  • @MJDsquared Hope you get some positive results back soon!

@DuchessOfCambridge I started a new job in Dec and I don't qualify for FML until I have been working for a year so I want to make sure that I hit the one year mark before I go on maternity leave. Otherwise I won't be entitled to the 12 weeks and I could in theory risk losing my job. I'm not so much worried about them firing me as I am them wanting me to come back sooner. There is also a 30 day notice requirement so I am just trying to time things with caution. The other part is, I am in a probationary period at work until June so I don't want anyone to know I am KU until after that passes just in case people do suck that much. However, this is all assuming that I'm a special snowflake and get KTFU right away anyway... so it really may be a non issue in the end but I didn't want to risk it.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge It's a doughnut. Fasnacht is the traditional German name. Around here Fat Tuesday is also known as doughnut day because they were made the day before Lent to get rid of lard/butter, sugar and fats prior to fasting for Lent.

@JJMNO1616 I'm kind of newly off the pill, too. It's super frustrating. Fx that everything works itself out soon!

  • @JJMNO1616 congrats! enjoy the house hunt! I know some employers exclude maternity leave from the 1 year requirement, we had someone in our department that was hired in December and went on leave in June. I don't know if it varies company to company.

@mispanda great idea about the booze for Lent. we typically take a trip with my ILs for spring break/Easter and I know they will be suspicious if I don't drink.

    @Sailing_Mama FX for you!

@SoldiersMom thanks for that tip about the water app. I just downloaded it. I had asked one of my coworkers to constantly ask me if I've been drinking my water, but you know, work gets in the way

  • @MJDsquared Ugh so sorry girl. Did your doctor give you any insight on what you may be able to do about being anovulatory?
  • @JJMNO1616 I can't really complain too much because I haven't been to see an RE yet. I'm still just using my OB. I was on letrozole this cycle (second cycle on it) and I'll take it one more time at an increased dosage and then I'm going to an RE. I was freaking out before this cycle about how we're wasting time and need to see an RE, but even after this next cycle I don't think we'll be able to afford all that testing (it will be 100% OOP for me)...so who knows, we may be benched. So I figure we'll just finish this out and see what happens...

  • @BertieMeetsGertie Those fish sticks are the reason I generally don't like fish!  Although I do still love tuna casserole!

@justkeepswimming8 If the issue is due to bad workmanship/wear and tear (even though the house is only 4 years old) or if it is something that was caused over time, homeowners insurance does not cover it.  You can always call your agent to double check; however, if you submit a claim and they don't pay anything, some companies do consider that a claim and you can end up with higher premiums because of it so I would think hard about it before deciding if you want to do that.  FYI I have my insurance license in my state (Ohio) and I've been working in insurance for nearly 12 years so this is all from my personal experience.    Good luck!  Also, welcome :)

@Avrilmai My employer actually does have a Maternity policy outside of FML so I would technically qualify for that but there isn't as much protection. It's kind of up to my department's discretion to approve it and for how long. Without going into too much detail I have some concerns about that.

ETA- Now you have me wondering if I'm just being over caucus and should just GDTPT already.  :D I may be having a convo with DH about it later.

@MJDsquared You can complain all you want! I know I would be complaining. I'm mad at my body right now and I've only been off BC 2 months. It's hard not to worry about this stuff. Sorry to hear about the OOP expense  :(  FX this is your month!

@MJDsquared sorry about the an-O cycle. I think getting to the RE sooner rather than later is a good idea. I just started all my testing too and everything is OOP for me as well but it wasn't as bad as I expected. For the testing my RE tried to use diagnoses not related to infertility to see if my insurance would cover anything and gave me a 20% discount on everything that I pay out of pocket for. The most expensive thing will be th HSG which is about $600 and of course if we need any sort of medication or procedures after that it will be much more expensive and completely OOP but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

@mispanda I knew it was a holiday I would like. Fat Tuesday coupled with CD1 sounds like a very bad combination for me though. I'm glad I didn't know about it before today because I'd probably be in a sugar coma by now.

ETA I just found out I won't get the SA results until we meet with the RE again and I have to get all our testing done before that. Really don't want to go through another fertile week not knowing if we are just wasting our time. Called DH and pretty much demanded that he get his blood work done so we can meet with the RE next week after my HSG.
  • @lulu1180 I'm about to order some tea and get some pom juice on my way home tonight. Must do all the things.
@JJMNO1616 That makes total sense, and is really smart of you. I totally get not wanting coworkers to know before you're ready for them to know. I started my job 7 months ago and plan to hide my pregnancy for as long as I can once I get KU (which is hopefully soon). I'm sure it won't look amazing that I'm KU soon after I start and will be taking ML buttt I'm not going to plan my family around what work might think. Though I definitely would plan it around ML benefits like you are! I hope you are a total special snowflake and get KU right away!
@SoldiersMom Ooo I see, I kind of wish I had one of those right now! Also downloaded that water app! I've had 24 oz so far and about to go refill my water bottle.
@MJDsquared Sorry for the negative OPK :(
@BertieMeetsGertie I'm so excited about it!! Absolutely cannot wait til this summer.
@justkeepswimming8 Welcome! I'm in the same boat as you, love talking about TTC here because no one knows we are :) We don't want to put pressure on ourselves by telling people and having them ask about it and we also think some people may have opinions and we'd prefer not to hear them, ha. We have enough baby money saved for the first year and are both ready so we're going for it and TB is the best resource ever. Agreed on hating about lying to people - I wish they'd stop asking though!
@safire3 ugh so annoying you have to wait. FX you can meet with your RE next week and get good results! Or at the very least, some answers.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Just a warning if you've never tried pom juice, it's pretty tart and, to be honest, I don't care for the taste.  I just chug down a glass a day as quick as I can to get it done.

  • @dragonfly87 That's a lot of pom juice!  I'm not sure if I'll ever like the taste.  Then again I didn't care for the taste of green tea when I started drinking it so who knows.  Although I'll only drink it until a few days after O because I think I read something that it could possibly cause contractions of the uterus which are obviously not beneficial for implantation.  Oops....it's pomegranate extract but I'm still not taking any chances.  Here are the links!

  • I don't drink RRLT @DuchessOfCambridge so I can't really say and I haven't done as much research since I'm not using it currently

  • @DuchessOfCambridge I just started drinking RRL and I did read that some women drink it towards the end of their pregnancy to try to induce contractions but it seems like it may be a bit of a wise tail (although if anyone has any articles on this please send my way). My plan is to drink the RRL until O.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge Red Raspberry Leaf tea is said to cause uterine contractions as well, which is why some midwives recommend it in the third trimester to help with labor. It is supposed to help smooth and tone the uterus, and many mostly drink it before O. There isn't definitive evidence on whether to drink for all of pregnancy, but some women do without issues.

@lulu1180 Hmm, interesting. I just drink it daily now, but not sure...that is about the extract and seed...so who knows. I have noticed that the cycle I drank it daily, I had a normal AF compared to my 1.5 day spotty AF. But could have been a coincidence.
  • @lulu1180 oops sorry for assuming, but thanks for the great info on pom juice

  • @Caprine89 the king cake baby has a lot of different meanings depending on who you ask/ what you read. The most common one is that whoever gets the baby buys the next king cake. @dragonfly87 evening primrose oil helps with desert like conditions down there. Research it a bit. They're pills that I'd imagine can be purchased at any drug store.  You can take them up until ovulation. I used it a few months and noticed a difference the following day (took mine at night). I didn't have an issue, so it may be different if you're unusually desert like for few days, but I tried them as a 'what'll it hurt' addition for a bit and they seem legit!
