Regular OB check on Monday. Will be 32+1. Hopefully she doesn't mention cutting back at work since last weeks hospital monitoring day
update- my dr did an internal and external US today. She's worried little girl might be running out of room. She did say that she's measuring at 4.5 pounds which makes me happy. I'm all about a little chunky baby
Regular appointment tomorrow at 33+1. Same old song and dance I'm sure. My fundal height did not get measured last time so I'm going to make sure and ask them this time
I have an appointment on Thursday. This time I have to bring my 17 month old so we'll see how it goes in the exam room lol. Having to go every 2 weeks makes things feel impending... right around the corner. Even checking out birth stories from Feb/March makes me excited that we'll be next!
I have an appointment on the 16th (33w 1d). I'm hoping this will be the start of bi-weekly appointments, but my OB's office has been so chaotic this time around, I may have to remind them about that, too.
When have your docs/midwives mentioned getting the third tri u/s to see how the baby is positioned? I cannot remember when that happened last time, but since DS measured small from about the start of the 3rd tri, I pretty much had an u/s every time I went in to check him out.
@Magheeta My midwife won't have me get an ultrasound. She can feel baby's positioning. So, unless this baby flips breech and we want to be sure we will just assume she is right and go have a vaginal baby. They agree with me in my beliefs that 3rd trimester ultrasounds are not really needed unless there is a serious concern for baby.

I have a regular checkup tomorrow but I'm trying to see if I can get it moved to today. My nausea has gotten out of control. I'm now up to losing 8 pounds this week. Blah.

@cafedisco oh my gosh! Were you like that in the first trimester? I can't remember. I'm so sorry it's so bad. I hope they can help you get it under control.
I had my "28" week appointment last week and then they scheduled me out 4 more weeks to "32" weeks. The #s are in quotes because I was almost 29 weeks and will be almost 33 weeks. But I keep forgetting to see when I will start appointments every two weeks.. That's when it really gets real for me..

It was rough 1st tri but not this bad...I've never had nausea wake me up like that. I had the sweats and the whole deal last night. I just posted on another thread, but basically they think it's my Zoloft. My midwife said not to stop it suddenly but I'm going to try cutting the pill in half. I can't afford to keep missing work so fingers crossed it works and quickly.

I probably should have phrased my question better. I know that my OB's office does a 3rd tri u/s as part of their protocol, so it will be happening at some point. The question is when. I guess it would only apply to those who's caregivers follow the same practice. Since DS was measuring small, I had frequent u/s's, so I didn't know when the original u/s would have been, which is why I asked the question in the first place.
@KirstinH88 Yeah, my appointments are all messed up too in terms of weeks. My "30" week visit was at 31w2d, and my "32" week visit is not until I am 33w5d. I got off during the holidays plus my OB had a few days booked up and scheduling didn't want to do appointments less than 2 weeks apart. I need to ask her at my next appt whether this means I'll end up skipping a visit.
@magheeta when I went to an office that did a 3rd trimester ultrasound is was at 36 weeks. Hope that helps!
I have a normal appointment on wednesday morning following my son's 2 year well baby checkup (my pediatrician and OB are in the same medical building). I'm 34 weeks. I think my next appointment is the strep test at 36.
@magheeta my OB office does the position check ultrasound at the 36 week routine appt. They mentioned they will often do another one when you come in to deliver just to make sure baby is still in ideal position.
Had my ultrasound today (32+1) as a follow up to my regular appointment last Thursday. Baby is measuring a couple weeks ahead (which I take with a grain of salt), and my fluid levels are on the higher side of normal, so it's just something they want to keep an eye on.
My 33 week appointment was supposed to be Thursday but I got it moved to tomorrow. Might have had blood in my urine today, the toilet water was an odd orangish color after I went. Hopefully it's just a UTI?
Had a regular appointment today.. no real changes.. seeing the hematologist tomorrow to discuss my platelets.. will likely be put on steroids.. which will likely make my blood sugar go up so I'm waiting on them to call with my endocrinologist appointment.
So my appointment today was a lot more involved than I had originally thought. We did the usual stuff - peed in a cup to check for sugar and protein, blood pressure (it was good), my weight gain did come up again. This time my midwife said that my weight gain was "fine" at least she didn't make me feel bad I guess? She said thus far, I have gained 26 lbs so I am right on track. She said for the rest of my pregnancy I shouldn't gain anymore weight and if I did to have it not more than 10 pounds. But how is the baby supposed to gain weight but I'm not?
I also got my kick count card, my birthplan work book, my breast feeding information packet, and the tdap shot. It didn't hurt but now my arm aches like a mother. She also ordered another ultrasound for 32 weeks (she said follow up growth scan, even though baby is right on track) and said that there is another ultrasound around 36 weeks where she will determine the position of the baby. I don't mind seeing the bean but I thought it was a little excessive as far as ultrasounds go.
Also, do we have a discussion going about pain management? The hospital where I am delivering doesn't offer gas and air and only offers epidurals and/or narcotics which I am not too excited about. I was just wondering what yo ladies are planning for in regards to pain management.
@cafedisco you poor thing, I hope you find relief soon! Hopefully the Zoloft is the trouble and can be fixed.
@RachelGreene and @Beckyf321 it makes me so sad that your Dr's comment so negatively on your weight gain during PREGNANCY, during such a vulnerable and hormonal time. I get that it's a Dr's job to worry about your health and the baby's health, but delivery of such thoughts is key. I am big. Like big BIG. Pre-pregnancy 318 and at 33 weeks I am 340. My OB mentioned to me from the very get go that every woman gains differently. He told me they monitor weight gain for women above the ideal body weight just like women in the ideal body weight range or below the ideal range. When I still had gained no weight at all by week 20, I was thrilled. My OB said if I gain no weight at all, so be it, if I gain 5 lbs, so be it, and if I gain more, so be it. He did say that obviously it is important to eat healthy and take care of baby, but that was so much more important than the number of pounds gained. Once I started gaining after week 20 I worried so much and every appointment I ask if it's bad, should I be worried, should I do something different and every week he tells me I am just fine and keep taking care of baby like I am. Ok so that was long, but my point is I doubt either of you are my size and yet my OB had NEVER made me feel bad for me weight. It truly makes me sad for you guys that you are made to feel like you are doing something wrong. Try to let it in one ear and out the other!
@nolegirl1185 I love what you wrote. I was much larger with my last pregnancy (started out probably 70 lbs more) and I was constantly worried and self-conscious, but my drs never made me feel bad since I was active and taking care of myself. I felt much more than a number. This time around has been the exact opposite with everyone around me bugging me about my small belly and slight weight gain, but again, my drs are happy which makes me so relieved. I really hope no one is getting too hung up on the scale.
@RachelGreene during the childbirth class DH and I took, we talked about pain management techniques and options then. My OBs haven't said anything on their own. So I think at least at my practice it's up to me to decide what methods I want and bring them up if I have questions.
I'm planning on using breathing techniques for awhile, and am open to epidural, depending on how it goes. Still thinking through it though. ETA also planning to labor on a birthing ball and in the tub and/or shower available in the birthing center.
I've got a routine appointment on Friday. They'll tell me about my hemoglobin results (expecting normal since I feel normal), probably talk about GBS testing, and I'll complain about my ultrasound I had on Saturday and discuss options for my 37 week scan.
I only had an US to determine baby's position and the doc and tech at the place were ridiculous. They treated me like a total idiot for not wanting them to do anything more than check if baby was head down, and made us wait for 45 minutes while they whispered about it down the hall. They even called my midwife about it and suggested I call her too. Then, they got me on the table and basically did everything they would have anyway...all the measurements I wanted to skip, and spent an extra long time poking me so baby would breathe for them. I really don't want to endure that again and I don't want to go back again. I do need another scan to make sure we don't have another surprise breech at around 37 weeks so I may suggest going to a boutique instead so at least I get some nice pictures out of it.
Another NST today... baby was moving all over the place and being much more cooperative. The tech got held up with another patient and I ended up being on the machine for like 45 minutes anyways. Sheesh. I can't win.
Friday i I go back for another NST and an appt with the most laid back of the docs in the practice. Maybe he will put an end to all these tests, ha ha. One can only hope!

@mrsstuessy It was the local ultrasound school because my insurance sucks and I wanted to pay the least amount possible. My midwives weren't asking for any more than position so I don't know why the place made such a stink about it. I'll see what my options are on Friday. I am kicking myself for putting up with what I did, but I was worried they were getting ready to cancel my scan altogether after we'd waited with a toddler for 45 minutes and I also don't want to make things difficult with them for my midwife.
My hematologist appointment today went better than expected. Of course I needed bloodwork But he was super thorough and looked over every blood draw I've ever had! He said my platelets were low with DD (just not as low) but every draw not pregnant has been perfectly normal. I will need steroids the few days before my C-section but as long as all goes well with my bloodwork in 4 weeks he is putting me on a short course of minimal dose so I won't have to worry as much about it affecting my blood sugar levels.
Now to get through my endocrinologist and nutritionist appointments tomorrow and I'm done with my appointments for the week!
Also they called me to go over what I needed to know for my csection (when I need to be there, scheduled a pre op meeting.. etc) it got real when they scheduled my csection now it's just slapped me in the face with how soon this is actually happening!
I had an appointment today. U/S to check on baby's size and BP to check on my...BP. Size was okay--she's measuring 4.5 lbs at 33w3d which is small but not below 10th percentile. The MFM doctor told me he expected her to be 7 lbs at 39 weeks. BP went up from 130/? last week to 133/77 this week, so we're keeping an eye on that. No protein in my urine and no real swelling, so it might be gestational hypertension and not pre-eclampsia (see other thread). If my BP keeps going up they may induce me early.

@KirstinH88 yeah we're thinking I was probably dehydrated a bit. I started drinking a lot of water after it happened and haven't had issues since. Baby was fine yesterday at the appointment, heartbeat 140 and squirming all over, so the doctor wasn't worried.
Is anyone at a practice where there isn't any real personal interaction? We have 4 midwives and 6 obgyns... I've only seen one of the same people twice, otherwise just kind of herded through like cattle. I'm usually in and out in ten minutes. Enough time to pee, get BP, heartbeat and weight check. I asked questions one day and could tell the doctor was already preoccupied on to her next appointment. It's frustrating. I know I'm nothing new or special but still...
I had my regular follow up appointment on Tuesday. Went well, no issues! I will have an US at 36wks to check growth and position. Wow everything's coming up so fast. I've even been switched to every two weeks now.

@KaraMG35 that sounds like a huge bummer. I had a doctor that I wasn't connecting with pre-preganancy and I made the switch to my current practice right before I got pregnant. I've only had one appointment where I felt "rushed". I'm sorry your experience isn't working for you.
@KaraMG35 yes, mine have often been similar. It depends on the doc though. The nurses are great 90% of the time. The two times I've met with the nurse practitioner have been great. But some of the doctors are awful. I think Murphy's law says I'll get one of the doctors I don't like when this baby comes. Because I'll get whoever is on call. There are two doctors I love and really want one of them. A few I'm "meh" about, and two I really don't like. One of them literally would not let me finish my sentences before she rushed to answer me and made me feel stupid and unimportant. I really don't want her. Joke was on her once though. I looked at her after she answered one question and said "that's not what I was asking at all. You didn't let me finish." Haha! But then the last doctor I saw was running behind on his appointments and still took the time to really listen to me. So it's hit or miss. I'm sorry you're dealing with that too.
Update: I did get to see my Dr today, yay! Love the NP but I had questions for him. I was so shocked to hear he was happy with my BP readings. He expected them to go up like they did, but was happy that they also come back down. My Labetalol was increased from 100 mg twice a day to 200 mg twice a day to hopefully keep it from continually rising. I now have to do NST's twice a week at the hospital on top of my weekly appointment. He also said he will not allow me to work up until the end, but since I'm only 33 weeks I have a little time and we will play it by ear for when I have to stop. So NOT what I want to hear for financial purposes, but gotta keep little man safe and cooking for as long as possible. I was able to talk about my list of questions, but forgot to bring up birth plan stuff and get his view on my growth US. The nurse said everything was fine and when I told her the tech said my baby was of "generous size" (5 lbs 3 ounces and the 85th percentile) she said "ehh" and shrugged her shoulders like no big deal. Who knows haha.

I didn't use him, but my first midwives highly recommended someone who comes to your home to do the ultrasound. He can hook it up to your TV and he makes you a video and pictures for about $150 I think. I can look up his info if you are interested...

Had my 34 week appointment today and the heartbeat, pee sample, and my blood pressure were all fine and I also received my tdap shot, however the OB I saw took a more keen interest in the records of my previous pregnancies and had some concerns about my small belly size (I've consistently measured around 2 weeks behind). So I was told to schedule a growth scan before my next appointment in 2 weeks. The hospital prenatal clinic didn't have many appointment options so I'm not going to be able to get in until the day before my next visit with the Dr - hoping that's ok. I'll start weekly appointments after my next as well as internals (although I plan on declining all but the one at my next appointment since they have to do the strep test anyway.) The end is near!

When have your docs/midwives mentioned getting the third tri u/s to see how the baby is positioned? I cannot remember when that happened last time, but since DS measured small from about the start of the 3rd tri, I pretty much had an u/s every time I went in to check him out.
