@rms924 I could go on about our mat leave policy for days. I just can't believe we're not embarrassed by the fact that we are pathetic compared to all other first world countries and most developing countries. Only a handful are as bad as we are and in those countries many women don't even work to begin with! The US goes on and on about being number one. In terms of military, yes. In terms of everything else? We're being laughed at/pitied. I need to stop before I work myself up into yet another maternity leave rage.

I love where I live but I don't love how women's issues are handled.

I couldn't have said it better. I actually think that we are negatively impacting future generations. Bonding time with your mother is critical to everything from good mental health to strong immune systems. I will have to pull some of these articles. It's pitiful.

Also, how productive are women 8-12 weeks PP? I was a wreck at 8 weeks. Going back at 6 months would have a made a HUGE diff for my child and for me as an employee. @DuchessOfCambridge this is one of the issues that gets me all riled up!

@rms924 seriously, why can't they just let us be with our children until AT LEAST 6 months?? Let them be breastfed and loved and bonded with, and then send them to daycare after they're able to get their vaccinations!

Ugh don't get me started on the maternity leave in the US - or, more accurately, the lack of it.

I'm a pharmacist and I work in long term care.

I just started working as a City Carrier for USPS about 2 months ago. I commute an hour and 20 minutes to work which sucks but I don't get off work in time to pick my son up from daycare so I need to work close to where my fiance works and his parents live so that there's people to pick my son up. It's a great paying job but super long hours and I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it through a pregnancy in the Florida heat with no a/c all day but we shall see.

@laurie i want to thank you for your work! I was a first gen college student, immigrant to the U.S. I wish I'd had someone to help me so much. My school counselor was kind of useless. I did learn a lot along the way and was able to help my sister, though.

I work in refugee resettlement to the U.S. I plan to take one year of maternity leave and hope that with the current political situation, there will be a job for me to return to. @DuchessOfCambridge i feel very lucky being where I am for my pregnancy and my heart aches for all of the mamas that have to go back to work, one, two, three months after their babies are born. I hope one day American parents will get the parental leave that they and their children deserve.

I love the idea of being a SAHM, but in reality, I think I would not love it as much, plus we can't afford it right now. If possible, I would love to try working part time and staying home the rest of the time.

Right now I do clerical work for the VA. It's piece rate which is pretty stressful while being pregnant. Also, I ended up getting severe carpal tunnel with DD2 in the third trimester so I'm not looking forward to that this time around. I was planning on finishing up my schooling this year but now it will have to wait another year. I'm going for Elementary Education which is exciting but the pay is the same I receive now after school loans so there's no rush fianancially to finish school. It will happen, sooner or later.

I'm a full time wedding photographer and work from home mostly! I'm planning to max out at about 20 weddings a year after kiddo comes so I can still mostly be a SAHM but continue the work I love. I also sell LipSense and SeneGence cosmetics just for fun! So thankful for a husband who is basically our sole income since we recently moved to a new area and I've had to start my entire business over from scratch. It's been difficult to book in the new town but I think it's actually good that I'm slower this year so I can just enjoy pregnancy and baby!
