It's so hot here (Orlando) and I want her to be comfortable in the car seat. Depending on when we get discharged it could be a 30-60 min drive (thanks traffic). So I'm thinking a light cotton romper with a light muslin over her.
For my son, we will do an outfit that matches hers. For some reason I can't get on board with a big brother shirt.
@Mother0fDragons I wasn't sure about the big bro/big sis shirts, I found ones that I would love to show you but my pics aren't working, that say big, middle and little. I would get two Garnett and one gold of course!

@Mother0fDragons I will probably use it more for a photo shoot. I may just get a cute gender neutral outfit to bring baby home in. Or I could just be over thinking everything.

We found a onsie on cafe press that says, "Team 'last name' what's your super power." This will be her going home outfit. I am also buying a big brother/little sister shirt from etsy but I am using those for in the hospital when DS meets DD for the first time."

I just picked out some clothes for the hospital over the weekend! I'm bringing 2 NB sleepers; one has a kitty on it because of her kitty brothers and the other one is the first thing I bought after we found out I was pregnant! I was also going to bring a onesie that says "Born in 2017" that I got her for Christmas in 3 mo and a kitty onesie in NB with little jeggings! I'm debating whether to use the onesie with pants because of the umbilical cord. I also have a kitty romper that I think I'll bring if it's really hot. Do you sense the kitty theme!? haha
@alm52386 You can easily flip down the waistband on pants to accommodate the cord. It's not as fragile as it might seem. I'm planning to use pants for this LO's going home outfit.
I'm planning on taking baby girl home in some footy pajamas. I want her to be comfortable (of course she won't really know the difference) and I don't want to stress about accidentally pinching her brand new skin in the car seat.
My oldest told me Josephine needs to wear their "rainbow butt" romper she picked out first. So that's probably what we will put her in. I never really worried much about a specific going home outfit.
Mom to Madison- 5 and Lillian 2....and now surprise baby #3!
I bought some carters brand little sister floral footie pjs that she will come home in. I also have a cute swaddle with matching bow for the hospital. I have some "picture worthy" matching white sibling shirts and polka dot skirts for the kids to match but not sure if we will do it at the hospital when they meet or later at home.
I'm bringing 2 different footie sleepers. They're both newborn size but one is a little bigger than the other. Do I really need a 3 month option as well? I find it hard to believe that my baby won't fit in newborn size...

@wifeinraleigh28 yes, there is a chance baby will need 0-3. DS was one ounce shy of 8 lbs. and wore newborn in the NICU. He left 2 weeks later at 8.5 lbs. wearing 0-3.....so babies 8 or 9 lbs. might need a bigger size. On top of this, the size associated with the labels on baby/toddler clothes vary SO much. DS has 4T pants that run from an inch too short to 4 inches too long.

Thanks @kahlan82 and @Stankonia2014. Forgot to mention that the reason I doubt it'll be an issue is because they're inducing me at 39 weeks... but I guess there's still a chance!

@wifeinraleigh28 My son was 8.12lbs and was able to wear newborn for a couple weeks. I think most of his weight was in his length and head though lol. 0-3 was too big for him and I wish I would have purchased newborn for his going home outfit.
Thanks ladies, I packed a 0-3 month outfit in my hospital bag too. So we have 3 options now. The clothes are so tiny it's not like it's a big deal to pack an extra

The outfit we got is 0-3. My son was 7 lbs 3 oz and the last time they measured her she was about 4 oz ahead of him weightwise. Should I bring a backup newborn size? Will she be swimming in 0-3 if she's a mid-7 pounder?

Mine was. He was 7lb15oz and I bought a 0-3 outfit thinking 0=Newborn. He really swam in it for a good month.
DS didn't really fit in a 0-3 (other than some Old Navy/Gap) until he weighed about 8.5 lbs, somewhere around a month old. Keep in mind they lose some weight in that first day or two after they are born.
@Mother0fDragons Dd was an ounce shy of seven pounds, and her newborn clothes were mostly a little big on her at first. She wasn't in 0-3 months until she was a couple months old.
Brands also very in size quite a bit. Grerber is one of the smallest, and Carter's and Old Navy are much bigger. DD was 7lbs 2.5oz, and Gerber newborn fit her the best in the beginning. She swam in her 0-3 jammies.
Old Navy also has the "up to 7lbs" size. I actually find both Gap and Old Navy to run a little small and Carter's to be bigger. I think it must depend on where the weight is on each particular kiddo.
I've also noticed that Gerber onesies are really skinny. Carters brand seem to be the same length but wider. I bought a pack of Gerber NB onesies and I was like shit, I hope she fits in these!
Adeline is wearing the gerber newborn onesies. She's 4lbs5oz but 17 inches long. She's also wearing Carters newborn sleep and plays. They're fine length wise but roomy everywhere else. Preemie clothes don't fit her at all because of her length.

Yeah, in my experience Gerber onsies are narrow and just all around run small, but their zip-up pjs (like Carter's sleep and plays)are super wide. I don't understand that at all. I think I am going to bring a couple Gerber newborn kimono style t-shirts to the hospital though, because the hospital where dd was born only had 0-3 mo ones and they were freaking huge on her. I had to cuff the sleeves almost all the way up to her armpits!
@TGmomtobe90. Both adorable. I am partial to the overalls.

We went with the bug theme this time. With DS I brought a newborn outfit and he was too long for me to snap at the bottom. We went home a hot mess haha!
Daisy will be coming home in this flamingo sleeper with the matching hat DD Charlotte wore a flamingo sleeper on her first day so I figured we would do something similar with DD2. I have a backup 0-3m sleeper that's a blue floral in case she's a big girl!

share pics of what you have officially picked for going home! I need inspiration.
