STM There's a recall on Britax strollers

    https://www.cnn.com/2017/02/16/health/britax-stroller-recall/

Britax Child Safety Inc. has recalled 676,000 strollers due to a fall hazard, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Thursday.

The recalled models include Britax B-Agile and BOB Motion strollers when they are used with a travel system with a car seat carrier attached. The recall also includes an additional 41,100 strollers sold in Canada and Mexico.

@Laurad1010 the baby jogger, are you talking about the new city select lux?? I'm obsessed a d haven't even seen it in person! My DH keeps talking about 2 in 2 (2 kids in 2yrs) not sure it'll be that tight, but we're hoping for close in age, so I want to get a really solid Stroller that can convert for 2 down the road.  Makes sense to me to spend more now and make it last.
Yes...The lux is the only one I want.  Couldn't get DH to go for the regular city select.  He was nervous in case it didn't work out to have two.  I love my sister's city select.  I have been stalking the Lux too.  Fold of 30% smaller is a win win.  I do the even care about price.
The lux looks awesome.. what do you guys think about it only coming out this spring? I can't tell if that means April or late June. My type A personality wants to have everything in order asap and have a chance to try it out in the store!

@Jmccabe12210 and @dmbfan46835, thanks for the input, especially regarding which are 'hot' - I live in Arizona and this is going to be crucial.

And thank you to @bumpybump, there is one in Phoenix and two of the locations are extremely convenient for meetings.....As a FTM, I don't know if I would have found out about this and I'm very grateful for the knowledge! <3

I cosign this. I saw it when I was pregnant with my first and why I decided to do a med free birth to avoid intervention, def a good documentary all around.

While I enjoyed the documentary, I felt it discredits c-sections under any circumstances. While I totally get the correlation the documentary is pointing out, there are still legit reasons women have (sometimes live-saving) c-sections. I guess it just rubbed me the wrong way since I'm on c-section #4.  :o

I actually saw it the other way around. I think the whole point was that uncomplicated, low risk deliveries should not be treated as a medical procedure and cesareans should be performed when medically necessary. The movie director herself ends the movie having a cesarean with her breech baby. I think the best message was that women should have a voice regarding their own delivery.

@caity024 I used a Moby wrap for the newborn stage and it was so hot and I hated it. I ended up using the Sakura Ring Sling after that and I wouldn't rave about it but it was cooler than the wrap. Having a baby in the summer and living in the south I don't think I'll do much baby wearing this time around. If you can test a few out I would highly suggest it!! It's a personal preference

I CAN'T GET OUT OF YOR QUOTE!!

I'm so glad you pointed this out because i never would have thought about it. I lived carrying DD who was born in September but we lived in NY. Now we're in FL and I figured I'd carry this LO and we'd push DD in the stroller/wagon instead of getting a double stroller. But I didn't even think about the heat.

I just found out from my chiropractor that I may not get this lower back pain managed before the baby comes. As long as I can lay on my stomach he'll continue to adjust my back but they haven't found a reason for the pain yet. He said that hopefully it's under control before he can't have me on my stomach otherwise it gets so hard to treat but he's not sure how long we have to get straightened out. Gah!

@mrsashworth522 look into acupuncture. I haven't had back pain (yet) but acupuncture has been a life saver for me with headaches, infertility, and emotional stuff. I'm a huge fan!

@mrsmatt1212 Thanks! I will definitely look into it. The problem is not many places in my town offer it and my chiro only offers dry needling. But so far the chiro work has helped keep my headaches to a minimum it's just this persistent low back pain

@dmbfan46835 they improved it think it was much better than the first one my DH said it was like watching a porn movie because of boobies and his butt being out and stuff lol

@lauradi1010 it has a little section you can unzip that's against the baby that opens up a little mesh part that lets baby get some fresh air and not have thick fabric against them. I liked that a lot. We get pretty hot in Indiana, like in the 100s, and he did ok.

@mrsashworth522 Have you tried massage? I'm currently getting chiro and massage related to an auto accident, although as a bonus it's helping with some of the lower back pain I've been having anyway. I just started side-lying massage this week.

I'm no doctor. But I will say I had lower back pain once out of nowhere. The chiro helped stave it off a bit, but it came back. I went to my physical therapist and she cured it (with six weeks of treatment of course). Turns out I had muscle tightness and imbalance in my glutes, which pull on the back muscles, which pull on the spine. Physical therapy got the root cause.
Also, my FIL has had back pain for years and it recently became unmanageable. Doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. They sent him to physical therapy and it helped greatly. I hope he continues it because it's not gone, but insurance would only pay for so much.

Clearly I have no idea what's ailing you, but I recommend at least checking into the idea of physical therapy over chiropractors because they correct muscle issues. Something you'd never guess could be causing back problems. (Again, I'm not a doctor! Disclaimer disclaimer!)

So we weren't planning on having MY blood tested for genetic screening since it almost always shows that you carry something and we thought we'd unnecessarily worry. Well I guess I didn't make that clear enough because I just got the call from the genetic counselor with MY results and -- shocking (not) -- I'm a carrier for something called Primary Carnitine Definciency. Since it's a pretty dangerous disease that is easily preventable with meds, we're now going to get DH tested (if he's +, baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having it, but apparently it's uncommon to carry the same things as your spouse). Has anyone heard of this? Obviously doing our own research but didn't know if anyone had first hand experience with this disease.
  • Options
@mrsmatt1212 Im sorry that you were tested against your will. I hope DH comes back negative. Was this a specific test they decided to run for no reason or was something that was part of your NIPT?

New random: baby kicks are the best!! I forgot how much I love them!
  • Options
@mrsmatt1212 - I am not familiar with that disease. I did the Cystic Fibrosis test and am a carrier. They said the same exact thing - rare for spouses to also be a carrier but a 1 in 4 chance for each baby if he is. Waiting on the test results for DH. Sorry I can't provide any insight on your specific situation, but wanted to let you know we're going through something similar - researching and waiting on results.

@LivLew thanks lady. It was part of our testing (we did NXGen MDX which I thiiiiinnk is the same as Harmony). Our doc told us they'd do baby's test, baby's sex, and mom's test, and we knew that we didn't want me tested since we knew something would come up and that it would just cause worry. So we communicated that to our doc and to the lady drawing my blood (although, not very forcefully so maybe it was just lost in communication). This was before we switched to home birth. So of course something came back!

@kvh22 boooo for being a CF carrier. So sucky :/ But glad I'm not alone! Hopefully it won't take too long to test DH and get results back, and this will all just be an inconvenience. If not, then maybe this was meant to happen and they were meant to mess up and test me so we could be prepared! Positive thinking, right?!

@mrsmatt1212 - sorry about the scare you are going through! wishing you luck with your husbands tests!

We got the NIPT test done and usually our doctor only screens for 13 disorders, but the company ran my blood for 170 disorders on accident. so of course i had one mutation come back that can cause kidney and other organ failure in the baby by age 2. my husband was super worried so we got his blood tested as well - but the doctor said chances he is a carrier too are so slim. i'm glad the mistake was made (i find genetics super interesting and important) and i'm glad we don't have to pay for the additional tests! but hoping his results come in asap and clear our worries.
  • Options
@em1017 thanks lady! I kneeew something would come back just because there are so many mutations. Honestly I'm hoping it's either simply an inconvenience or that this mistake happened for a reason and we can have time to prepare since apparently it's very treatable if caught early. Hoping y'all get good results all around!

I have the Graco4Ever and I love it. Like most others, we started out with a traditional infant carrier (Graco Click Connect). Before we got the Graco4Ever, we tried the Recaro convertible car seat and weren't too impressed. I will use the same infant carrier for this new baby and will buy another 4Ever to use rear facing when the new baby is a little older.

@SpotConlon I think I will try a massage especially since I know my time being on my stomach is limited. DH can only do so much lol.

@DeansGirl14  I was in physical for about year due to having hip surgeries. We did a lot then to keep my back pain at ease, especially once a became full weight bearing on both sides again. It helped, but definitely did not get me as far as adjustments have so far. I do know it's something the chiropractor is considering as I get further along but we already have a mix of therapy & chiro work at each appointment. I'm definitely trying to keep my options open though and take what is suggested.

Random: I went to BRU today to look at strollers and the number of options for everything made me anxious. SO walked around with me and then decided for us that we didn't need to actually talk to anyone on this trip. Thank God.

Rant: I'm irked that the results of the Panaroma test that we had to re-do still haven't came in. Now I'm waiting anxiously through the weekend, hoping they'll call Monday morning.

Rave: We sold my husband's old car today, and I'm thankful we were able to get a decent amount for it. We still have to trade in our SUV for something with 3rd row seating (leaning towards an Odyssey).

Random:  The movie Masterminds is freaking hilarious!

@JWatt5 is that the baby jogger city select?? That's the one I really like, but I think we're going to wait til May when the new Lux version is out. My husband has a smaller car so the folding of the luxury really appeals to us.

@smallbutmighty77 - its the Select. The Lux seats will fold like Premier (which Canada just got) seat does which is really great making it more compact. We are on gravel/snow so the bike tire like back wheel the Select offers is a bit better for us. We looked at the Uppababy which has more comparable wheels to the Premier or Lux and they were just a bit more suited for more City life.
Canada gets everything after the US, it's not in the Canadian site yet at all and wasn't going to be here before Baby was born for us otherwise we'd have maybe waited too!

    Thats a great idea @bumpybump
