@Chawk17 Thinking of you are sending you good vibes for a positive outcome.
@jka427 I'm sorry that happened to you! I seem to have a "difficult" uterus for u/s too. It took some time to see anything more than the sac at my appointment today. Hoping your doc has it down for the next appointment and you don't have to go through that again.

I posted in the u/s thread already, but I am over the moon that we got to see our baby and hear the h/b at 171 today! I was so anxious on the way to the appointment and started to get nervous when the u/s tech couldn't immediately see the baby. Then we got to hear the hb and all was rightness with the world. Good luck to all with appointments this week!

My husband couldn't make it after all so I was there alone..... and I kept seeing a flicker off to the left and thought "omg is it what I think it is?" Yes! Twins!!!
I texted DH a pic of the ultrasound like a good wife ;-) and he immediately called me. Right now we are both so shocked but I think once the shock wears off we'll be really excited! We already have a minivan, a double stroller, and two cribs so we're good right?!?
@TallMomma29 twins!!! Amazing! I was wondering how you were feeling about it when I saw the u/s picture, but you answered that Now your DH definitely should get a vasectomy, he's getting 3&4 at the same time! By the way, 4 under 4, you're a super hero. Congrats, so glad the appointment went well!
We were definitely staying open to the idea of a 4th because our first two are so close in age and we wanted the younger one to have a close in age buddy, so I guess we're just knocking it out at once!! I'm getting more excited now, especially because I told our nanny and she said she won't leave us! She helped raise her twin brothers who were 10 years younger than her, and has nannied for twins before. Now I just have to figure out how to afford paying her a bajillion dollars!! ;-)
My mom and grandma (who had two sets of fraternal twins) are ECSTATIC!
Just got back from my first prenatal appointment and it went really well. I have a long update in the PGAL checkin, but just excited that 1) I really love my new OB and 2) she scheduled me for an ultrasound next Tuesday (7w5d) to confirm due date. So excited I won't have to wait 3.5 more weeks like I thought I originally.
Appt went well! Got to see our little peanut and hear the heartbeat!!! I measured 8 weeks 4 days on ultrasound, which is about dead on with my prediction. The doctor said I am 9 weeks tomorrow based on LMP and put my EDD 11/8, but I know my cycle is longer and I am going to stick with my original 11/11 for the time being since my US corresponds with that as well. It was a super quick appt. Apparently they do the long appt at 12 weeks. We did get scheduled for genetic counseling and testing though (or well they will call me tomorrow). Oh my gosh I know we aren't "out of the woods" yet but I am just so happy right now.
Eta forgot to mention the doctor asked if we wanted an ultrasound...um YES!
@jess0211 my appointment was super quick too! They took my vitals, and then the OB did an ultrasound, told me it was twins, and then gave me a form to go get blood work done. Way too much of a whirlwind for such crazy news! I haven't been able to do any work since I got out of my appointment, and that was around 10:30 this morning!
Question for you ladies. Before, my baby was stuck right at the top of my uterus. But on today's 8 week ultrasound it showed up clearly on the right side. Is that bad, does it mean it came unstuck?? How is that even possible at this point? I forgot to ask the doc.
@asamapmaker They can move! It's totally normal. At our ultrasound at 9 weeks we actually saw the baby move mid-ultrasound (weirdly very cute!). Apparently they can sort of swim around in there.
@TallMomma29 I can't even imagine! I feel that way and I didn't get the news you did. I guess I expected it to be longer. DH was concerned it was so quick lol
@TallMomma29 Congratulations on the twin discovery - how exciting! @jess0211 So they just casually asked you if you wanted an ultrasound? Um, yes! I would be the same way! My first appointment is Thursday but I received my paperwork which says "no physical exam will be performed". I'm just not sure if I should be being more pushy than I have been to ask for an u/s soon if they don't want to do one Thursday, and whether early u/s are pretty common (I think I'm being exposed to a biased sample on here where so many people ("low risk" included) seem to be getting early u/s around week 8-10, but I'm sure a lot of others aren't!).
@jess0211: Yes to U/S! Lol. My OB wanted one for dating purposes next week, but then said the next standard one would be at 20 weeks for anatomy scan. Then she said, "unless you want another optional one at 12 weeks."
Internally, I was jumping up and down saying, "yes, yes I do!!!" But externally, I calmly said, "Sure, that would be nice."
@DuchessOfCambridge@dragonfly87@car1a he asked so casually, I looked at DH confused. I thought maybe he was joking but was just really bad at joking? He was a very serious guy.
I meant to add for ladies wondering about transvaginal ultrasound versus abdominal at first visit. I was sure they were going to do a transvaginal, even the nurse thought so, but they actually did an abdominal one. I kind of wish they has done transvaginal just because I know the image would have been better. But they were able to see the baby, heartbeat and hear heartbeat just fine with abdominal at 8 weeks.
This convo made me laugh because after yesterday's u/s we were scheduled for an NT test with a high risk specialist in 3 weeks. Doctor said we could come back to him in 2 weeks if we wanted for a reassurance u/s. I was like, nah, I don't want to overdo it and stress more, let's just wait the extra week. Come today I scheduled that 2 week reassurance u/s with no shame.
ETA: and everyone else! The page hadn't fully loaded and see congrats now from a bunch of other ladies too. So excited to have someone to share this with since we're going to keep the news on the DL for a few more weeks!
Ok, finally home! I had a great first appointment, although it was really more like a introduction to the practice. All we did was a urine analysis, paperwork, talked screenings/genetic testing and scheduled an U/S for 3 weeks from now (I'll be 11 weeks).
I woke up early and could not sleep because I am so keyed up about my appointment today. I'm going to be sitting on pins and needles until the ultrasound. Please, oh please, let there be a baby measuring on track with a nice heartbeat.
@kissthesky32 I'm in the same boat! My appointment isn't until 4:30 EST. I was up at 5 am.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 I'm sorry you're as nervous/excited/terrified/thrilled as I am. Today is either going to be really good or really bad for me. DH asked if I could FaceTime him during the ultrasound. I'm sure the doctor will think we're crazy...
@DuchessOfCambridge@Car1a@jess0211@dragonfly87 I have friends who chose to go their entire pregnancy with no ultrasound, and I opted to wait another 3 weeks for mine rather then push for an early one, so it definitely happens!

You guys!!! I got a call from the OBGYN group about the dating ultrasound. They asked my availability which is only today this week and they can see me this morning. I'm super excited. It'll be rushed because DH has a meeting at 11 but he will come with me since this is his first baby. Can't wait and yet so nervous.
