and I bought an 8" stick.  I'm making rattles for a baby shower, so there is a ball on each end.  8" seems too long, do you think that I should shorten them to 6" or 4"?

Proportion wise it might be a bit long, but I doubt anyone will notice. They'll be too busy devouring them.

This, but if you do go out and get different stick, 4inches is too short.

Well, I cut some to 4" and put the ball into the chocolate, and the mother effer fell off into it.  Grr!  So now the rest are resting in the fridge so that they can firm up.
