Nausea at WORK!

Forgive me if this is already a thread.

This is my first pregnancy, so I wasn't sure what to expect with the nausea. I seem to be useless at work. I feel like I'm car sick 24/7, and on the verge of loosing my cookies every hour or so. I've got ginger tea, snacks, and sour candies. All of which only help temporarily.

How are you ladies keeping it together at work?!

Re: Nausea at WORK!

  • Try chewing gum! I know it sounds odd, but it keeps me from gagging/getting sick. I'm a teacher and gum has been a lifesaver for me...so far! I'm only 5w6d. Good luck!

  • I am SO nauseous at work. I just want to crawl into bed and sleep it off! Also, i'm exhausted!

  • I am so nauseous at work too. It sucks. I spent the morning driving with coworkers to a meeting, and I had to make myself fall asleep because the nausea was extreme. Last night, I found leftover Zofram from my last pregnancy. I took one today and now finally feel normal again. I plan to ask my midwife for a new prescription when I have my first appointment. It's the only way I survived last pregnancy.

  • Are you keeping food in your tummy? Try snacking lightly, that helps me keep it at bay. Even a few saltine crackers every hour work wonders.

@grkgdss00 Yes, I am doing my best to snack frequently. Although sometimes it seems to be triggered by food, so I am at a loss. I may need give my OB a call if I can't find relief.

  • I am feeling the same way. I recently started taking diclegis & it has helped a lot. I am still having some nausea. Gum, hard candy, and orange juice have helped. I seem to be craving OJ a lot. Also snacks to keep on hand that have helped are watermelon & raw carrots. They're healthy & I find them both to be hydrating without leaving an aftertaste in my mouth. I hope this helps :/
  • I'm useless too.  It feels like the worst variety of hangover, only worse because I could cure hangovers with fatty foods and OJ, both of which sound repulsive right now.  I don't want to take the nausea meds so I guess I'm resigning myself to a couple months of uselessness.
  • Minty gum. All that's helped me so far. And toast.
  • Peppermint helps me.

  • I used the sea bands my first time around. Helped a bit. Ultimately it was so bad I had to take time off work - and I'm able to work from home! Zofran was ultimately the only thing that helped me. And cheez-its lol

  • I jinxed myself. A couple of days ago I was commenting on hows it's weird to be pregnant and feel totally normal.

Not more than an hour later the nausea kicked in and hasn't stopped. I feel miserable, exhausted and awful headaches. Ugh. Pregnancy #4 and this is probably the worst I've felt. Never thrown up. Going to try real hard to not start now. Its awful though. I feel completely useless.
  • I have said it before and I will say it again. Unisom and B6 = magic. My MS is 99% gone.
  • I have to be snacking all day or I'm useless. I went in to the break room today to get my yogurt and was seriously dry heaving over the smell of something that had been cooked in the microwave. Like even the thought of drinking water gets me sometimes
  • Vitamin B6!!!!!!!! 100mg every morning (as recommended by my doctor). I still have some nausea and vomiting. But it's taking place in the later afternoon/early evening now. Way easier to manage!

  • @Dinosaur what is unisom, and where might i find it?

  • @emwj10187 - Unisom is a sleep aid that you can find in any drug store. Take 25 mg every night before you go to bed.

For B6 take 25 mg every 8 hours. You can buy 25 mg on Amazon, they only sell 50 or 100 in the store.

It's magic. I was so sick and now I feel totally normal. Obviously talk to your doctor first!
  • I second using the sea sickness bands!  It really helped me with my nausea during my last pregnancy.  I still didn't really have an appetite, but I could at least function somewhat normally.
