How far along are you? 12 weeks today! Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not really. Just moving along. Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had a regular OB appointment yesterday and all is well! No ultrasound, but we heard the heartbeat through the Doppler. It took about 30-45 seconds for the doctor to find the heartbeat, but it felt like hours and was terrifying. LO's heart is beating away at 160 bpm though, so all is good! Rants/raves? I feel like yesterday's appointment was just one more hurdle cleared before I can breathe easily and really believe that everything is fine. We have our NT scan next week, after which we will make our news public, and I'm excited about that. Questions for FTM, or STM+? Nothing I can think of today. GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself. Before I became a teacher, I was an opera singer. It was really cool to have a unique skill and be able to travel, but ultimately the lifestyle was too difficult and I didn't have the right personality (i.e. crazy competitive) to really make it. I still do a fair amount of singing locally, but I'm very happy with my decision to choose a different career path.
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Definitely feeling rounder
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my 4 week follow up last Wednesday with my OB. Appointment went great. Had my thyroid checked again as my levels have been high, did the harmony blood test, and my husband did his genetic testing as well. Ultrasound showed baby moving around like crazy, it was difficult to get a good picture. It was so exciting to see so much movement. Tomorrow i have my NT scan. Secretly looking forward to seeing baby 2 weeks in a row
Rants/raves? DH and I cannot agree on whether or not we should find out the sex of the baby. I want to know. I'm a planner. He wants to be surprised. Which I think is sweet. For now, I am inclined to go along with being surprised. However, that all might change when the harmony results come in this week
Questions for FTM, or STM+? For food aversions, did any of your aversions come back either during pregnancy or after. My husband and I try to follow a vegan diet & i haven't been able to eat any of the protein substitutes. Tofu, seitan, veggie burgers, nothing! They all make me gag, so I've resorted to eating eggs. Which oddly enough are fine. (If you knew me, you'd be shocked that I'm eating eggs. I hated them long before i gave them up.) I'm also having a hard time eating veggies/greens. Just wondering if these aversions will resolve and I'll be able to eat this stuff again.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself - I studied opera in college.
@emwj10187 I had a mild aversion to chicken for awhile when I was pregnant with DS. By mid second trimester all of my aversions had disappeared. I hope they go away for you soon!

How far along are you? 11w+2
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not necessarily. I am actually on the up and up. My energy levels are coming back around. I still have some food aversions, but no throw up whatsoever this entire duration. Hopefully it stays that way!
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Yes, I just had my appointment yesterday. Found out that LO is measuring ahead by about 2-3 days. LO moved a lot during U/S and made it hard to get a great picture and even a heartbeat clip. It was lovely though. Got my blood drawn and underwent the progenity test to find out if we have any genetic issues going on. I'm a little worried because I don't know much of my family history and neither does DH. We'll see!
Rants/raves? Rant: I need to make it easier to draw blood. It's been so hard for ALL of the nurses in the office to draw my blood and it takes several pokes. By the end I have swamp butt because of how jittery and nervous I get due to the pokes!
Other Rant/Rave: I used to be about 120lbs but didn't watch myself for 1 year. I got up to 140lbs and between then and getting KU I am at 160lbs. It makes me so unhappy but realistically, I understand that I need to watch myself more carefully and at least exercise a little. Unfortunately, I am now considered overweight (my BMI just hit 25.06) and it's a little devastating.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? How much weight did you gain? Were you able to drop back down? If so, how long did it take?
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself . I enjoy keeping beautiful Betta fish and rescue them from pet stores. Then, I rehab them and keep them for years until my next rehab rescue!
@VLillyV I gained 30 pounds with DS and started out pregnancy about 30 pounds heavier than where I started with this one. I probably actually gained more weight because I think I lost some of my own since I wasn't drinking wine. At 20 weeks I had only gained 5 pounds and the rest came at the end.
I was down to pre-pregnancy weight by like... 4-6 weeks after delivery and continued to drop weight for probably another 9 months. I also EBF and I know weight loss is not guaranteed for everyone but it seemed to work for me. I ended up about 60 pounds less than my top pregnancy weight.
I'm hoping for a similar experience this time but I'm not counting on it. Every pregnancy is different.

3. NT scan but have to return as the tech wanted me over 12 weeks. Was amazing to see Baby Leafy flipping and bouncing around!
No rants, raves or questions right now.
GTKY: peace out, all
@VLillyV I'm super scared of needles, so that sounds just awful. For me, it's only easy to draw blood when I'm pregnant because I guess my veins are more prominent. Editing to say, they usually have to take it with a baby needle through my hand which takes foreverrrrrr

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not much, still getting headaches with a side of heartburn!
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my NT scan on Thursday. Got some awesome pictures of Peanut. My DH was able to come and it was his first time seeing an ultrasound. He was so excited. Everything appeared normal on the ultrasound, but haven't heard back about my blood test results yet!
Rants/raves? We may have to buy a new car soon...life is expensive!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? Did you have a baby shower? Did you have more than one? I don't require one, but several people have offered to throw one for me, which is really sweet. I just don't think it's necessary to have more than one and hope they can just join together and do one.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself I LOVE to cross stitch! I made some really awesome Christmas stocking for me and DH a year or two ago and right now I'm working on one for the baby!
@JessDG I had two. A smallish one with work friends and then a larger one with family. Most of my family lives 3ish hours away so it was easier to do them separately and the small one was really just a brunch and then social time with 4-5 of us.

Seriously, if you're undecided, ask them to put it in an envelope and seal it up for you. That's what we did last time. I absolutely didn't want to find out and DH kind of did. But he ended up having so much fun with it, it wasn't even a debate this time.
Slightly selfish reason not to - you will get all neutral things at your baby shower (which will then make life SO much easier if you decide to have more). Then, once baby actually comes, people will be SO excited that they will bring you MORE gender-specific things. So you get double the clothes. Just saying
Also? It's hysterical to see how worked up people get when they find out you're 7 months pregnant and don't know what you're having. I seriously thought the cashier at a gas station was going to have a breakdown over it.

@VLillyV I gained 37# with my first. I eventually got to 5# under my prepregnancy weight but when I stopped breastfeeding I gained 10# back and ended up 5# up from my previous prepregnancy for this pregnancy.

food aversions - some come and go, some stay with you a long time after. 4 years ago with my daughter i got an aversion to chicken. i still stuffed it down my throat from time to time. but i really struggled with eating it for years after...until now. now i crave it?
weight gain - i am overweight so i actually didnt gain anything until 3rd trimester. and dropped back down relatively quickly. it all depends on your pregnancy, your BMI, lifestyle, etc. just try to stay in the "recommended" and you should be fine. just a warning your body will never be the same again. even if you get your weight back to normal asap. RIP kidless bodies. This pregnancy i am eating for an army. so i dont expect to be so lucky.
@emwj10187 - Ugh... food aversions all day. I have the hardest time with veggies. I do ok with salad but anything cooked turns my stomach. All I seem to be eating lately are processed foods and carbs. (Which, I'm pretty health conscious and usually strive to eat whole, clean foods and have a very balanced diet.) I was super sick yesterday and my mom's BF stopped by with some ginger ale.. the second ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. (bleh!) It helps the nausea though... and I know (HOPE) this is only temporary and I can start to eat like me again. @VLillyV - I have always struggled with my weight... and my weight's been up for a while in the 150's (I'm 5'4') before I got pregnant... and the last Dr visit I was over 160. I'm nervous for my next weigh in because I haven't been able to exercise or eat right due to the MS and I may have gained even though they recommend not to gain too much in the 1st tri. BUT I know once this wears off, I can go back to exercise and eating right and I'm sure it will level off to baby's gain rate. But I just know I'm going to get a lecture lol. That and it makes me nervous because I haven't been this heavy in 10 years. But... I'm having a baby... and there will be plenty of time after to get my body back.
How far along are you? 11- 12ish weeks
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? I think the MS is peaking. I had to call out of work yesterday it was so bad. Only vomited 2x's... but killer all day nausea. Called my mom and asked her when it went away for her... she said "you don't want to know." Then she said "somewhere in the 7th month." I want to cry.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Next appointment is on Friday.. NT scan on the 4th.
Rants/raves? Refer to symptoms above. Mints seem to help.. Also ginger ale. but I can only take so much!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? When did your MS peak and resolve. I have faith I'm almost done with it.... but it's so hard to see right now.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself. I was on the "Can I Afford It" segment of the Suze Orman show in 2014. I asked if I could afford to run the Dopey Challenge at Disney Marathon Weekend 2015. I was approved
emwj10187 I feel the same way. Normally I love my greens and veggies but the idea of eating fresh veggies kind of makes me gag. I want mac and cheese and "heartier" foods instead.
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Heightened sense of smell and the first appearance of "bacne."
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Nope, none.
Rants/raves? I'm with you, JessDG. We may have to buy a second car but it's really not an expense I want to think about right now!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? Maybe a weird question but how many of you are sleeping in a sports bra? I grew up being told it wasn't healthy to sleep in a bra, but with sore boobs, it really does help when I do sleep with one on.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself: I have two completely different ears. One is my dad's ear and one is my mom's. My mom's is smaller and folded over at the top; my dad's is a bit larger and not folded.
@emwj10187 I had strong aversions to vegetables and chili when I was pregnant with DS. The aversion to veggies went away fairly quickly. The chili did not. It was so bad, even someone saying the word would send me running for the toilet. Now, I *can* eat it, but I usually choose not to.
@VLillyV I gained 33 lbs with DS. Losing the weight wasn't so difficult for me. My son was born in mid-November and the weight was gone by Christmas. My shape, though? Never went back to the way it had been. I never had a super flat stomach, but now it's always rounded.
@VLillyV so DH says I gained about 30. I refused to look at the scale the entire pregnancy so I honestly don't know. But about a year after I had DD, I was in the best overall shape of my life (and I was a xc runner in college). If you commit to working out and eating healthy, the weight will come off. Breastfeeding, however, did not help me magically drop all the weight, as I felt like I had been led to believe. The weight came off when I finally said okay, I'm going to work out and eat right.

At the request of @soprano19, STM here to chime in on all the questions!
@emwj10187 my food aversions didn't stick around after pregnancy, but my cravings did. I had been a vegetarian for several years before getting pregnant with DD. My whole pregnancy I craved meat so much, but I never caved. It continued after pregnancy, and after about a year, I gave in. Now a proud recovering vegetarian, as DH likes to say.
@VLillyV I gained about 25 lbs. Like @jessafishy, I lost weight pretty easily after DD was born, and was probably back to pre-pregnancy weight within 1-2 months. I attribute it mostly to breastfeeding, but I also ate super healthy after having her - I craved fruits, veggies, etc. Everyone is so different with this though, and its even different from pregnancy to pregnancy, so try not to compare too much. For example, my SIL, who is probably 5 feet tall and a size 0, gained 70+ lbs with one of her babies. It obviously took her a lot longer, but she eventually lost it all (probably 1 year out).
@JessDG I had two showers, one with my family and one with DH's. My family lives in another state, so it wouldn't have worked to combine them, otherwise I probably would have requested that. If that's what you'd prefer, I don't think it's a problem to ask.
@crazypuglady I didn't really have MS with my first, but this time around it peaked from weeks 7-9. Again, everyone is different, but I noticed a drastic change right at the 12 week mark (I'm 13 weeks now). It is still lingering, but MUCH more mild. Hopefully you're getting to the end of it too.

@beezeemarie lol I'l be a recovering vegan after this. Glad to hear you're back at it
@soprano19 So fun that we have something in common Im still singing but not so much classical anymore. I left the opera world not long after i graduated. I've been doing theatre for a long time & i was singing in a band for a while. Although now that my pregnant, singing in the band was just too much. The late nights were killing me so i reluctantly left. Every once and a while i'll get asked to sing in churches or for weddings/funerals. My favorite gig that i have is singing the National Anthem for events. I get asked to do that a lot. Even though i'm not doing opera anymore, I loved the traveling and experiences i had, and especially thankful for the training.

Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Yesterday .. but was a pain in the behind. Basically they were running behind that by the time I was getting into the room the ultrasound tech and the lab tech were leaving. They couldn't find the heartbeat via Doppler bc they think LO is hiding behind my pulse and I needed to have my blood drawn. Going in on Monday to get LO's heartbeat via Doppler or ultrasound and the blood work.
Rants/raves? Almost with what @emwj10187 was saying ... DH and I agree we want to find out the sex though, but just not the timing of it all. I want to schedule a u/s for about the 16 wk mark but DH said we can wait until the anatomy scan at 20/21 weeks. I don't know if I can wait that long!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? Nothing I can think of.

@soprano19 I'm so glad you were able to find the hb. It's such a weight lifted to hear that beautiful sound. We have our NT scan next week, too, and ditto to making the news "public," although for us that really just means fb/coworkers, because family and close friends know.
@emwj10187 All the protein aversions over here. I *think* it's getting a bit better, though. *knocks on wood*
@vlillyv I know it's hard, but try not to stress about your weight! I feel like if there's any time to give ourselves a break, it's when we're pregnant. Everything in moderation, and don't feel guilty about the occasional or not-so-occasional brownie. (I used brownie as an example because I just ate one. From Panera. So much yum!) We have the rest of our lives to beat ourselves up and diet.
@crazypuglady Ugh I have my fx for you that the nausea resolves itself soon. That's miserable. Ginger ale works wonders for me, too.
@keiraanne I was just contemplating the sports bra in bed thing. I normally wear nada but underwear (sorry if tmi, haha) and am worried I would have trouble sleeping. I hate bras in general. But my boobs are really starting to get sore when I side sleep.
@jessafishy@beezeemarie and all the STM+ who chimed in, thanks for answering our questions and please continue!
How far along are you? 11+4
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Just my hormones being TWs! Crazy mood swings.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had an u/s and the Panorama test yesterday. Got to see our little pumpkin wiggling away. We have our NT scan next week- then we have to wait 4 weeks for our next appt! #torture
Rants/raves? Today started kind of crappy, but it's turned into a good day. My favorite friend of DH's is coming to dinner tonight, and he insisted on picking up Cheesecake Factory. Feels strange, since I would normally be cooking up a storm for company, but it's nice!!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? How real is the early flutters thing? When did you start feeling them and what do they feel like?

Hmm...Well, I'm a writer. Reading and writing are my biggest passions.
@bluejeanbabi05 I felt DS for sure at exactly 18 weeks. DH even felt him from the outside at the same time. I'm sure I felt him sooner but I wasn't ever sure until that time. DS was VERY active too so I felt him pretty consistently after that, once I knew what I was feeling.
I've heard STMs start feeling movement sooner so I'm hoping I don't have much longer to wait (11 weeks tomorrow so I'm hoping as soon as 15 weeks I might feel something). That was one of my favorite parts of pregnancy.
ETA, as for what it feels like, it is similar to a gas bubble bursting but less... predictable... at least when they are little.

@bluejeanbabi05- thanks! I feel bad complaining about it all the time... but it's the only thing I can focus on right now and it needs to stttooooopppppp! lol
@bluejeanbabi05 I felt DS early. 14 or 15 weeks, I think. I remember talking to my doc about it at my 16 week appointment. It felt like someone was flicking me from the inside.
I'm pretty sure I felt this one already, by fluke. I was writing an exam on Saturday and I was super hunched over the table. I felt the same flicking I did with DS. Three in a row and I haven't felt anything since. I'm pretty sure it's because I was basically folded in half. Or I needed to fart, but I'd rather think it was babe ;-)
@bluejeanbabi05 I know I felt my other kiddos for sure by 15 weeks. This one, I'm pretty certain I've already felt as early as 11 weeks, but only know that because I have experienced it 3 other pregnancies lol. It has only been when I'm lying against a pillow that's propped up against my belly or when I'm laying down and have my thighs up near my belly.
Like @jessafishy said, it feels similar to a gas bubble at this stage. If you feel something and think "what was that" but then pass gas right after, that's not baby lol
@bluejeanbabi05 I felt ds1 for the first time at 17 weeks. It felt like I was holding a goldfish in my hand but on the inside. Then I didn't feel again for another week and definitely not consistently until well after 20 weeks. I had an anterior placenta though which makes it harder to feel early movement.

Stuck in a box, but same here! Ive been sleeping with puma medium support sports bra for about 3 weeks. And i too usually wear nada but undies. No tmi lol
+1 for gaining too much weight in the first trimester. 10 lbs already and a couple weeks still to go. *sigh*
How far along are you?... 10w4d.
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?... I keep thinking my symptoms are going away. I have 2 or 3 days of feeling pretty good. Then, like today, the nausea comes back with a vengeance for 3 or 4 days.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go?... I didn't check in last week but had my first prenatal last Friday with bloodwork done, but nothing exciting.
Rants/raves?... My work building is splitting and I found out today that I get to stay in my same location, keep approximately my same hours, and my same days (love my Tues thru Sat schedule). Also told my senior manager about the pregnancy and got a very good reaction, considering I won't be able to work the most important part of the year for us (I'll be on leave Oct thru Jan in the shipping industry! )

@bluejeanbabi05 I felt DD definitely at 17 weeks. I think I felt this LO a few times last week at 12 weeks, but I'm questioning it just because it seemed really early. However, if you don't feel anything for awhile, don't worry. A friend of mine didn't feel anything until 24 weeks. So there is a big range of what is normal.

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Headaches upon headaches. I've never really gotten them before, and it's pretty awful on top of the exhaustion.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? None yet. We have on next Friday at 12 weeks.
Rants/raves? I have a one on one with my boss every Tuesday. She's been asking me if I'm okay for weeks now (I'm typically super talkative and jokey but I haven't been able to fake the funk), and I've been putting her off. Today she asked again and I just didn't have the strength to come up with another story. I just blurted out "X, I'm pregnant." The shock on her face followed by the scream of excitement (lol) made it that much better. She goes "I have chills" and then promises not to tell anyone until I'm ready. I'm just glad she's going to stop with all the worrying about me. Hopefully her excitement is a sign it'll all go over well. I'm the first woman to ever get pregnant in my department. There have been ladies with kids (and they've all left for greener, more flexible pastures) but no pregnant ones. Fingers crossed.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? None yet.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself I'm awful at these...umm..I skipped 3rd grade? Lol
How far along are you? I should be 11+3, but doctor said baby is measuring a week behind. So who knows?
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Oh my goodness the MS has gotten so bad. For weeks 6 through 9, I felt very nauseous half of each week, but felt mostly okay the other half. But last week and this week I've been dying. I actually puked out of my supervisor's car yesterday. I opened my mouth to tell her I wasn't feeling well, and it started to come up! She had to pull over super fast so I could open the door. So embarrassing
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I had my first appointment with the doctor a few days ago. Baby wasn't cooperating with the Doppler, so I got to have an ultrasound! It was wonderful to see a healthy baby moving around in there.
Rants/raves? I am so unbelievably tired of this MS and fatigue. I talked to my mother last week, who informed me she had zero MS during both of her pregnancies. So not fair!!
Questions for FTM, or STM+? Not at this time. I appreciate reading the STM's responses to everyone's questions though!
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself I've developed three different allergies during my adult years. Bees, hazelnuts, and the adhesive on bandaids. The bee allergy is the only serious one (like requiring an epi pen), but the other two are fun as well
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? No, everything is fading away actually, I'm feeling so much better! Also I keep forgetting to sign in here every week. Lol.
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? I won't have one until April 19th. LO would be 16 weeks by then.
Rants/raves? I hate constipation. But I am dealing with it and so far I'm lucky enough to have it under control. Thanks to all the other mommas who helped me with various tips as well. Also, I have formed a very firm bump now. It's a bit noticeable now to other people too. I guess it's because I'm too short so nothing left to squeeze into down there.
Questions for FTM, or STM+? About the weight gain topic, I don't seem to be gaining anything! I weigh the same in all my check ups so far, when did you mommas start gaining weight? Without including the baby's weight.
GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself I can't think of anything... Uhhm... I'm only 5 feet tall? seriously can't think of anything. Maybe I'll edit this when I do.
@lin1019 I mentioned this earlier but I had only gained 5 pounds at 20 weeks with DS. I don't think you need to worry at this point.

Re: First Time Mom Check In (3/28)
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in?

I seriously thought the cashier at a gas station was going to have a breakdown over it.

weight gain - i am overweight so i actually didnt gain anything until 3rd trimester. and dropped back down relatively quickly. it all depends on your pregnancy, your BMI, lifestyle, etc. just try to stay in the "recommended" and you should be fine. just a warning your body will never be the same again. even if you get your weight back to normal asap. RIP kidless bodies. This pregnancy i am eating for an army. so i dont expect to be so lucky.
May Siggy Challenge: Parenting Fails

@VLillyV I gained 33 lbs with DS. Losing the weight wasn't so difficult for me. My son was born in mid-November and the weight was gone by Christmas. My shape, though? Never went back to the way it had been. I never had a super flat stomach, but now it's always rounded.
BFP#3: 2/9/13 EDD 10/18/17. Team Green for Round 2!
Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Bye bye symptoms! I do not miss you!
Any appointments since last check in? How did it go? Had an appointment yesterday. It was great!
Rants/raves? I scheduled an appointment with a 3D/4D ultrasound place to find out the gender in a few weeks!! I'm really excited about it!

Any new symptoms or changes since last check in? Not as nauseous the 2 days.. and I'll take it!

GTKY: Share 1 random fact about yourself
I've heard STMs start feeling movement sooner so I'm hoping I don't have much longer to wait (11 weeks tomorrow so I'm hoping as soon as 15 weeks I might feel something). That was one of my favorite parts of pregnancy.
ETA, as for what it feels like, it is similar to a gas bubble bursting but less... predictable... at least when they are little.

Like @jessafishy said, it feels similar to a gas bubble at this stage. If you feel something and think "what was that" but then pass gas right after, that's not baby lol

Also told my senior manager about the pregnancy and got a very good reaction, considering I won't be able to work the most important part of the year for us (I'll be on leave Oct thru Jan in the shipping industry! )

None yet.
