Anybody up for some "get to know you" questions? (I borrowed some of these from the April IVF board)

    1. How did you and your SO meet?

    2. What's your favorite way to spend downtime/alone time?

    3. What's your favorite place to vacation? Where is your dream vacation location?

    1) DH and I met at a mutual friends wedding, the bride is my sorority sister (AXO) and DH went to junior high and high school with both the bride and groom.  We hung out that night and the next week had our first date to a Royals game.  We racked up a 5k minute phone bill the next month (back before unlimited minutes) and have been together ever since.

    2) If I have any down time I am either binge watching something on Netflix or I'm reading a book, (probably YA fiction b/c my inner 15 year old is in charge of my book selections)

    3) My favorite place to vacation is London.  Hands down my favorite city in the world.  I studied abroad in the UK in college (Harlaxton which is in the East Midlands by Nottingham) and we flew in and out of London for all our weekend trips, I fell in love with the city and have been back several times since then (including DH's first overseas trip). My dream vacation would probably be one of those over water bungalows in Bali or Tahiti or spending a few weeks in Australia (pure relaxation vacation vs .sightseeing/touring vacation)

Hello everyone! I will be closing out the month with an FET likely on either April 26 or 27.

We are using frozen (anonymous) donor eggs from My Egg Bank and will be able to use DH's sperm for fertilization. I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and no living children. After never having conception problems, we spent last year working with the best RE in our area who specializes in RPL, but all of a sudden couldn't get pregnant to save our lives. We determined that we are also dealing with moderate MFI and the doc DX me as having secondary IF.

    So, here we are.

This will be my first transfer and I am anxious as anything since we are paying out of pocket and this is our likely our last shot at having children.

I look forward to tracking our progress together!

As for GTKY - I love it! Definitely appreciate the chance to get to know you all better.

    1. How did you and your SO meet?
We met at a mutual friend's going away party in 2006 and were definitely attracted to each other right away, but he is five years younger than me, so I kinda wrote him off. We did start hanging out and casually dating, but then I broke it off to date someone who "looked better on paper" as DH now explains it. That ended quickly and I went back to DH and we started dated again, only for me to break up with him again because I could tell he was serious about me and I was not. Two months later I realized how stupid I was being and went back... head over heels, heart in my hands.

    2. What's your favorite way to spend downtime/alone time?
I love to turn Pandora on and read - not always books, more long form journalism than anything. Or I listen to podcasts.... Has anyone else already listed to S-Town in its entirety?!? I also love to watch girl TV or any Dateline/48 Hours/20/20 type show when DH is away.

    3. What's your favorite place to vacation? Where is your dream vacation location?
Favorite: NYC - love to visit, wouldn't love to live there.
    Dream: Month-long tour of Europe.

JuliaGoolia719 - I would love to spend time in London! But, I also appreciate the thought of having a full-on relaxing vacation. Tahiti would be incredible!

fivetimesnoluck  a spreadsheet would be great!  For vacations we try to alternate between beachy/relaxation and touristy sightseeing vacations, we've come to grips that once this (hopefully) works that our vacations will look very different for a while!

    1. How did you and your SO meet?  Our story starts with "one drunkin night"... I was at a friends party and really tired of the guy I was kinda seeing. I told my friend to go find me someone new and he brought me my DH. lol 10yrs later here we are.

    2. What's your favorite way to spend downtime/alone time? I really don't have my downtime in my life seriously. But I love to bake and sew when I can.

    3. What's your favorite place to vacation? Where is your dream vacation location? My favorite place to vaca is pretty much anywhere with a Zoo. I LOVE going to the zoo we go to some local ones here several times a year. My dream vaca would be to Germany.

@JuliaGoolia719 We always joke around about starting our story out that way. We were both drunk on Jungle juice, he lost a contact at some point, so he could only half way see, I was going hunting the following early early morning (how do you explain that to a new guy)  some how in all that crazyness it's been a good 10 years with some more crazyness.  At least saying you met at a wedding is a classic story open to interpretation as to if you were drunk or not lol.

Ladies! Thanks for the info! I started day 1! I start estradiol tomorrow 3x/day as well as a baby aspirin! First appt will be on 4/13 and FET will be on 4/20. Our first round of IVF fresh cycle w/ ICSI did not take with 1 embryo transferred - rated perfect! We are going to be very serious about them transferring 2 embryos this time. We have a total of 5 frozen currently & did not do PGS testing. Is is anyone doing assisted hatching with your transfers? We haven't talked with the doctors about it, I just received paperwork to sign off on allowing them. I need to learn more.
  • Options
@krenee124 Congrats on Day 1! I have never wanted to see AF so much in my life....

I don't know yet if assisted hatching will be necessary, but I was pleased to learn that the clinic includes ICSI and assisted hatching (if necessary) for up to 8 eggs. I too need to learn more about why they do it and how it impacts outcomes.

@krenee124 I'm so jealous I'm dying for day one over here. We have 4 frosties left 1 5d and 3 6d none PGS tested. We did ICSI and have always had assisted hatching. I don't know much info or statistics about the assisted hatching. Our RE recommends it for frozen embryos.

Hi ladies..unfortunately I'm hopping over onto this board. We just did FET #1 in March and it didn't work. Now, I wait for day 1 and we can go right into the next FET. We are lucky enough to have 6 PGD normal frozen embryos.

I just wish I knew what the problem is and why nothing has worked...my RE really thought this would take..

I know my RE prefers single embryo transfer, but I'm debating pushing for 2 next time. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I know my Dr said that since we PGS tested that they really don't want to transfer more than one, since there would be a high chance of a multiples pregnancy.  When the embryologist called to tell me the PGS results she made it sound like if we pushed we could transfer both at the same time.  I think we'll end up doing one this month.....

Hey! So I'm jumping in a little late I think...I'm a part of the march IVF group because that's when I thought I was going to be doing a fresh transfer. I'll try to make this as short as possible, in March I had egg retrieval the 13th and were going to do a day 5 fresh transfer. 10 retrieved 6 mature and 6 fertilized through ICSI, the next day we got a call that one didn't make it and 2 fragmented a little but they weren't ruling them out yet. 2 days later those ones that fragmented got worse so then it was down to 3...the day of transfer as I was walking out the door I got the call that they weren't ready and we couldn't transfer this cycle and I was devistated. Next day got another call saying only one made it to blast, but it's perfect, my little fighter. So they froze it and now I'm on estradiol and baby aspirin, ultrasound and bloodwork the 7th, then I'll be starting  PIO shots with our FET on the 17th! Praying my little fighter survives the thaw and sticks! This whole IVF journey is so hard I really don't want to start again

    1) How did you and your SO meet?
we met through 2 mutual friends but ultimately met face to face for the first time at church

I'm a movie buff so I love just sitting down, ordering sushi or make popcorn and watch movies

    3) What's your favorite place to vacation? Where is your dream vacation location?
My husband and I's favorite vacation spot was the French Quarter New Orleans! Amazing. And I would say my dream vacation would be to Scotland

@Rachel_leigh22 welcome to the board! If all goes according to plan we'll be transfer buddies!
one of our good friends works for AMC theatres and gave us a friends and family pass so we can go see movies for free, it's fantastic! Last year I think we saw about 35 movies in the theatre (we're not on track to repeat it for this year, we need to step it up!)

My clinic does not like to transfer 2 embryos. They said absolutely not on our fresh cycle. We are going to be very firm on transferring 2 embryos this time.
The way I look at it- there are risks for twins but people do it every single day. I'm a healthy person now and plan to continue my routine.even if it's a 2% chance increase, I'm spending roughly 8,000 this FET and do not have a money tree. We are still trying for baby #1. This would be Andrea come true to have one or two babies but I need every % i can get!!
  • Options
@krenee124 That's my thing- we basically used up our insurance on the last cycle. I do understand the risks with twins..but I agree with you, people do it everyday. I have to talk to my RE who I know won't like the idea- I believe they say that transferring 2 doesn't increase chances of pregnancy..if this is true then that's a different story I suppose! We're on baby #1 too and are both healthy- I really don't get it!!

stbollinger good luck!!  SO exciting :)

I can post here now!  I got the call today, 1 of the 2 embryos we sent for PGS is normal so I'm assuming I'll have an April transfer.  I got my post ER period yesterday and already had my day 3 scan scheduled for tomorrow so I will hopefully get a tentative transfer date.

@JuliaGoolia719 awesome! It'd be nice to have a transfer buddy...I have an ultrasound, bloodwork and PIO injection class Friday. I'm so jealous! I would love to have a pass to see movies for free! They're so expensive that we rarely go. I agree, you gotta step up your movie game lol

@kris031409 we only have 1 to transfer also, does that make you nervous at all? Only having one and it surviving the thaw and sticking? I'm so nervous about it all

Rachel_leigh22 I'm trying to stay hopeful about the one we have!  The statistics are great for a PGS FET, but I am still soooo nervous!

I had my day 3 today, starting ~3 weeks of estrogen pills and patches, then 6 days of progesterone.  So my FET will most likely be the first week of May, but I'll hang out here until there's a May FET.

Rachel_leigh22 I have bloodwork/ultrasound on Monday (the 10th), assuming everything looks good I'll start the PIO shots a few days later.  I'm so freaking nervous.  All the time and money comes down to this month and I swear I feel like I'm going to come out of my skin with nerves.

The anxiety after FET was the worst part!! Hang in there girls!

I'm still waiting for my period (spotting since Sunday night). Come on already! My RE called me yesterday to discuss FET#1 and protocol for #2. She wants to repeat the saline ultrasound after my period to investigate a polyp in my cervix (she's not sure if we're going to do hysteroscopy to remove it yet). She said it might not matter since it's not in my uterus. Ahh!

So she's going to start me on birth control once period starts so that we can still transfer this month if all is fine with ultrasound. So worst case, transfer gets pushed to May.

@Rachel_leigh22 I only have one frozen embryo as well and I am CRAZY anxious about it! I think once it survives the thaw I will feel a little better.
