weekly symptoms 2/20

How's everyone feeling this week? What's new and what's gone from last week??

Sorry if someone is 'assigned' to start this, but starting because I have a new one this week : calf cramps. Ugh. They have been waking me up in the middle of the night the past few nights.

Re: weekly symptoms 2/20

  • A new symptom this week for me is sex becoming uncomfortable, just feeling dry and it's a bit painful. This happened with my first too, and the fun ends here on out for me.

@Rae1 I have to say the calf cramps in the middle of the night were the worst. Although it didn't start for me til about 30w with my last, I was told stretching and more water helps a lot. Which it definitely did.
  • Lots of movement in the last week or so. Nothing else really new for me!
  • Loading the player...
  • @Rae1 Lots of water! My midwife told me if I think I drink a lot of water to drink one more glass. Lol

    So much sinus drainage...
  • @lm1007 @alcrimmins I drink so much water!! I guess I will have to start drinking even more! I am really prone to calf cramps as it is. Pre-pregnancy, pretty much every time I drank alcohol, I would wake up in the morning with them!

  • I've got a charley horse/cramp in my right thigh that just. won't. quit. Can't figure out how to make it go away! I drink all the water but it doesn't seem to help.
  • Omg the water for me too. I seriously think I'm drinking at least 12 bottles a day, and I'm still always thirsty. I was getting concerned. I'm also dealing with just general indigestion now, which is a good time. My digestive system hates pregnancy.

Lets see, what else. I haven't posted here in awhile. I get random soreness in my hips/lower abdomen/upper abdomen/back. Nothing that lasts. Still have headaches sometimes, but that's mostly TMJ or I'm having a bad food aversion day and I'm hungry. Still getting cravings and food aversions. I have had a lot more energy, but it's not anywhere near what I would have pre-pregnancy. Occasional leg or foot cramps, nothing to bad yet. Oh, and the frequent urination. This baby loves laying on my bladder, so not only do I have to pee more than normal, but sometimes it goes from "I don't have to pee at all" to "I have to pee right this second". And I'm losing bladder control. I thought it was a little early for this(20 weeks on Wednesday), but ok. Also still have lots of blood in my nose. And my sex drive is still not back to normal. I'll get really horny for a couple days, and then I'm not interested at all for a couple days, which is weird for me.

YES - every time I blow my nose (which is a lot) it's bloody. Weird.

I also think I have been having BH contractions. Sometimes my whole uterus just gets really, really hard. It doesn't necessarily hurt, but it just feels like a lot of pressure. FTM so I really have nothing to compare to, but I don't know what else it could be besides BH.

Alcohol dehydrates you, so it would make sense. I think even more water is your best bet!

Oh for sure. When it was due to alcohol (before pregnancy) I knew it was dehydration. Which I am sure that is still the case. I am just shocked, because of how much water I drink now (plus the lack of alcohol lol).

  • @kerils I think we're the same person!  Jeez, I could have written that post.

Also, I keep getting random twang pains in my right breast.  They were happening pre-pregnancy, too, which made me switch to wireless bras, but they're more painful now.

@Rae1  @MamaRN13 - I haven't had any cramps like that (yet) but I remember a friend saying she took a warm bath right before bed and that helped with her not getting as bad of cramps during the night. Maybe that plus the drinking more water might help??

@LM1007 - I agree with this too. If we're lucky doggy style is okay for me but I feel almost swollen afterwards which takes away from any enjoyment I may have had :/

@Cynth0104 - How far along are you? I want to feel movements and haven't yet. I feel something but I am assuming it's gas but maybe I'm wrong. I'm 19 weeks (as of today)
@alcrimmins I drink so much water, and I'm still dehydrated.  It's ridiculous.  Maybe I'm having a fish.
@chiquita928 - YES! Every time I drink a bottle of water, I chug almost 1/2 right away like I hadn't anything to drink all day. I'll take it over the month where I was nauseous every time I drank water though.

I'm trying to keep my "bump" moisturized because it definitely grew bigger over the weekend. But I'm now noticing small red bumps that are quite itchy. I can't tell if it's the clothes rubbing on it or the moisturizer or the lack of moisture.

Yes to itchy boobs (and belly). I had a sports bra on the other day and I think it was just too tight and my boobs were itching like crazy!!

Eh. I really hope it's the clothes or the moisturizer. I had gotten a really rare pregnancy rash with my first, and the only thing that helped was Sarna anti-itch lotion. But if it continues or spreads I'd go to the doctor.
  • Exhaustion. Pure exhaustion. And I'm just not hungry- or I'm hungry but nothing sounds good so I'll go all day without eating until DH comes home and makes dinner and forces me to eat it.
  • @SaphireSweetie88 Yes luck and plenty of foreplay. But even so, the swollen feeling after sometimes just isn't worth it lol.
  • Yikes. The Charlie horses are the worst. Hope they stop for you guys soon.

  • @Rae1 and others when you wake up to a charley horse are you getting rid of it pretty easily? The fastest way to get rid of them is to extend your leg/heel out and stretch your toes up, really stretching out the calf muscle. Should be instant relief.

Yea I just stretch it for a minute or two and it usually stops.

  • Count me in for leg cramps, itching, and BH contractions. Magnesium has been helping with the leg cramps and drinking more water than I have been. I pretty much bathe in lotion, everytime I feel an itch I put lotion on my belly.
  • I was getting crazy cramps last week and was told to start having magnesium potassium and calcium and i think it honestly helped I haven't had another episode. I'm still getting minor cramps in my feet though on and off (between toes)

Does stupidity count as a symptom? My kid has training toothpaste and loves to brush her teeth. She asked for toothpaste and I thoughtlessly put my spicy mint toothpaste on her toothbrush! I caught it just before she put it in her mouth...my brain is gone.
stupidity = baby brain lol I have done so many stupid things in the last few weeks.

  • She's not very big but most days I feel like my uterus is just going to fall out of me LOL!  I have to pretty much sleep with a pillow between my legs permanently now and sitting in certain positions is becoming uncomfortable. Not because of a bump obviously, it's still relatively small, but I don't know.  It feels like things are really starting to stretch now.  Lots of movement the first few days I noticed but she's slowed down now (or I just miss the movements).  Currently moving while I write this haha.  Guess she knows I'm talking about her!  :P

  • 21 weeks - getting more itchy - both bump and boobs - not sure if just because it's winter or stretching or both, but it's certainly worse than it has been up until now. Def. need to drink more water - had a headache for a good part of the weekend because of dehydration and kicking up a bunch of dust so that was fun. Tingly boobs has been a thing off and on for a while now (started with one side and has worked its way to the other one now).

    @kat0607
I know you mentioned tender abdomen, and I've had that for a few weeks, but it seems to be lessening now. Brushing up against it doesn't cause me to recoil anymore from pain :)

  • I have another issue as of today. I really want to sleep, I feel a little feverish but every time I lie down my heart starts thumping more than usual
  • @BusyZee
Have you tried propping yourself up to sleep? I've been having to do this for awhile now and it's been pretty awesome.

  • DH and I walked the Great Aloha Run today.  8.15 miles total plus another 0.75 to get between our car to the starting point.  We had intended to run part of it, but I could tell something was off with my knee and hips so we just did a bit of brisk walking.  My knee felt "loose" and unstable, my hips were sore.  Also, I had to pee like mad from the jostling around, but I didn't want to use the porta-potties.  I was able to hold out until mile 6.

DH is more miserable than I am though.  I poured him an epsom salt bath, and he is happily soaking away for the next 20 minutes.
  • And so much pressure. I didn't feel like this with DS until 38 weeks. And now 18 weeks and I feel like if I push too hard to poop she'll fall out...oh wait tmi?

Dirty lurking from June. @LM1007. I am much more dry during pregnancy too. However, lube is Ah-maz-ing!!! No need for the fun to end. Hop on down to Walgreens and git at it! Lol!

  • Quick question for you ladies: what are you doing to control the cravings/hunger?

I've started to feel ravenous all the time.  I know I'm only supposed to eat 300-400 extra calories per day.  I've been good so far.  Yesterday, I felt so hungry even after eating an enormous (and greasy) lunch and dinner.  I ate fruit to avoid cracking open the cookies at 10:30 pm.  I know indulging once in a while is okay, but I just feel constantly hungry.  It's getting harder and harder to resist eating lots of junk food.  Not sure how long I can hold out before DH finds me with my face buried in ice cream and cookies.
  • @Twinkiedoll Frequent snacks.  I went shopping yesterday and stocked up on plenty of healthy snacks like grapes, laughing cow cheese, Tillamoo cheeses, trail mix, rice cakes, etc.  I wanted low calorie options that have the ability to still make me feel like I'm indulging.  I put peanut butter on the rice cakes with banana and that's hit my sweet tooth nicely!  I've been ravenous today.  It's kind of crazy!  My mother commented how I keep telling her that everything I eat is delicious, but it is! I just want food constantly!

  • @Twinkiedoll This is cheating a little, but being a vegan who really tries to avoid eating anything processed, with added sugar, or otherwise super calorie rich, I kind of just eat as much as I want. If you eat lots of veggies, fruits, and maybe some beans/hummus it can fill you and not take as many calories to do so.

I've noticed that when I get really ravenous it means I'm dehydrated. I drink a big glass of water and then that feeling passes. I also carry small bags of nuts around and that seems to curb that craving of the water doesn't help!
