38 week appt today. Apparently at 38 weeks a c check is no longer optional. Progress! I'm now 2cm and 70% thinned. He could feel her head! My bp is good and urine is great so he assured me I do not in fact have pre-e. I'm such a worrier. Also talked to him about Sunday night's fun, and he said it sounds normal, and to time them, and to call when I feel I need to. Which is not super helpful, but he's right. How are we supposed to know? How's he to know? Yay for the next couple of weeks of uncertainty.
Lucy is still measuring properly by feel, though I wish I could see her!
Weekly on Monday, no changes. My chiropractor came back to work today so I had an adjustment for the first time in two weeks. It was glorious. I also had an u/s to re-check positioning (baby still head down, whoop!) and got an estimated size. At 37+6, s/he is measuring 8 lbs. 9 oz. I know it can be off, but given my history of big babies I think it's accurate. Back to chiro tomorrow and Friday!
On Monday I had a post partum checkup to look at my incision again since it opened up and got infected as well as check my blood pressure. My OB said my incision is completely healed (although a bit sensitive). He also said I could discontinue one of my bp meds!!! He asked me a lot of questions about baby J and thought it was hysterical that we call him Gruntasaurus. He introduced me to his sister that came by the office and told me about his family a little bit. He gave me a giant hug when I left and I nearly cried. I go back in 2 weeks for my 6 week check up and I probably WILL cry then. It's crazy weird how much I like him, delivering my baby boy makes me feel attached to him somehow. Strange, I know.
Jordan had his 1 month appointment today. My little fat fat weighs 8 lbs 2 ounces! He has gained 2 lbs 5 oz since birth! He has grown 1.75 inches in height. His head circumference is 36 cm, although I have no idea what it was a birth or any of his previous appointments. According to the growth charts, his head is on track; but his height and weight are below the curve. However, his ped is happy with his growth and said that preemies typically catch up to where they should be by 1 yr of age. He is still jaundiced so he has to get some lab work done. Thankfully it is only a heel prick and not an actual blood draw, but let's be real, I'll probably cry lol. Apparently it can last up to 8 weeks in preemies, but she wants to be sure it is neonatal jaundice still and not his liver function going down. He does in fact have a blocked tear duct (thanks ladies for helping with that diagnosis!). She said we are doing everything right for it. I mentioned him being congested so she took a flexible plastic tube and stuck it up both nostrils to make sure they weren't blocked. They weren't blocked, but OMG did he hate that!
I'm feeling grumpy appt the appt I just had. 38+3. I measure 40 wks so this is the third week in a row I'm measuring 2-3 wks big so it's clear it isn't position. it's either a large babe or a fluid issue. I told her I really didn't want a growth scan but she was insistent they need to check fluid, too. And she wants a bpp so I go back in 35 min for all that. Last week I was 1cm and 0% effaced. This week I'm still 1cm but I'm 50% effaced. Logically I know that means nothing but I'm feeling discouraged.
Just had my 36 week appt. (36+4) 1 cm and very soft, but she said that my cervix was "really far back". I have no idea what that means. Of coarse, I realize that 1cm means almost nothing, and she told me that as a STM most of the time your body "preps" earlier.
The scan went fine, phew! No real explanation as to why I am measuring big. Baby weight estimate as of yesterday was 7lb13oz. This tech (my favorite) said she is a max of 3-6oz off in either direction historically speaking so she thinks this baby is anywhere from 7.13 to 8.2 at this time (not the lower range of 7.5). That is consistent with my prior babies so it would certainly make sense. They were 8.3 and 8.4 at birth. As far as fluid 12-20 is normal, I am at 21.8. So a bit high, but it's not concerning until 25 so they will just watch it and likely want to check again next week. The BPP portion of the scan went great. No concerns there. Her head is low and so I really couldn't get a good look at her face even though the tech tried hard to show me. She also couldn't see if she had hair or not b/c of her head being right on my cervix. I am glad it was uneventful.
We had a weight check for M today. She's 4 days old. I was super anxious about it. Feels like an assessment of my fitness as a mother. But she had gained 3 oz since yesterday and is only 2 oz from birth weight!

At my regular appointment 36+ 4 they let me know I was GBS negative, 1cm dilated and no effacement. I love my weekly appointments right now, the counting down is making it real. My OB seriously only spends a couple minutes with me and we end up talking about random stuff like childcare and cruises now so than my pregnancy lol since it's been pretty uneventful so far. I'm guessing at 39+4 we'll be scheduling or discussing induction.
