So this is my first time ever on TB on my laptop. It's a whole new world! (cue Aladdin)
I LOVE my City Mini. I had two other strollers besides it and hands down, it's the best! For car seats, we had a Chicco Keyfit and now have Diono Rainier. I'm glad we went that route because carrying the tiny baby in the carseat is helpful. The Diono is made of steel so moving it isn't my idea of fun. For our PNP, we got the Graco PNP with newborn napper elite. I just wish the storage was more structured. We love everything else though!
I was 95% sold on the city mini gt/city go. But today I discovered uppababy vista/mesa in the new color "Henry" and I'm in love. DH loved the leather handles so I guess we found our travel system. Now I just gotta try it out.
I got a city mini with DD and didn't use it when she was an infant but ever since it's all we use when traveling or quick trips/walks. It's in my car at all times now and is sooo easy to fold and unfold. Definitely make sure you try it out in a store before you choose a stroller because some are crazy heavy and really hard to fold up.
Don't know if some of you do this too, but I love reading some of the other BMBs and seeing all the birth announcements starting to come in. Crazy to think that this will be us in 5-6 months.
This is baby #4 for us, and I've found the infant "bucket" seat to work best for the first year. It's easy to take baby in and out of the car, gives baby a seat in restaurants, etc, and we pair ours with a travel system to easily snap in the infant seat in and out. DD (17 months) is in a convertible now (still rear facing) that should last the rest of her car seat years.
We have a jogging stroller for when baby is bigger that has "tires" instead of plastic wheels, and plenty of storage. Nothing fancy, it's a Baby Trend, and works perfect for us.
We use a pack n play for baby's first 5-6 months, when baby sleeps in our room, before transitioning to the crib. We have one that has a bassinet feature & a fold away changer for convenience in the newborn stage. We also use it to travel, so for us, the PNP is esstential.
I just HAD to have a graco stroller car seat combo. What a waste for us. I used that stroller twice. Hated. It. And I wore DS the first 4 months or so and then it was too cold to go outside. It was a total waste. We now have a 3 wheel jogger and it's great. I Think finding a quality stroller is far more important than finding something that your bucket seat clicks into for like 2 months and the pattern matches, just my opinion.
we also barely used the pack n play. Maybe for like 2 weeks and then we moved DS into his nursery with a Snuza alarm. I used it a couple more times when DS woke up super early in the am and I was still getting ready for work, just to keep him contained. But that's another thing I just HAD to have and barely used.
I also think the bucket seat car seat is WAY better for an infant. Esp if they fall asleep in the car. You just pull the whole thing out rather than having to take the baby out of the actual seat and waking them up. It's also way easier to carry them any place you may need to and it's a place to sit them in while getting your other children ready, putting on coats, etc before heading out the door. And all you need is one seat and multiple bases, not multiple seats.
With my first I was far more into everything matching and being cute than the true functionality. I bought everything that the registries said I needed. Most of that stuff is just ancillary. I won't even get a second stroller til 2018. Then it will be a sit and stand. But right now there's no need for a double stroller. DS can ride and I can wear the baby for a few months. Then it's winter and we won't go anywhere anyway.
@brookedeyo OMG Spaghettios sound amazing. Someone brought in donuts today too, and I ate half of one.

Mommy to a super cute havanesse puppy and baby boy!
@brookedeyo I just told DH over the weekend that I wanted spaghettios and he was like that's not even real food, what the heck?! They still sound fab, with those fake ass meatballs... mmmmmmmm!!
weekly random for me today - I caved in and got a belly band during my lunch break. My size 6 pants don't fit me and now my size 8's aren't closing at the top button. I wear a lot of business casual dress pants for work so it was time to get one...and I'm only 13 wks 2 days. They say you show much earlier after the 1st pregnancy...this is my 2nd baby.
I didn't wear one with the 1st pregnancy bec I wore maternity pants that were hand-me-down's from a coworker. This belly band should suffice for the next few months. I need to stop eating carbs! Its been adding to my bloat.
Live near Rochester now, but have also lived in Fredonia, Buffalo and Fingerlakes areas.
I think it's usually a great place to live except for the weather. The words "lake effect" snow still give me heebie jeebies even though we don't get too much where I am now.
@Nxy what if you had the U/S tech put it in an envelope for you two to open together if you are going to drive down and see him? Then you both can be surprised at the same time.
***a little valentine's AWing*** @bumpybump and @Otmom3 LOOK how cute DD's flowers turned out! She was so happy all day today. She even asked to take them to bed. Valentines win.
@britvahok did anyone report her posts? I think that's the only way they know? eta: I see they closed the thread and removed her comments for violating TOUs. Maybe you still have to have 3 warnings even if there's name calling?
@Nxy too cute! I just made a pie for DH and DD keeps saying it's for her. Well, only if he'll share.

Sweet!! Both of our families are from Jamestown but have most moved away. It's turning into such a crappy place we didn't want to raise the kids there. Plus the last winter we were there it was -64 with the wind chill and it hurt to breathe. DD was a newborn at the time and it was so annoying that we decided to leave. We had both lived in FL prior and my in laws are here so we took the plunge.
I do miss the seasons though. And the country. It is beautiful. But other than that I'll take 80° on Christmas any day
Sad I missed the drama today! It escalated so fast. I about died laughing reading through the comments. I'm honestly surprised we haven't had more of those posts?!? My last BMB had driven by's popping in all the time asking strangers to guess the sex of their baby. Maybe closer to anatomy scan time.
Today I found out that "guess the sex of my baby from this blurry ultrasound photo" is the pregnancy version of "am I pregnant?" WE DON'T KNOW. WE'RE INTERNET STRANGERS.
Now that we've announced we're expecting to family I'm noticing that I'm getting increasingly worried about the pregnancy continuing along well. Before we told people it was much easier to know that only my husband and myself were the emotionally invested ones.
After telling people I feel like this pregnancy is responsible for others happiness and it's starting to stress me out a bit.

New random- I got offered the new role at my job! YAY! I'm meeting with the hiring manage this morning to accept, but I have to tell him I'm pregnant. I'm a little nervous. The HR woman didn't bat an eye and said that wouldn't change the offer, and she was super excited for me. The hiring manager has kids so HR said he'd be understanding. I figure he's going to get 5 solid months of work out of me before I need Leave. Eeee! I've been doing my job for seven years, and although it's a great job, I'm just done with it. I need this new opportunity and new challenges. :-D
@DeansGirl14 Congrats on the new job!! That is so exciting. 5 months is more than enough to kick ass and totally prove yourself before you're out I'm also telling my boss that I'm pregnant tomorrow.. I'm nervous but ready to have it out in the open! It's definitely nerve-wracking.
Last night for valentines we went to go see 50 shades darker with DH and i cried in some of the scenes, this pregnancy seems like small or big things get to me.
Our parents have bought us our stroller and car seats. We went with the Baby Jogger City Select Double (it was one of the few double strollers that can hold two car seats), and the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35. They are compatible with each other so it will work as a travel system at first. We haven't really bought anything big but my parents are chomping at the bit to make purchases.
@secicc12 i just told my boss on Friday and feel some relief, but now I wish a subtle memo could be sent out to the rest of the company so that everybody isn't staring at me wondering "is she pregnant or fat"?
I lucked out, so extremely - through my health insurance program, you earn points - at the end of 2016, I had enough points to 'purchase' the Chicco Bravo stroller and, although I had tried a City Mini GT at Disneyland 2 years ago with my 2 SD, I didn't MIND this one.....I must have rolled them all around BBB for an hour and it was freeeeeeee! Plus, I want to register for the KeyFit infant seat, which snaps right into the Bravo. (Please don't hate me for humble bragging :-) ) I feel like y'all are the only ones who could possibly get as excited as I did at a free, new stroller.
As for the reveal, DH and I will know - we're going to head out to one of our favorite desert shooting spots (with a number of close family and friends) and do the pink or blue tannerite explosion
@DeansGirl14, congrats on the job, let us know how the HR talk goes!!! I'm losing my job sometime before June (it's a good thing, though, and I'm getting a severance) so you'll all be sick of me on here constantly this summer hahaha!
Also, can any STM+ chime in on baby wearing options?? I'm looking at either an Ergo or Lillebaby, but I can't decide between the two
I am super sad about our stroller situation. I had a city select with two seats when my 6&4 needed strollers and we sold it last summer on Craigslist for $100
@caity024 I LOVE my lillebaby all seasons. I used a ring sling for a bit in the beginning but switched to a Tula woven wrap and then that got too hot in the spring so I got the lillebaby. He loves front facing and being on my back in it and it's sooooo comfy for me too. DS was born August 2015 so the seasons will line up the same again and I plan to do the exact same but no ring sling. Woven wrap for the fall and then lillebaby for the spring and summer. I'm in Indiana.
@caity024 I personally love our Tula. I had an Ergo and sold it once getting the Tula. I have friends that love their Lillebaby. It's all a matter of preference and also depends on how you're built. Another friend likes her Ergo over the Tula. If you have a Babywearing International Group near you, they allow you to try them out.

@caity024 I used a Moby wrap for the newborn stage and it was so hot and I hated it. I ended up using the Sakura Ring Sling after that and I wouldn't rave about it but it was cooler than the wrap. Having a baby in the summer and living in the south I don't think I'll do much baby wearing this time around. If you can test a few out I would highly suggest it!! It's a personal preference.
I joined a "fit pregnancy" group on fb, but I think I'm going to have to leave it. The women who post are in SUCH great shape, it's de-motivating. I have an active job and lifestyle, but I don't have the time or energy to put into my fitness that these ladies do, and it makes me feel inadequate. Instead of continuing to mope about it, I'm going to make the healthy choice.
@Laurad1010 the baby jogger, are you talking about the new city select lux?? I'm obsessed a d haven't even seen it in person! My DH keeps talking about 2 in 2 (2 kids in 2yrs) not sure it'll be that tight, but we're hoping for close in age, so I want to get a really solid Stroller that can convert for 2 down the road. Makes sense to me to spend more now and make it last.
As for the pack n play, I think I've decided on the Snuggle Suite Graco one. Ahhh expensive decisions!

Yes...The lux is the only one I want. Couldn't get DH to go for the regular city select. He was nervous in case it didn't work out to have two. I love my sister's city select. I have been stalking the Lux too. Fold of 30% smaller is a win win. I do the even care about price.
@dinofreak That's a little bit how I felt with the early fitness posts on this board - I was at the stage of "hey! Went for a 1.5 mile walk with friends" or "swam a 1000 yds at the y this week, and ate salad once" when everyone else was like "ran a marathon today after my crossfit session of the Murph - 250 lb lifts! What protein shake is best?" So I opted out of even looking at them.
