I stole this from another bmb and thought it was kind of cool. Now that we have all met our LOs and have gotten to know them a little bit, it'd be fun to see how we all feel about the names we chose!
Are you still happy with the name you chose?
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name?
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes! At first I was a little weary. As I filled out her birth certificate form, I was so nervous that I'd want to change my mind later but I'm thrilled, I couldn't imagine me calling her any of the other names we considered.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Mostly everyone thinks it's gorgeous, but my grandma said it sounded like a stripper name to her, but she also thought I should name her Millicent so there's that.
Do you think LO fits their name? Yes, she's such a Scarlett. I even stared at her and tried to call her the other names we thought of and none of them made any sense. Her name fits her perfectly!
Anything else you want to share? Naming human beings is hard. Much harder than I ever thought it would be. But I'm glad we went with the name we chose. It's perfect.
I still love it. I had a moment where I kind of felt bad I didn't let DH make him a IV but DH is totally ok with him having his afirst name be Ridley's middle name.
Most ppl say they like it or that its unique but one nurse told us she'd only heard it as a last name which was strange since most ppl think of Ridley Scott.
The name totally fits him! I don't really know how to explain that it does but it really does fit.
It is hard to name humans! I hope he doesn't grow up to hate his name.
Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
Still happy with it. We still couldn't decide right up until literally the day we left to go home (and I was in the hospital for almost a week!) Its so easy to spell and so short which is 2 things I really wanted with our brutal last name.
Its pronounced Eevie and some people have pronounced it as Ehvie which I understand because come to find out that's a typical pronunciation of that name, but I wasn't anticipating this being an issue because my Dumbass didn't realize that until after the fact. Oh well! Still love it and happy we chose it. Also have had a couple people ask if it's short for Evelyn which is what I guess Evie pronounced "Ehvie" is short for. Nope, it's just Evie.
It definetly fits her. We actually tried out a different name on her while still in the hospital and it didn't feel right at all. So glad we finally agreed on this one!
I was a little bummed out/nowadays kinda pissed off that I couldn't get H on board with naming her middle name after my mom, but again oh well I guess. I had wanted to be able to tell her she had her grandmother's name for a middle name when she got older and have it be a special way to remember my mom, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I still really like the middle name we chose for her anyway. I did name our other daughter, but we named our son after H's dad/uncle so I'm a little annoyed, but wanted him to like what we were naming her considering it's his kid too so that was the end of that.
Nyomi-Rose I absolutely love it. I wasn't sure about hyphenatimg the two names, but I'm really glad I did. It really fits her. Plus I did give her a middle name after my aunt who raised me, so that meant a lot to do that.
Speaking of hyphenating, a lot of people still only say Nyomi even after I say her name and Im totally fine with that too.
I call her Yomi, which is similar to my mom's name of Yumi so it makes me love the name all the more.
Yes! Ella is the only name H and I could agree on, so we really didn't have any other options lol.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name?
Not really...everyone loves her name and we get compliments that her middle name is after my late SIL. My coworker calls her Princess Ella like the movie Enchanted? Lol but I'm ok with that
Do you think LO fits their name?
I think she fits her name pretty well!
Anything else you want to share?
I agree that naming a human is hard! To take the edge of such a frilly name like Ella, I sometimes call her Ells Bells...like AC/DC's Hells Bells haha.
Very much so! We never really considered any other name (nothing else we liked!) and he's been named Henry since we got our Panorma test results back at 11 weeks.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name?
Everyone says they love his name! They love his first name as well as the flow with his middle name, Joseph.

Ive only heard passive aggressive things like - are you sure that's the name? But this was prior to his birth... now everyone's gotta learn to love it.

@Jab3 This! We are using the nickname Evy short for Evelyn and my MIL keeps pronouncing it Eh-vie. I'm like stop it's Ee-vie!! I honestly didn't realize that people would pronounce it Eh-vie. Like you said though, oh well!
I love the name and I am very happy that we didn't explore other names. Everyone says it beautiful. For some reason though I still find myself constantly referring to her as "baby sister" or "sissy". When I talk to her I say her name, but I guess when other people are around my 4yr old is as well and I just end up saying baby sister. He knows her name and is quick to tell someone so I don't know why I don't say it to him. Her name definitely fits her.
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes, we love it. We both like classic names that aren't too girly or fussy. Her middle name is after my grandmother who has advanced dementia, which feels right and special.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? I had no idea how much confusion there would be with Caroline/Carolyn. It comes up constantly.
Do you think LO fits their name? Yes! She looks like a little doll.
Anything else you want to share?
I'm so interested about when people decide on names. I couldn't imagine waiting until she was born because I thought of her as Caroline fir most of my pregnancy and it really helped me connect with her.
the other name in the running was Arya & glad we went with cora, it just seems to suit her better. we went with alice as a middle name as both mine & dhs grannys on our dads side were alice, with my granny alice passing away when cora was 3.5weeks old.

Yes! Ella is the only name H and I could agree on, so we really didn't have any other options lol.

Love the Ells Bells modification!
LO's NN is Ella, so it was fun reading your responses to the same name
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Aurelia Yes! Love love love it. I call her Ella, though. Same with DD. She has a longer name but we all just call her Feli. The longer names will probably get more use when they go to school.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? My mom. She was all "meh" about it and asked if we named LO after someone as if that would justify choosing such a weird name. Sigh. But she didn't like Feli's name, either. For about a week. And then it grew on her and now she wouldn't dream of her oldest grandkid going by any other name.
Do you think LO fits their name? As it means "the golden one", not literally, no. But I can see LO as a little punk rock fairy in her toddler years. Definitely.
Anything else you want to share? I was all for using Rory as a NN for Aurelia, but lost out to SO and DD who voted for Ella.
@grapeskittles4lyfe I love the description of little punk rock fairy! That's exactly how I picture my Ella too. It's so interesting how names fit their people lol
Are you still happy with the name you chose? I love the name! When we were in the hospital, looking at the name list, that was the only name I liked from the list after looking at him. DH started looking for new names. I told him he had the whole 9 months to look at names and he needed to go off the list of names we already picked and agreed on.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Most people like it. We have a had a few people say "oh...ok"
Do you think LO fits their name? yes, I think he looks like a little Weston or Wes.
Anything else you want to share? My 3 year old won't use Weston's name when talking about him and says his name is "new baby".
I am still so happy with the name! We wanted something older and considered Emmaline and Hermione but she is totally an Elizabeth. And Betty was my grandmother's name so I'm so glad to honor her in that way.
LO is definitely an Elizabeth and now that she is growing she's a little chunk and looks like a Betty! Such a sweet heart. She is definitely NOT a Hermione or Emmaline.
Everyone likes the name (it passes the lawyer test AND honors family) and at my baby shower, my Great Aunt (my grandma's sister) came up to me and told me how glad she was to hear we'd named LO after my grandma. She cried and then I cried and we hugged-- it was a really emotional moment. And my 94 yo grandpa just grins and grins every time we say her name bc he knows she is named after his wife.
LO is Grant and I sometimes catch myself trying out other names in my head and I'm like "stop that! It's too late!!" Feedback has been mostly very positive, though I know the grandmas didn't love it. I'm the one who picked the name so idk why I'm kind of questioning it... I think just because it's such a big commitment!
I'm very happy with the name, and it lends itself to tons of nickname potential. Maggie, Maggie Jean, Lena, MJ, etc. There are family ties on both sides for her middle name, but H and I just both really loved the first. Love it even more now!
It fits her perfectly, though we call her Maggie (and Midge, and Munch...) while she's little, I think she'll fill it out nicely as she gets older.
Apart from the spelling requests, no odd reactions. Have had several people comment on loving the name even if it is uncommon.
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes! H and I are huge racing fans and she is named after the late Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. When our friends heard her name they said it totally made sense that we would name her Senna.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? No, though she does get called Sienna at the doctor's office every time. We expected that though. I have to correct people on my name all the time and it never bothered me.
Do you think LO fits their name? Oh for sure! We had the name picked out before we even got married. We had talked about naming her Chloe for a little bit instead and I'm so glad we didnt. She is definitely not a Chloe.
Anything else you want to share? Neither of us are super thrilled with the flow of her middle name. H vetoed every middle name I came up with so she didn't have a middle name until about 10 minutes before we left the hospital. It was the only name we were both OK with.
So happy with the name. Coincidentally, a university friend had a son in December and named their baby Lochlan (spelling variation). At first, I was like "are you effing kidding me?!" But my H and I talked about it and decided to stick with Lachlan, because a) we love the name b) we had picked it out ages ago and c) we are not close with this friend anymore (no animosity, just went different ways after school). And boy am I glad we did, because this little guy is definitely a Lachlan.
It was kind of strange being team green and having names for both sexes. Up until he was an outside baby he was also named Audrey. The first time saying his name out loud to his face was a surreal experience.
Yes! I am glad we didn't go with anything else. We had considered Henry, Charles, Samuel and a couple others, but I was always sure it would be Nathaniel.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name?
No, everyone loves it!
Do you think LO fits their name?
Yes. We call him Nate, or Big Nate, lol
Anything else you want to share?
We used John in honor of my Grandpa who died when I was 17. He was the husband of my Grandmother who passed away when Nate was a week old. She was so thrilled we were using John and at her funeral, it was a big hit with family.
Married - 7/29/06 Ben and Maggie - 4/10/09 Mia - 6/16/11 Surprise! due 2/23/17
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes! I couldn't imagine calling him anything else.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? We get a lot of "Are you shortening it to Harry or using his full name?" We introduce him as Harrison, so we intend on him being called Harrison.
Do you think LO fits their name? Yes. Everyone says he looks like a little old man and the name suits him. Anything else you want to share? I'm so glad DU agreed to the name finally. He was against any name that ends in an "n" because all my nieces and our DD have names that end in "n" and it drives him crazy when my mom calls for them all at once. But he agreed that he loved the name and it fits well with our last name.
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes! I was stuck on the name Addison for the first half of my pregnancy but now I'm so glad H only liked Amelia
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Nope! Everyone seems to love it. We didn't tell anyone her name until she was born though so they didn't really have a chance to comment
Do you think LO fits their name? Definitely. Just something about it seems perfect. We still haven't decided for sure on what her actual nickname will be if we decide to use one (currently debating Mia) but for now my husband just likes to call her "peanut"

My Amelia goes by Mia and it suits her perfectly. Millie, Amy, Lia are the only other nicknames I could think of to go with it.
Married - 7/29/06 Ben and Maggie - 4/10/09 Mia - 6/16/11 Surprise! due 2/23/17
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes, I love it. I feel like it's a great mix of traditional but spunky and still sweet.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Not since she was born but one of my good friends hated it when I told her about it. She said it was a cute baby name but she couldn't see it on an adult. She's since changed her opinion.
Do you think LO fits their name? I do! It's the most classic name out of all of our kids but it fits her sweet little face so well! We thought about Nadia, Hilde, and Anya but those don't suit her.
Anything else you want to share? cant wait for May for the SSA to release the baby name popularity list
DD1- Aug11 Angel Baby- June13, said goodbye Oct12 DD2- Aug13 DD3- due Feb17
I still love it. People ask me all the time if we spell it like the month. Umm, yes. I can't imagine a spechul snowflake spelling of August.
I always thought DS1 would call him Gus Gus like the chubby mouse on Cinderella. But he doesn't seem to get the idea of nicknames - "No mommy, hims name is August!"
My sister calls him Augie which I HATE. But I don't correct her because I don't think it will stick beyond the tiny baby phase and I remember when my brother told us we couldn't call his daughter Mimi when her name is Melanie (her big sister called her Mimi and we all started using it too). We eye rolled pretty hard at that lame rule so I'm trying not to be that person over Augie.
Are you still happy with the name you chose? It's still kind of weird because we were so set on Amelia (for our girl option) until the very end of the pregnancy. Something kind of clicked in the last couple of weeks and I just switched to Quinn all of a sudden. I'm still happy that we chose it.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? My mom said she'd never heard of the name, which I thought was weird because I don't think it's that uncommon.
Do you think LO fits their name? I don't really have any preconceived ideas about the characteristics that go with Quinn, so I'm not sure.
Anything else you want to share? After Quinn arrived, I sent a text to my sister with the name. She replied asking if it was a girl or boy. Even though we had considered Quinn for either, once we had a girl, I just expected everyone to realize it was a girl's name.
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Absolutely! /this name wasn't even on the original list. But one day my H said it and it stuck. Then I heard our son say it and I was completely sold on it!
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Every comment on her name is positive. They all say its so pretty and they don't hear that name very often.
Do you think LO fits their name? She sure does. Our original name pick was Phoebe but Anna is most definitely her name.
Anything else you want to share? Everyone also thinks her and her brother's names are so cute together - Gus (Augustus) and Anna we think so too
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Nope! MIL was visibly disappointed that we didn't use James for a MN but seems to be over it by now.
Do you think LO fits their name? Yes, it really suits him!
Anything else you want to share? Every time I looked at him for the first few days I couldn't get "Sebastian" out of my head, even though it was never even under consideration. Very strange! Now he's just Sam though.
Clara Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes! I have always loved this name, and it was one of two names that DH and I had in common when we compared lists of ten names. We called my belly both for a couple of weeks (the other was Zoe) and Clara just seemed to stick, and sounds great with our last name. Plus, as Doctor Who fans, it was an easy decision.
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? I have so far had two people misread her name aloud as "Carla," which we weren't expecting. It's only a little annoying. And props to my Mom, who when I mentioned the name to her years ago when naming a kid wasn't at all an issue said, "you mean like the crippled cousin in Heidi?" She has not at all made that comment since DD was born, and has only told us how beautiful the name is.
Do you think LO fits their name? Absolutely. She has the most exquisite lips I have ever seen, and she eats with her pinkie in the air.
Anything else you want to share? As other people have pointed out, naming a person is a huge responsibility, but also really fun! I'm already thinking about what sibling names would match.

Are you still happy with the name you chose? I have always liked the name Austin, but for some reason it didn't feel right this whole pregnancy. I really wanted to name him William, and use Will as a nn. Instead we went with Austin, and though I do still like the name Austin, I can still imagine calling him Will instead. I wonder how long it will take to feel the this was definitely the right name feeling?
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name? Sort of, we haven't gotten any weird comments but when we tell people his name, they just stare blankly for a few seconds before asking his middle name. When we say Reid, they repeat it with a really?? tone in their voice. Then they say "how is that spelled? R-E-E-D? Then when we correct them, they literally go huh like they are surprised. Maybe it's because we didn't decide on his name until about 4 weeks before birth, and picked his middle name while we were in the hospital?
Do you think LO fits their name? I'm not sure yet, due to still preferring William for him.
Anything else you want to share? despite liking the name William, it really doesn't flow with our other kids' names. We have Taylor, and Kayli... William sounded too long, formal, and classic compared to their name. Lol
We have Abigail Lee. I love, love, love Abigail! It's such a sweet, beautiful name and our little Abby is just that. We call her Abigail, Abby, Sweetpea, Pumpkin, and Baby Abby. Her middle name is the same as H's middle name, and his late mother's middle name. I personally wanted to go with something a little girlier, like Joy or Grace, but I know how important it was to H to name our only daughter after his mother who he lost to cancer 11 years ago. I have accepted it, and she's my little Abby Lee
@tishb story about the name Lee... One of my sister's middle name is Lee (and my H and our oldest son lol) but growing up she always had people tell her that it was a "boys name" because of the spelling, and she would ask my parents why they spelled it that way. As she grew up though, she absolutely loves her middle name, and she ended up giving it to her oldest daughter as a middle name too!
@tishb and @kswiger06 My grandmas' middle names were Lee and Ann so my middle name is LeeAnn and I love it! Love that it is a waynof honoring my grandmothers
Very Much so! I love his name and I love that I was able to convince DH to let his middle name be Maverick. His aunt calls him Mav, I approve. I love that when he's freaking out I can be like "You're going ballistic Mav!" or "You're never going to be happy unless you're going Mach 2 with your hair on fire!"
Have you gotten any weird or unexpected comments to the name?
Yeah, a handful of people have responded with "Oh...like, from the Bible?" No, like from Star Wars! Lol, but in all seriousness, I had forgotten there was a Cainan in the Bible, oops.
Do you think LO fits their name?
I definitely think it fits him! I can't imagine calling him anything else!
Re: Name Follow Up
Are you still happy with the name you chose?

As it means "the golden one", not literally, no. But I can see LO as a little punk rock fairy in her toddler years. Definitely.
Anything else you want to share?
I was all for using Rory as a NN for Aurelia, but lost out to SO and DD who voted for Ella.
@Janefelicity We were thisclose to naming her Cora, so we both would have had Cora Alices. Weird!
Nathaniel John
Are you still happy with the name you chose?
Ben and Maggie - 4/10/09
Mia - 6/16/11
Surprise!
Ben and Maggie - 4/10/09
Mia - 6/16/11
Surprise!
Everyone also thinks her and her brother's names are so cute together - Gus (Augustus) and Anna we think so too
Are you still happy with the name you chose? Yes!
Are you still happy with the name you chose?

Lol
Name: Kanan Maverick
Are you still happy with the name you chose?
