sister when she's gone!) but it's good for the babies to be away from us for a bit and it's good for us too. Even if all you do is sleep, take a long shower, and binge watch Netflix. Girl, treat yo' self. hahahaha @babycakesday
I have a two-night away thing this Friday actually. My first one!!! I leave Friday afternoon and I'll be home Sunday morning. I'm incredibly nervous but I'm sure we'll all survive. She'll be with my husband the whole time. I think it's a lot like the fear I had before going back to work - it's hard to imagine anyone else being capable of doing my job for that time. But I do agree it's good for them! It'll be a great Ike for her and my husband to hang out and bond. Luckily the weather is good this weekend so I suggested he take her to the zoo, park, do some walks. Keep her going! She probably won't even know I'm gone, lol.
Confession. My husband is out with friends. I just have to go to the bathroom. Elise got into the bin full of toilet paper. There's toilet paper rolls all over the floor. She's eating toilet paper. Ripping it into pieces. I don't even care right now.

This is essentially how I go to the bathroom, shower, and get ready daily. I just assumed it was normal. Haaaaa
@shaylalr Oh I've about given up trying with the random 'floor snacks' P finds. I realized how far I've fallen when he was at my feet while I was making dinner and he was eating cookie crumbs off the floor and dragging a green bean around with him that I'd given him to suck on earlier.

Elijah has been soooooo itchy the past few days and I don't know why. No new foods, no new soaps or laundry detergents. Maybe the weather change? Poor baby!
@babycakesday, we haven't left C overnight yet, my timing is a year, when SIDS risk is essentially gone, and C is eating some solid foods and can have regular milk. Also since she would probably be with either sets of grandparents, they will have to prove they can use her car seat which right now they cannot (cant wait to upgrade to a convertible one), probably because the straps get easily twisted, etc. (never buy a Cybex, ever, they look nice and built like a tank, but NEVER again).
@kburg15 Ahh!!! I used to get so excited for potential work trips - I hear you, not anymore. Any chance your husband and LO can go with you? I have a work conference in August for 4 days, and I'm bringing the crew!
@TiffRox81 enjoy your weekend away! L will be just fine
Does anyone else's baby poop an insane amount of times during the night/day? I seriously lose track of how many times this girl poops. It wakes her up overnight too. Pedi didn't have advice or anything. I've tried feeding her more constipating foods, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I would say on average, she's filling her diaper 3x overnight and 5-7x during the day. Wet diapers are still normal, it's just so. Much. Poop.
Yeah, I'm still on the fence. My MIL gave us a night away at a hotel for my birthday. My biggest worry is she thinks I over feed her. For example, we went to the Easter vigil and had her watch Baby J. I left specific instructions including how much she needed to drink to go to bed. She felt like I fed her enough at dinner so she decided Baby J didn't need that bottle. So maybe once she switches to a 3 meals a day, I'll feel comfortable to leave her.
@schaze Baby J has had more poop diapers lately, but not as much as your LO.
Looks like my post got cut off but we've had a lot of poop here too. About 5 per day on average although thankfully not at night. And I would be worried about the MIL overnight situation too. I have the opposite problem where my mom and MIL blow through my pumped milk by feeding too much and too frequently. I know it can be so frustrating when family can't follow very specific instructions.
Poop is frequent here! At least 2-3 times a day. Far fly from the first 6 months when she was only breastfed and pooped once every couple weeks!!
Just ordered invites for L's first birthday. I want to cry! Ahhh!!! I love every new development so much. These times have been some of the most fun yet!! BUT I love my baby and she's slowly growing out of that! Boo!
We are a one poop a day house too. But he's EBF with little to no solids so that could be the reasoning.
Not poop related but has anyone else not gotten their period back yet? I know it's common for BFing mom's to not get it until they ween but just wondering. I woke up feeling like it was on its way. I don't miss this one bit.
DD2 pooped all the time when on no solids. Now she is eating solids 3 times per day, breakfast always includes prunes and pooping 2 hard small poops per day.
@DachshundMomma I WISH I hadn't gotten mine back yet! I've had it since 5 months PP.
Just gauging interest here, but I've seen on other BMBs they have a TTC check-in once ladies start trying for another. Not sure if anyone here is interested in this or not? We aren't trying for another few months but just thought I'd ask
