  • Sunday morning: both kids poop like woah and dad stays asleep. Oh, mom life.

  • Gave B some ready to feed formula - he's had the little 2oz bottles but not a big bottle full. He spit up all day yesterday and we are both on outfit #4 today. Plus he just had a huge blowout through his sleeper, swaddle and onto the sheets. FML

  • @kvruns we definitely notice more blow out poops and spit up when we have given formula too.
  • I'm starting to think B has psychic abilities. Doesn't matter when I go to bed, the minute I lay down he starts coughing and the monitor goes off and I fear he will wake up. Then when I pump in morning same thing - right when I start he starts too. It's like he knows!

I second this, only add another kid to it. They wake up within minutes of each other regardless of when they went to bed and typically want to eat at the same time too.

  • H just signed B up for an easter egg hunt LOL. I was like umm maybe not this year and he's like well there is a 0-2 group. I'm thinking yes for those kids who can crawl and like to grab things - not our 4 month old who only grabs when you dangle a toy in front of him and he can't even sit up on his own. But whatever. H is finally showing interest in the baby so I will just go with it.

  • Could be super cute! Yay H!
  • I know babies are better milk extractors than pumps, but after pumping twice, my right side still feels full.

Have you switched out the shields? I have a medala freestyle and they recommend switching out every 2 months. I keep a spare set because it's like clockwork, 2 months and the suction starts sucking.

No I had no idea that was recommended. Guess I will have to do that. I've been using the same ones for 5 months. Thanks!

It's the membranes for me. But also, the hand pump is WAY more efficient for me.

  • I really want S in her own room by the beginning of June.  I've even taken time off of work around Memorial Day to start sleep training.  Now H says he wants her to stay in our room until she's 1.  Ummm, no I don't think so.  All of us are getting poor sleep because she's in our room.  When she's already asleep for the night I feel like I can't even go in there because she is such a light sleeper, but its my room!!
  • Why wait to transition @ladybug2821 if you're sleeping poorly?

  • @SandNStarsNJ A couple reasons I guess. *TW* I still have some anxiety around SIDS and such things. H's cousin very recently lost a baby due to SIDS and it brought back my constant checks to make sure she's breathing.*  Also hoping she'll go to one MOTN feeding by then so hopefully only having to walk across the house once.  H was a cop so he's very particular about shutting our bedroom door and locking it at night. He's not comfortable with her not being able to voice if someone were to break in and go in her room. A little paranoid, I know. So he's trying to compromise on 9 months now. I might just sleep somewhere else and they can have the bedroom to themselves.
  • Oh my goodness! Im so sorry to hear about H's cousin's child @ladybug2821, that's awful. My thoughts and prayers to them.

I too would have a good bit of anxiety.

  • Having a pretty down night. Needing to share since I'm home here alone and LO is sound asleep. Having trouble falling down the lonely, scared, worst case scenario worm hole. I hate the fear and sadness when I'm alone and anxiety is reading it's ugly head. Sorry to be a downer, just struggling right now.

  • @desoky01 *hugs* no need to apologize for being honest. Life is not always butterflies, and it can be even harder for those of us struggling with anxiety. Not really related specifically to worst case scenarios, but for motherhood, I find this video inspiring in my hard moments: https://youtu.be/FQK9Ufr4yrY
  • Hope your feeling better today @desoky01

  • Ok I put aquafor on this and I think it's because he's constantly drooling. I do bibs during the day and switch them out when wet and outfit changes. What else can I do? He's not bothered by it at all and it's only on his mouth and neck. Poor little babe

  • Thanks all, I am feeling better this morning. I decided to stay off Facebook for awhile, as I think seeing all the negative stories all the time makes it really hard. Seeing random stories about death, horrible people, stressful situations, etc. was really getting to me I think. Usually it wasn't even what people said themselves, but the stupid news stories or articles they shared. I hate that that's what fb is now! Anyway. Hoping that helps with the scary intrusive worst case thoughts. Thanks for the support!

  • @desoky01 That is exactly why I do not watch the news anymore.  I'd rather not hear about all the negativity.
  • @Ladybug2821 yes.

@lajoliedreamer thank you so much, just finished watching the video. It is very helpful, especially at the crossroads of some big life decisions I'm trying to make right now. Thank you.

  • @anne11716 Have you tried California Baby calendula cream? It helps at least on the face for us.

Do you have a video monitor? Maybe get one so you can just check LO on that instead of always going to the room. We have had LO in her room since day one, we have a video monitor (wasn't planning on it but I won it from TheBump) and it has been a life saver. When I start to worry that she is breathing I just stare at it until I see her chest rise and fall.

  • Completely random and not necessarily baby related except to have more $ to spend on LO.  Our cable is just way too high here.  I don't even have DVR or movie channels and the price is ridiculous.  I really want to try just having Netflix and Hulu, but then how would we watch sports?  I don't really know too much about Hulu so maybe they have that option but I don't know.  Any tips on how to "downsize" on cable?

So my dad decided to do the same thing but wanted to see how low he could get the cable bill first. He called and said he wanted to cancel and of course they offered him a discount to keep his account. He said no it's still too high, they offered another discount. He said no it's still just a bit too high. They offered another discount (see where this is going?) And he again refused. He got his cable bill down to $12 a month! So I'd try that and ser what happens. The worst thing is they refuse to drop the rate and you keep paying what you pay now. Good luck!

Most sports are streaming now too (online).

DANG! We just tried negotiating ours (well the internet portion) and all they would offer was $5 off so we left. H had been a customer for a long time so I was surprised they didn't offer much
  • will the post-baby/C-section pooch ever go away?!?! Not that I'm actively doing anything to help it go away but still, looks awful with some clothes. I don't even want to think about dresses this summer
  • @kvruns I'd also like an answer to that question. I went to a fancy cocktail party for work last night and had to tuck in and pull my blouse out so that the blowse covers the pooch. Pumping all day with tucking and untucking the blouse was *fun*.

We got rid of cable and only have Netflix and Hulu. When H really wants a game he finds it online and mirrors it on the TV. It's not always the best quality though, so if you guys are die hard fans it might not work the greatest for you. Otherwise we ask to watch games with friends or find a place to watch.

  • I tried negotiating a lower price also. Unfortunately my cable provider was bright house and has now been purchased by spectrum. I currently have bright house pricing and the switch to spectrum pricing was actually an  increase.  I wish we had Verizon fios here. Supposedly bright house had an agreement with the town and they basically monopolize the area.
  • I think we've settle on NYC beginning of May.
Any suggestions on what areas to stay (that won't break the bank but can be easy commutes with baby)? I think we're flying into la guardia. Also open to suggestions of things to do!
