Good Luck to everyone who has appointments today. Hoping it goes well for you ladies!
@MaximumEffort So great you get an US today! Since it's short notice, maybe there's less anxiety leading up to it, instead of the normal several days? Can't wait to hear/see how it went!
A little late to the game here! Love reading about all your appointments! And good lucky to those of you who still have upcoming appointments this week! My 1st appointment is Friday at 5:30.(seriously could you make me wait any longer! Haha) I'm with a new midwife with time since we are planning a home birth. I believe I am 8-10ish weeks so hoping she might be able to find the heartbeat with the Doppler. She doesn't normally do ultrasounds until 22weeks, but when I met with her to talk about doing a home birth she said if I really wanted she could send me for an ultrasound to see how far along I am since I really don't know. Now to wait for Friday night......
I don't feel much better after this ultrasound. Got to see the little one. Not measuring as big as we thought, have a subchronic hemorrhage which isn't that uncommon. Tech said the heart was strong but baby didn't exactly move around.
@MaximumEffort I'm sorry it was the ultrasound experience you were hoping for! There are some really good things to take from it though!! Baby is there, heart rate is strong, and maybe you just aren't quite as far along as you thought. When do you go back for another ultrasound?
Had my appointment today! Dr. says everything looks perfect, which is such a relief. Baby is measuring right on track at 8+2. To all you ladies who are still waiting, I hope everything goes well for you!
@cmessamore I won't have another until 20 weeks. She didn't tell me how fast the heart beat was. Maybe I'll compare us with my DDs, she was 7 weeks when I had her first done. It just doesn't look right to me. But maybe I'm just stressing because this pregnancy feels nothing like my others.
@MaximumEffort I'm sorry it wasn't as great s you wanted it to be, but seems like it's still good news! Could you ask for another u/s before 20 weeks, maybe more like 12 to ease your mind?
I'm sorry you didn't walk away feeling more confident, @MaximumEffort. Is it possible that you were off on dates/ovulated late? If the doctor was concerned, he or she would have scheduled a follow up, I would think. Seeing a strong heartbeat is great!
@kissthesky32 My midwife wasn't there, she'll get the report and I'm sure will call me if there is an issue. I'm just worried, especially about the subchronic hemorrhage. I get they are common but I worry because of my job. Unsure of ovulation dates as my periods had been short and not consistent. I'll just cross my fingers.
I know it's hard not to worry @MaximumEffort, but a strong heartbeat does sound like good news. And if you're unsure about your O date, then maybe you're just not as far along as you thought. FX for you until you hear from your midwife.
My first appointment is today at 3:40. WHY did I worry about waiting until after work ????? Screw you job, I want to see my baby!!! At least DH is taking off early to come see the first US with me. Hopefully it's a good one.
@DuchessOfCambridge Thank you for thinking of us. I hope your appointment goes wonderfully. My midwife had to cancel all of her appointments for today and everyone in her office is booked until May. So I won't get my first appointment until 14+ weeks Since I am STM they don't seem too concerned about it, but I am. So I am on the cancelation wait list until then.
Thanks everyone! I had a great appointment! Per our prior NP discussion, today's appointment was with a NP and I LOVED her. She was so so sweet, answered all of my questions, and was never condescending. I started crying during the appointment (I was having feelings) and she was so nice about it. All the rest of my visits are with my OB but I would totally see the NP again. She was seriously great. And she was also pregnant, which made me like her more. She told me that now since I'm just about 8 weeks and there's a good heartbeat there's only a 3% chance that anything bad could happen and that makes me feel tons better too.
Also, I think it was @Roliepoliecoley4 who had asked (sorry if it wasn't) but the genetic testing is not covered in my state for low risk mothers. I asked about that today and I'm not sure where my friend got that information but if I want it done it will be $1200 out of pocket which I'm not going to do. Just opted for normal sequential screening!
ETA: I also got another ultrasound. I would post a picture but it doesn't look much different than last week's and it was just the bedside machine.
@cubsfan7 I thought I was 9 weeks using the Flo app. I measured a little less than 8. Haven't heard from the midwife if I'm suppose to do any precautions for the subchronic hematoma. Maybe none this early, only worries me with my job. Since I started the day with a detoxer in 4 point restraints.
thanks @DuchessOfCambridge! You're so good at remembering everyone's appointments! I'm so so glad you had a good appointment with the NP
Just got back from our appointment, everything was perfect! I posed a pic in the ultrasound thread. Our peanut is measuring right on track and the heartbeat was the best sound in the world! I loved the Dr. (he's new to me, same practice as my regular OBGYN). Only annoying part is they drew about 103298 vials of blood and on our drive home called and said they drew all the wrong tubes. So I have to go back tomorrow during work to have more drawn. And I have a big bruise already from where she drew the wrong tubes. Boo!
Had my very first appointment this morning, and as expected it was just paperwork and blood/urine testing. Next appt scheduled for May 10th. I asked when my first u/s would be and was told at my 18-22 week appointment! I'm not sure if it's a WI thing, or an insurance thing, or a clinic rule. Given that my symptoms decreased a lot over the past week and a half, I am desperate for confirmation that I am, indeed (still) pregnant. I am almost 9w and we haven't told a single person, I just need evidence before I feel more confident. So I pushed for an elective scan that I think I'll have to pay for out of pocket, but whatever the cost is I feel is worth me knowing what's going on. *TW* I have had two CPs over the past year that we've been TTC, and I'm 34 y/o, but my practice doesn't seem concerned or consider me "high risk" as though my prior losses weren't real, no - I haven't been to a RE but we were actually just heading there in March before my seemingly miraculous BFP which came right when I was at a low point *TW*. So they were able to find an appointment time for me tomorrow morning, which my DH can come to also. Nervous but still hopeful that all will be good with the scan, and looking forward to getting some more information. Sorry for the major vent here... TTC and then worrying about the LO is draining, it's nice to vent to a group where so many people understand. Hopefully I'll come back with positive news to share.
@car1a Good luck tomorrow! I hope you get some peace of mind! @safinn21@DuchessOfCambridge Hooray for wonderful appointments! @MaximumEffort I don't think there's any reason to worry just yet, although I know any abnormality can be scary. If your cycles are inconsistent, it would be very easy to be a week off with the EDD, and a steady heart rate is great! Hopefully your midwife can give you more peace of mind. @sarahunderthesea I would want to tear my hair out if that happened to me! FX that you're able to get an earlier appointment!

@car1a Good luck! That ultrasound confirmation is nice to have. Hope everything looks good @DuchessOfCambridge@safinn21@jka427 so glad you had a great appointment~ yay! @MaximumEffort Is there any way you can take it easy for the next few weeks on your job? Hope your boss is supportive!
Just saw one healthy baby measuring exactly the size of my EDD 8 weeks 1 day due 11/16. Dr did see a small pocket of blood can't remember what it's called but said not to worry but that it will either be absorbed or I might have a little bleeding and to call if that happens. Hoping for the best!!
My appointment went great. Love the midwife I have, she really takes her time to talk about things, my appointment was an hour and a half! I got to hear the baby's beautiful strong heartbeat! She had trouble finding it at first. She said it was because she could tell my placenta was in the front(as it has been with all my pregnancies.) also based on where she left my uterus she thinks I'm more like 12weeks. Since I haven't had period because I'm still breastfeeding DD2 I literally had no idea how far along I was. My guess was 8-10weeks, but 12is great too! Haha. We'll do an ultrasound at 20 weeks. So thankful tonight. Have a good weekend ya'll!!
@Daniep08 - She's deciding your due date based on the size of your uterus? When you haven't had a PP period since your last kid? I would not be comfortable with that at all. What if you're actually 8 weeks and not 12 and go past your given due date? You could be forced to induce a baby that is actually not even to term yet. Dating isn't accurate once you get to 20 weeks, so an ultrasound then will not help determine an accurate due date. With your situation, I would 100% push for a dating ultrasound. A week one way or another with a longer cycle/late ovulation, I wouldn't care, but a possible 4 week difference is a lot of baby development.
My first appt was a bit disappointing. I am seeing a new practice, because the doctors who delivered my previous 2 are no longer covered under my insurance. I was very unimpressed. The appt started with the medical assistants losing my urine sample and went downhill from there. I'm unsure if I will stay there or switch to another one, but I did make an appt at a new practice to try it out for next week. I don't want to regret not at least trying another practice since this experience had multiple red flags for me. We'll see! Either way, it should be fine.
Today they confirmed my pregnancy with a urine test and that was about it.
