Cramping before bowel movement??

I'm 8 weeks pregnant. A couple of times, I've had really bad cramps before I need to go to the bathroom. Once I go, the cramps go away. Is this normal? I got scared the first time it happened because it lasted for about 30 minutes and it was really painful.

  • Are you also constipated? If not, your organs are shifting around and that can have a big impact on your digestion and movements.

Sounds like it's constipation (possibly organs moving although a little early IMO) which is normal. Get used to it because it will most likely continue throughout the pregnancy. I have had to find ways to get more fiber and protein in my diet (ex: granola bars) and it seems to help with that.
